Battlegrounds - do you like them?

Hey there, just another poll.

I started doing battlegrounds today and I absolutely love them. The maps are great and the fast paced PvP is a great addition to Cyrodiil (which I don't like that much).

My only gripe is that battlegrounds are restricted and players who haven't bought Morrowind can't enjoy them. Over the day waiting times are quite long (especially in the morning) but in the afternoon and evening it doesn't take 2min to get into a battleground (PS4 EU, 10-49).

Again, I love them. Thanks ZOS for giving us this great way of doing small scale PvP.

If I ever have a queue over 2 min I just requeue and get in almost instantly

Don't like them...

I would like them when it would be possible to select an BG-mode. But when you get capture the relict all the time it is boring and this is the reason why i don't go there anymore. I just wanna Play deathmatch and not all the other Things

But, it could be better if premades groups and randoms had a separate queue. As we have a queue for players at level cp160 and those below level 50.

I PVP in Cyro 99.9% of the time so I have not played them enough to judge them. What little I have played in BGs, it has been an meh take it or leave it expereince.

I'm not a dedicated pvper. The only time I've done battlegrounds is when I needed to get a win for that pvp event last year. I didn't have a whole lot of fun with it, and I think it's mostly because unlike in Cyrodiil where you can still accomplish things and have fun even if you only marginally know what you're doing, in battlegrounds it seems to matter a lot more if you're up against people who are more skilled or experienced or coordinated than you are, and that's fairly likely to happen (especially if you're a PUG getting matched up against premade teams). I mean the contest of skill is a large part of what pvp is all about, but as someone who isn't invested enough in pvp to try to be the very best, it doesn't make me want to keep jumping back in to try again.

The Capture the Relic match in particular got real boring at the point when all three teams had a different team's relic, and nobody could score and nobody felt like leaving their little turtle group to go kill somebody else's turtle group for a relic they didn't need.

I did like the one with the transport pads where you had to claim flags for your team. I think that's the one we finally ended up winning.

So I guess tl;dr pve carebear needs to git gud and battlegrounds isn't the place to do it.

I've never tried Battlegrounds, but a big part of the reason for that is I've never enjoyed small scale PvP in any other game, so it seems unlikely I'll enjoy it in this one. About 10-a-side + NPCs is where it starts to get fun for me, basically PvP that's like being one of the units in a MOBA or RTS.

Maybe I'll try it one day when I'm bored with everything else, or curious, but that could be a long time coming.

i prefer more of the free form fighting like the old arena district from a couple of years ago...

would be great to queue in to a battleground environment and have a three way faction fight between groups of 4 to 8 players each...

I guess like just about everyone else - the only game I really enjoy is the deathmatch...

Like them, usually controlled fights which is much better than cyrodiil. Plus I feel like the quality of players is typically better than open world. Open world is full of potatoes, max cp potato’s at that.

And no cp bgs make stam wardens ridiculous, without the extra mitigation light and medium users get obliterated.

I used to love them but they've honestly gotten stale. I think most of the good players and pre-mades have kinda given up on them and just moved back to cyrodill. The increase in AP gain from BGs didn't help either, and instead served to only attract bad players in search of easy AP.

ESO's battlegrounds are very cheesy and unimaginative compared to other games ive played. Its basically just the same arena with different scenery and the objectives are basic and every BG turns into a deathmatch. PVP should have strategy and skill involved not people just beating the crap out of each other over and over with a different background.

Its more like a MOBA than an MMO BG.

I’m assuming you’re not talking about lane mobas but something like Battlerite.

Cause I’d never compare bgs to something like league, dota 2 or even smite.

I love battlegrounds!

I like them a lot. I don't mind not being able to choose game-mode, though I wouldn't mind removing deathmatch from the rotation if I could. I don't find it fun and I would like for the people who queue just to ignore objectives to be segregated off into their own little deathmatch bubble where they won't be pissing me off.

I think the switch to no-CP was positive. I prefer CP in cyrodil where battles are bigger and slower paced. In BGs, everything is smaller and faster, so the lower TTK of no-CP helps keep the pace up.
