Are there any gay NPCs in ESO?

I did every quest on Khenarthi's Roost, in Auridon, Grahtwood and Greenshade. I think I've seen two or three gay couples, and one quest I did in Reaper's March seemed to hint that the NPC was bisexual. Or the devs just didn't bother making alternate quests based on gender.

Its not just one, the orc mage and some others also changed gender depending on your choice in the past. But that's more a time travel thing then a trans thing...

Dunmer who wants to become Khajiit, but ends up becoming Argonian instead when messing up the transformation potion, you mean, right? ;) In greenshade...
Though I suppose that one is mess transgender, and more... transracial? Or possibly even a fantasy-world furry - going for alchemy options rather then dressup, though there is a reference to latter in one of the orsinium dailies as well... (why do you think they always need more werewolf pelts?)

    Why should I know?

I haven't read/seen any threads on it, majority of my time on ESO has been: dungeons, trails, levelling new character, Vma, PVP, crafting, grinding for gear.

My sincerest apologies for not doing all solo questing, talking to NPCs to find this out to appease you!

Tbh (not to start a new topic) the solo questing in this game just feels lacklustre to me, I've tried it but I always find myself skipping through the dialogue. I'm not like that in other single games but in this I guess I lost my sense of quest immersion a bit :(

Maybe there is so much other stuff to do is why I feel this way?

Balmora. North West gate. There is a male npc that sits down and another male npc that walks inside the gates and every now and then walks outside and sits on the ground right next to the other man. Their proximity screams love

Also in bangkorai, North east there is a quest with a gay werewolf and his husband who is worried about him.

That one is less "transracial" since she is not "I am an alligator inside and now want to become one outside as well"; but instead more shamanistic in an "my life as an argonian is at an end, it is time for me to pass on and become one with nature - as alligator".
Compare to stories of druids, native amercan shamans, skinchangers and such; the concept of a shaman passing their spirits to live on as animal or physically turning into an animal and forgetting they ever were human in the end is not that uncommon from what encountered in my readings...

the thieves guild quest line is actually 100% gay npcs, the dark elf the khajit the argonian, i think only the original quest giver isnt. Other than that every zone has a ma 1 gay npc minimum

Zeira has a confirmed heterosexual relationship. Quen seems straight, but I don't think there's any confirmation of that. The males seem rather flitty, I'll agree, but that doesn't actually prove they're gay/bi. Indeed, at a guess I'd think Silverclaws is straight and Walks-Softly bi.

What we know for sure is that they're all at least bi-friendly. At one point you can hit on any of them, and none of them thinks that's out of line no matter what sex you are, but none of them accepts either. (Are there any exceptions to those rules?)

This game actually has some great quests as those things go. The typical quest line is that you arrive at a town where things are going wrong, solve a little mystery, and set things to rights. That allows for many plot twists, and occasionally one of those is pretty good.
    • On the whole DC quests are better than AD ones, and AD are better than EP.
    • Rivenspire is particularly good, both in the main quest line (3 skill points) and some of the side quests.
    • The Stros M'Kai main quest gives an easy skill point. The quest are blech but the characters are wonderful.
    • The first skill point quest line in Stormhaven (Alcaire Castle) has a great story line, but it is quite long.
    • I enjoy the third skill point quest line in Glenumbra well enough to repeat it on a number of characters.
    • Daggerfall City has an extra skill point. The initial quest giver is a barking dog. Those quests (skill point line or side) are easy, with a bunch of decent characters making brief appearances.
    • Bangorkai has a LOT of plot twists in its quests, main quests and side ones alike. I don't think the characterizations in that zone are particularly strong (except when King Emeric shows up), but there are a lot of ideas there.

That's a matter of perspective and personal opinion.
Some are, some aren't - in my opinion.

Personally I love the EP questlines, since they give some -background- to the three banners war. Some reason for EP characters to want to PvP against the others, yelling battlcries like "Remember Bleackrock" and "For Bal Foyen" or "Die, dominion hatchlingkillers!". Makes one think they are fighting for the right side, in an "Defend our homelands!" kind of way, while what was the others casus belli again? "Fight so I can plant my royal ars... uhm... rear on the ruby throne"? I swear, PvPing ojn the DC side makes me feel like a mercenary, and on the AD side like a elven supremacy fascist...

Also, the EP quests feel more like a generallly tied together storyline then the DC plots sometimes... like the starter isle invasion continued in stonefalls questline... the eastmarch instability leading to the weakened situration that allows the trouble in the rift to grow, etc.
AD has similarly interconnected storylines, with how things go from grahtwood to greenshade and greenshade to malabel tor, etc. DC on the other hand... not so much, each region kinda seems like its a standalone kingdom with its own particular (often homegrown) troubles...

But in the end, I like each of them, even some of the less surprising ones. And its not like EP quests don't have their own share of plot twists, right?
    • Rivenspire is particularly good, both in the main quest line (3 skill points) and some of the side quests.
Rivenspire IS one of the better one, agreed. The court intrigue is classic, the vampire connection a nice new twist, the doomcrag assault for resolution an interesting direction to take on it.
    • The Stros M'Kai main quest gives an easy skill point. The quest are blech but the characters are wonderful.
Eh. No more then other characters, and no more then other starting isles. Only high point is that they start off with some interesting characters right away, while in other lands you meet most of the interesting ones only later on (Razum-Dar being a notable exception)
    • The first skill point quest line in Stormhaven (Alcaire Castle) has a great story line, but it is quite long.
It is neat, though I was vexed that there is no option to avoid the duchess murder, especially when I recalled "Waitaminit, I saw that in the Betnik visions... that knight shi... uhm... sir hughes is gonna kill her!". I mean, why the warning if you cannot act upon it, right?
    • I enjoy the third skill point quest line in Glenumbra well enough to repeat it on a number of characters.
I found that one not at all that great... but as I said, personal preference. I still repeat all of thjem with all my characters eventually. (I only ger selective about DLCs - my "honest" characters will never do the TG and DB lines for example...)
    • Daggerfall City has an extra skill point. The initial quest giver is a barking dog. Those quests (skill point line or side) are easy, with a bunch of decent characters making brief appearances.
I for one found the "Daggerfall" quests rather boring, in an all too classic "stop the assassination plot" kind of way.
    • Bangorkai has a LOT of plot twists in its quests, main quests and side ones alike. I don't think the characterizations in that zone are particularly strong (except when King Emeric shows up), but there are a lot of ideas there.
I always thought Emric a annoyance in that one. Especially his stupid "let's not get any reinforcements and maybe some mages of our own when going out to face the -magus general- as to get all nicely killed by magic and/or abducted for the vestige to rescue..." I mean, what's the point of being king when you rush headling to your death? Boneheaded nords can get away with it because... nord, but a breton king???

As for surprises and plot twists, those are generally a good thing. Not always (cough, Tovisa, cough), but generally. And Bangkorai does not nearly have a monopoly on good ones...

In the end, it all depends.
Each should make up their own mind about what they like, and let others like whatever they want.
In both quests, and the OP topic ;)

I don't know if it was mentioned, but there is a lesbian Argonian in Shadowfen, during a quest to the far South West. There's a side quest to retrieve her bow. She may even be bisexual, because her commander replies to your question "Who's <female Argonian's name>?" and the CO will whisper "The little shy Argonian, watching you from the pyramid." Once you give her back her bow, she says it was a gift from her wife.

I remember seeing a lesbian Argonian and Dunmer couple, too.

In the AD area, at some gambler outpost, a male Khajiit asks you to help his husband/mate.

There's a gay Dunmer couple in the brothel in Ebonheart. One's a prositute and other is his client.

I'm still wanting to see a gay Argonian couple. There's the flamboyant Argonian in the Thieves quest, but is he gay or just fancy, I don't know. I heard regardless of gender you can ask him out on a date, and he reacts happily regardless of gender. But I also heard he's even happier if your a male PC. I don't know.

Lastly, Vivec isn't a transgender. Transgenders are someone born as one sex but feel comfortable being the opposite. Vivec is a hermaphrodite or intersex, pansexual, he was born with both gen itals <(Why was this censored?) and doesn't give a damn about what you call yourself.

TES games, including ESO, have a long history of LGBT representation be it intentional or not (Daggerfall through programming quirks).

As a slight tangent, something I love about ESO is that not only is there LGBT+ representation, but a few characters even have established gender preferences that don't change even if you talk to them with player characters of different genders. A lot of games go the "everyone is bi" route so they don't have to create new dialogue, and I love that ESO didn't do this every time. It gives the impression that the writers involved were keen on not taking the lazy path when it comes to important topics like LGBT+ representation and gender preferences.

I can only think of two examples offhand, but here they are:
--There's a random male NPC (Windhelm, I think? It's been a few years) who will flirt with female player characters, while just making small talk about the town?/festival? with male player characters.

--Darien Gautier will flirt with female player characters sometimes, but not male characters. At one point, I was doing a quest on my female* main at the same time as my boyfriend was doing the same quest on his male main. At the end-of-quest dialogue, Darien was basically just like "Good job, dude" to the male player character, but he asked my female character out on a date. Last time I checked some months back, even the UESP wiki only listed the dialogue for Darien talking to a male player character on that quest, so I guess it's not immediately obvious that his dialogue changes based on gender. Unless you're playing on multiple characters across genders and happen to notice he's not saying the same thing to your ladies as your dudes.

*She/they're actually genderless, but I had to pick "male or female" at character creation and she/they look more feminine, so....
