WHY WONT MIATS ADDON DIE?

Every patch, and i mean Every single patch, this guy makes another addon despite changes made by devs.... i heard there is another addon out. how is this possible?

The addon is there it just doesn’t do what it used to....

Test it out ans see what it does. I never used it but I expect it did more than the few things players complained about.

I downloaded it a while back so I could play around with it and understand it, so that I could argue against it intelligently.
I played around with it for a few hours and then shut it off. Since the last patch I re-enabled it to verify that it wasn't working the way it used to, and by and large it is not. There are a lot of things I do like about the addon map-wise and what it shows you, like distance from points of interest and there locations on the map rather than on the overhead compass.

I have logged quite a few hours with it on post-mortem and there is the occasional warning that I do still get. They are weird though, names I have never heard of before, maybe even player names and not abilities themselves. I am also unsure if I am getting the warnings before or after I am hit by something, or if I am really getting hit by anything at all. If anyone has more information or understanding about what is still popping up that would be good to know. @Dorrino perhaps?

It's Miats, it sees incoming attacks. You don't think it wouldn't see the attacks against itself coming?

To put it differently i don't see what addons can improve about the gameplay, besides what they do already. Everything else is out of scope of the addons.

All the snippers mad they can't hit some guy for 9k damage while applying major defile from max range, when that person is already fighting 5 others. Not surprising to see them being vocal haters on an anonymous message board either.

Funny thing is, regardless of addon, the bow gankers will never get a kill on anyone who knows how to break free unless those getting ganked lags so that they won't hear/see the effect coming to them. Only time I died from the gank is when the lag made me unable to break free with full stam, did not register the damage, never played effects and sounds until I was dead.

no, they arent. if they were an amazing player, they wouldnt have needed this addon in the first place. Relying on an addon to tell them to dodge incoming attacks that other actually good players on here advise they can see ( or hear actually i think it was) coming without an addon, is the mark of a really poor player.

good players never needed miats in the first place.

Yes, fortunately , and I mean very, this Miat addon's ""Incoming"" alert has now been disabled. It made the game so much more fair in combat. However that said, this past week now just about everyone has now gone stealth. I mean I have seen a DRAMATIC change in combat styles in just about everyone. KnightBlade stealth healing gankers are out of control and nearly impossible to kill.

Otherwise to answer your question again, Miats addon for incoming alerts HAS been disabled.

Thanks zenimax. We truly needed that to go away to make the game more fair.

Think it still tells you you’ve been / being attacked but doesn’t warn you about the attack from stealth.

At any rate; I still wouldn’t roll all bow all the time. I just have a load out for sniping on my primarily melee Stamplar for situations where it’s going to be a ranged fight.

I would like to see a bow/bow nongank pvp video that is reletively succesful and not in a giant zerg of snipe spammers. Bow/bow builds = free ap when not in a zerg, then they are just easy ap.

Why should it die? Regardless of the notifications it always was a stellar addon. And still is.

So you don't know this person, or every played against them... yet you comment on how good of a player they are? Just about any top tier player on PC NA will tell you Miat is an awesome player. Don't let your ignorance define you.

It is known that 'good players' don't need any ui whatsoever:)

The state of pvp, referenced above, has nothing to do with any addons.

The state of pvp includes:

- abysmal client (fps) and server (latency) performance;
- lack of solo objectives and overemphasis on large groups (zergs) pvp;
- lack of development of cyrodiil;
- overabundance of old and newly introduced glitches;

Addons can't do anything with the above.

Notifications helped with the lack of proper telegraphs and glitches in the existing ones.

Removal of notifications will just make those issues more clear (and put huge emphasis on stealth yet again).

I have stopped playing the game months before the latest major patch for the reasons above.

With the patch i logged back in to make sure my addons work for people who still play.

But if you insist on giving so much praise to my addon that without a small part of it people suddenly drastically lose their pvp effectiveness - i can only thank you for thinking so highly about my ui development skills

Despite of how much I dislike Miat's point of view into why he keeps polishing and keeping the addon working, I feel it's also necessary.

This unfortunately serves to keep giving ZOS a reason to look over the API. Something that has to be touched very often. Dorrino made the addon public but I can't imagine how many other addons we don't know about are out there, that shouldn't be even out there.

So in other words if this serves to make ZOS look over the API, I don't care about what Dorrino makes. Good players don't really need an addon to play.
