So are weapon dyes a thing now?

I read the patch notes but haven’t been able to log into PTS yet. Anybody who has been on are weapons able to be dyed. The patch notes section mentioning it was vague and very short. Thank you in advance

Just to be clear tho it’s the outfit not the weapon meaning the outfit slot is required (it’s not just clothes it’s weapons and clothes)

But it’s not open at a dye station (which also has changed to an outfit station)

But unlike armor, it now costs gold every time you dye or re-dye your weapon. Even if you are just dying your already equipped weapons. You must put on your "outfit", have your weapons be part of the "outfit" and then pay the gold to dye your weapon. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I can understand paying a one time fee to, for example, make your ugly Necropotence Staff look like a cool staff in one of the rarer and more appealing motifs. But having to pay gold to then dye it? And pay again when the dye looks weird in regular lightning outside the dye station so you redo it? And then pay yet again when you simply get bored of the color scheme and want something different?

I understand that armor dying is only free because it dates back to the days when subscription was required to even log in. So it was not really "free". It was paid for by the mandatory (at the time) $15/month subscription fee. But the costume dying, which was added after subscription became optional, seemed like the right solution. Free for subscribers - not free for non-subscribers. Seems like Outfit dying should have gone same route. Free dying for subscribers - not free for non-subscribers.

Nobody wants ESO+ to become pay to win. And you really cannot get any less pay to win and purely cosmetic than this outfit system. So why there is no ESO+ advantage for this completely cosmetic system seems like a bad omen. Like they are done adding value to ESO+.

I'm really not pleased with the fact Zenimax is making the outfit system eat our gold instead of our crafting mats. What the hell are we supposed to do with our stacks and stacks of style material now? Throw them away? There's not a single reason to keep them anymore aside from daily writs and even that's a weak point because you can buy junk mats for 15 gold each just when you need them to save on inventory space.

How much does it cost to dye them? This seems ridiculous, I can't wait for this to drop, but I have 12 characters that I'm gonna spend 3 hours each in creation. If I'm gonna pay $15/month, I would hope there is a some plus bonus that includes this system, haven't they been trying to add more value to the subscription for a while? I'm gonna go in-game broke after this drops...more so than I already am.

The gold amount is comical though, and the charge may not even be intentional (it might be a bug if I remember correctly).

I wish weapon dyeing was not a part of the outfit system but a standalone feature. I would like to dye my weapons without having to fiddle around with outfit slots_ I just wear costumes anyways. maybe one day, maybe

Yea it would have been nice if it was its own thing but better than no weapon dyes at all
