Why the late date for consoles?

Feb 27th is in all reality, March 1st. I'm shaking my head at you ZoS. What a load of crap. The 12th is a legit date but the 27th?! Come on...

Two big fat thumbs down. I truly hope the wait is worth it!

There's always a 2 week gap. Why? I dunno. I'm sure they explained/justified it at some point in the past. Point is, this isn't unusual.

Remember that getting an update out on console takes more time, because it has to go through certification with Sony and Microsoft to ensure that it doesn't break their platform.

Ah yes! I forgot about the certification process. My bad!!

The delay also is a way to help squash bugs, given that any patch to fix them is also going to be delayed by the cert process.

ZOS has decided that to them it’s more important to push out PC updates as soon as they possibly can.

They don’t actually care about console release dates as much as PC in terms of the release effective date.

While there are arguments suggesting whose fault it is......it’s the developers who are in control

It’s a simple polish, present, clean, polish present and when everything is green lighted then you announce new DLC and spend that time PTS and testing it for quality.

Not how things are done around here but hey what do I know.....I just play games

It would be more logical to release within the same week and get approved 60-90 days out so you can minimize the issues then launch day isn’t chaos......


Instead release day is a forum of this per platform

They get released on the same day and both pc and console patches will be the same (only difference being console patch may be updated with any fixes that were already implemented on pc and still outstanding on console). The difference in releases is that pc release goes direct to player and console release is sent for certification by sony and microsoft.

PC players generally have any bug fixes done before console gets released by their respective platform companies which then means that console patch will be stuck with bugs for at least 4 further weeks before a patch of fixes is available to download.

My words are, THEY DONT WANT A SIMULTANEOUS release, his words are they need to submit to consoles before release. No where does he state it takes two to three weeks.

Now if you submit and it’s not right, it’ll be sent back until it’s right.....notice that was left off the commentary

It’s not someone else’s fault cause technically Microsoft Xbox at least is willing to receive and publish in 24 hours for an update (fact) now if you wait til the last minute no but submit, fail and then correct it....bam 1-2 days your good.

Last minute will prob be 5-7 days....

You are posting this in the wrong forums. There is a delay getting patches through the console service if it is not an emergency patch.

If the update is ready and Zos has given it to the consoles for their process is there a reason to delay distributing it to PC? Of course not.

Reality:

They are only working on the PC game.

After it’s kinda good, they will make a build for the consoles and send it in for certification ....last minute and release on PC

Then patch PC seemingly while tweaking the console of it fails the submission so they set the release dates way out.


Y’all all seem to forget Morrowind launches world wide on all platforms the same week.

It’s literally WHAT ZOS wants nothing else. Please stop making it someone else’s fault cause it s theirs.

That is said to requires the 2 extra weeks.

Why should ZOS hold back the PC release 2-3 weeks because consoles have certification.

Don't like the delays? Then don't buy a console game.

Just be thankful it's not the old days of the Xbox 360 were cert took over a month and companies were charged $50,000 each time they submitted. You would see a LOT less patches.

So on the 27th you will get what PC got on the 12th......

If it's laden with bugs you'll then have to wait another couple of weeks before you get the bug fixes......

Wasn't Chapters Supposed to be same day for everyone and all platforms. Just like last year? I just wanted to ask, so I wont make new thread. Its just unsure same applies for PS4 Waiting as well as Xbox. But I thought chapters was released on all platforms on same day.
