Class balance patch has been pushed out to the mid year update.
No real explanation as to why.
The nerfs in this patch feel like bandaids to fix what they deem to be the biggest offenders, primarily in PvP, where I think the player base is a bit more volatile and likely to move on to another game as exploitative builds become more common.
Basically, Miats, perma block PvP builds and more consistent skill behaviour with regards to blocking and dodging were must fixes for PvP.
I think the off balance meta is something they want to get rid of so they can balance classes accordingly with real data that hasn't been skewed by the current meta. Sucks if you're a mDK, but it is what it is.
There some speculation that spell crafting is coming in the next chapter, so balancing now would be a waste of effort. Personally I doubt it, but there might be something of similar impact so delaying it might make sense from the dev perspective.
I hope if they do an ESO 2, they go nuclear and remove classes. Instead give changeable schools and specializations with options for changes.
Things would also be more diverse with every spec having diverse morphs with options to mix roles, like a lightning mage might be specially wanted for trials and healing because they offer an energised passive to the group etc.
- Update 23Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus

Keeping them exclusiely damage classes would also mean removing DPS/healing from DK, tanking/DPS from templar and two other roles from warden, making them exclusively 'their role' & I can see that being REALLY unpopular. ESO prides itself in the flexibility it has between roles, and it's working great for Warden so far. I for one cannot wait for the class balance patch, but my character was NB tank so you can see why now... I don't *think* they could be in a worse place, unless they get banned from wearing heavy armour.

Thats just wishful thinking since the current balance team cant even see a square peg doesnt fit a round hole, let alone balance this.

Guess I'll use WoW as an example. Paladins and Druids can perform all 3 roles - Tank, Healer, and DPS. Druids happen to be the best tanks, while Paladins are on the worse end of that. Both are excellent healers. Both are rather average dps. Thing is, even the worse aspects of the classes/specs doesn't make them NOT viable.
Right now, on ESO, we see classes/specs that just aren't viable. A NB tank or a Warden dps just isn't going to be invited to a vet trial, and that's problematic. This kind of thinking that "only x should do x" is the reason DKs are in the hole that we're in. Hoydidoy, we're tanks and stam dot dps but that's it! It doesn't translate well to other aspects of the game.
I certainly hope they can make every class/spec viable. It will breathe life into the game vs. the forced meta we have now.

I'm not one to think they should not do it,but I can't see why they can't additional skill lines. So we don't gimp what's already there.

Now, that, we can both agree on!
