I am unbelievably surprised at a few of the things that are coming in this update. Home storage? in an MMo?? I don't think I have seen that before. RPG's with homes, yes. It's almost expected. This patch seems like it is completely focused on making the players all around happy. Bank space and costumes pull weight with dollar signs for mmo companies. *I actually argued with people a month ago saying "Why would the be asking to lose money? Home storage will never happen in a looting MMoRpg. I have gained respect and It's been a pleasure to play this game and watch company since its beta. Zenimax has earned my respect over a long haul. They should All be proud of this game. I'm sure nobody there predicted 2017 sales. Based on 4 years of observation in ESO, 2017 undeniable growth in population size, guild trader sales and of course, longer lags through major cities (lol).
*** I would appreciate positive outlooks and comments*** Either way, share your opinions/acknowledgements. How does this DLC appear to you?

LOTRO had housing storage as soon as it introduced housing.

Overall I'm very happy. I'm really looking forward to outfits, housing storage, some of the stuff that was datamined for the crown store, and trying (and likely failing) to get the skin/personality from the new dungeons. I'm also happy that you can finally earn a mount in game. I was hoping for something cooler, and for an achievement, but hey it's a step in the right direction.

I mainly tank though, so I'm a bit nervous about the blocking changes. And I'm curious/hoping that they will replace the reward for Cadwells Silver (nvm soul shriven moving was apparently an error in the pts notes). But overall I'm heavily leaning towards ecstatic for this update.

It's getting there. The more quality of life updates they implement the closer it gets to the standard I was used to in LOTRO. I compare other games to LOTRO an awful lot because LOTRO is so *old*. I mean like walker and Geritol old. And yet they have all the housing features that I would like to see eventually in ESO, all the outfit features I would like to see eventually in ESO, all the storage features...etc. This adding housing storage and the outfit system are a step in the right direction, but the housing storage is incredibly limited compared to LOTRO's and of course they have not upgraded their guest decorator system yet to be up to par with LOTRO's. So I see it as steps in the right direction but certainly not caught up to one of the older and clunkier games that's still successfully running. It is because of LOTRO's age that I very often say "if they can do it then *surely* ESO can do it with their newer, sleeker, modern coding."

Its always nice to see ZOS push an Update out that has a good bit of QoL in it. We're 4 years in and the game is starting to really feel like its very well polished. Theres still alot to be done, and thankfully the game is doing very well so I expect to see this game thriving well into the next 4 years.

Lets hope Guild Traders and Guilds in general get the next QoL push. They need it.

Patch looks good, in particular as it restores BG to noCP and gives a whopping amount of AP to encourage Pop

About things I wanted and we will get them:
    • Storage in houses. I wanted more than 360 slots, but its a start. Kudos to Zos on decision to make this move. I will buy a mansion for this feature.
    • Costume creation system. I wanted just transmog system but this seems very interesting, and better than what I wanted to see as part of ESO. Being able to finally dye weapons and even make them look different while keeping the benefits of equipped weapons is awesome! For example, you can wield an axe and make it look like a sword or mace. That is way beyond my wildest expectations and I must say I love the idea.
    • 15th char slot. As someone who have serious OCD issues I am glad they gave us this 15th slot. I don't care if I have to pay for it or not, finally being able to create another toon and have all 5 classes have 3 toons on my char list is quite satisfying for me.

Coming to ESO from the dumpster fire that is Destiny/Destiny 2, the difference between how ZOS handles not only updates/content and communication with the playerbase compared to Bungie is night and day. I am stunned at how much ZOS gives us and how clearly and frequently they communicate.

Yeah, lots more QoL improvements people have asked about for a long while (guild features, for example), so hopefully those are in the works as well.

There is no doubt, that Zenimax brings many quality of life improvements and that they create great content.
It's the combat changes that bugged me and others ever since and it never seems to improve. No matter what wonderful quality of life things they implement, it won't distract me from the things that truly matter in the end: Combat

    Trinimac is my shield,
    Magnus is my mind.

I will not be happy until they halt all new content releases for a full quarter and do a whole update dedicated to fixing bugs and looking back at old content and fixing issues with it. There are more than enough bugged old dungeon bosses or coding errors or game crashes they can look at.

And before someone says "well what will the art and design teams do if they aren't designing old content?"

Go look at some of the armor sets and costumes and how bad the clipping is. Try to equip something like automaton-arm cops or spriggans boots and watch how they float like a foot off your character and are not actually on them.

Not enough bug fixes in the patch notes for me to be happy with it. I could not care less about an outfit system. I'm more than fine with how most of the armor looks and if I don't like a particular armor set I'm using at the time i have plenty of costumes.

Happy, yes. Except tanks and PvE raiders.

why not pve raiders? and why not tanks?

    @altemriel
    To answer your question:

Because the block cost reduction glyphs will be moved from the bottom of the equation to the front. That will result in less bang for buck for block cost reduction glyph, while magicka regen glyphs will become BiS. Also, it won't be possible to reduce block cost to where it is now.

Ofc this is speculation, we all know PTS changes are almost never a sure thing and may even get rollbacked altogether, but that's why PvE tanks are sad.

No idea why pve raiders would be sad, synergies' cooldown increase to 30s from 20s..?

I'm pretty happy with the update. I wish the outfit creator would allow players to remove parts of outfit that they don't want to wear (shoulders, gloves, whatever). I thought that would be part of any design. As it is, with the armor you're wearing underneath showing through, the only utility I see is to cover dropped sets that can't be constructed. Otherwise, if I have to know the motif to make the outfit, then I'd just make the piece, right?

But yeah, it's still a nice addition. And the home storage is a godsend. I already have a use for that storage.

Overall, I have no real complaints.

I enjoy the game, but it feels buggy to me. I had problems just trying to use the guild trader yesterday, for example (no trader mods), and a weird bug where my boyfriend was still in werewolf form on my screen, but on his screen he wasn't. Weird glitchy-type stuff.

There is also room for improvement on general QoL. I've been playing for three months and feel like this is the least stable, less polished MMO I've ever played, in terms of bugs, general performance and QoL, and I've played a few. Yet, this may well be my favourite MMO to date, but please, hire someone who knows how to do some good QoL improvements.

Yes, there are lots of things I like, and while I could sing and dance about those, I'm not going to pretend the weak areas don't exist either.

The guild Trader is buggy along with other things. Correct me if I am wrong, but Zos is a rather small company. A massive game growing fast for limited employees. The game released for Bethesda's time expectancy, not Zenimax's. No, it wasn't ready by 2014, but I'm glad it released when it did.
    Recremen wrote: »
There's a lot of great features coming but some of the excitement is mitigated by the cost. Not the home storage so much for me (though certainly there are many taking issue at that expense, too), but the per-use cost for everything with the Outfit system. We're already paying to farm the motifs or buy them from the cash shop, we should not then need to spend gold every time we want to switch something up. Make it like every single other cosmetic system in the game and make it a one-and-done cost.

I figured there would be a cost *sigh*. I guess as long as it isn't crowns. There seems to be an issue when players get things for free though. We evolved to do work. If there is nothing to work towards, things wither. Btw, the bank storage is what irritates me. I'm a master crafter in everything except provisioning and I get about 1 master writ per 10 days. 200 vouchers is a long way off lol. I hate that currency but think it is genius at the same time. Same with Tel Var. P.S. I hope that there is a jewelry crafting one day! No idea how they will inc it though.

Zenimax focuses on making casual folks happy.

They are ruining comepetetive player's experience with every patch.

This time tho, removing of AOE caps looks good but its far from enough after all bad changes.

New interupt mechanic? I bet it will bring more bugs, potential exploits, ppl will have hard time to adjust. PVP folks are already salty but apparently Zenimax wants to feed us with more toxins.

PvP is on their priority list but I wouldn't be surprised if they wave those super competitive PVPers with a graceful "Goodbye". There seems to be an attachment of [Rage] that comes with them.

While it is nice to see a lot of improvements being made, I’m not exactly too thrilled by it all. It feels like some of the features being added should’ve been apart of the game since launch, as ESO is beyond the beta stages (although, it may not feel this way at times). I’m also not pleased with how ZOS are treating MagDK’s, as when I did PvP, it was my go-to class variant of choice.

But all and all, I have no idea how I should feel regarding the approaching update. All I can do is hope for the best, and just keep it moving. If I like what I see, indulge in it carefully. If I don’t, then just continue indulging in other games.

Idk why I'm even putting this part in my reply. I usually pay zero attention to people complaining about their class or other components that are they are just begging for a buff. I'm sure people are agreeing with you and all of the classes. I have heard complaining from them all. So it basically negates itself. we are all playing on the same level in those regards and perhaps you just need to "git good".

    No.

Hardly any consumer realizes that the reason things run faster is because of hardware advancement - the chips themselves doubling in speed every couple/few years. But the software isn’t running snappier because the newly created capacity is immediately taken up by programmers that include every plausible library.

It would shock people to find out that the older 1970’s hardware was perfectly capable of running multiple programs at once, and kept them running when they were shifted to the background. If I recall correctly, that was on OS/9. Operating system 9, back before Windows was even imagined.

The fastest sleekest code is not only what takes best advantage of the capabilities of the hardware - the multi core multi thread cpu - but also cuts out the extraneous unused operations. Fast is achieved by the hardware. Sleek is achieved by sending the extra to the editing room floor.
