Dead isn’t pretty.
I'm pretty sure the switch to DLC/Crown Store was entirely based on console release. There are not many console games which people have to pay a mandatory subscription for."IF"?
ZOS already ran into financial trouble some years ago, otherwise they would not have embarked into the effort of creating DLCs and token based paid mounts, housing, costumes and so on.
This one, I think. Also if you're following trends within the gaming industry...
I think it's worth noting though that although the publishers, parent companies and corporate side of the games industry are interested in money, the development studios for the most part are still interested in making great games.TheShadowScout wrote: »This one, I think. Also if you're following trends within the gaming industry...
More "trends in gaming industry" as much as all too many of us hate the trend, then this or that game having "financial trouble".
Yeah, most of us here wish these trends had never reared their ugly heads. That we could enjoy games without mictrotransactions, lockboxes, PtW, and "limited time offer" cash grabs.
But these companies are not in the business of providing nifty games, they are in the business of making money, and nifty games are just their chosen product. So I guess we have to live with how things are, not how we would wish them to be.
Game is still fun, and that is what counts!
Im sure theyve been making a steady tidy profit off the Crown store, not to mention the Crown sales make a killing. People lose all sense of restraint when a sale happens and dump hundreds just cause theyre getting x2 the Crown than they usually could.

ESO for all the shady Crown Store stuff is still very focused around being a game with content we can enjoy rather than just something which makes us spend money. I know the haters refuse to see that but it's true.
