People just love to complain about every little aspect when they don't have everything handed to them on a silver platter. They could have made it much more expensive, or crown store only, or something like transmute stones that could can only get from special ways, but they chose something as simple as gold.

Feel like I woke up in the twilight zone. Why are people complaining about gold? My gosh, if I can earn gold (and I mostly herp-a-derp around), then others can.

Same here. I really take the whole "it's the journey, not the destination" thing seriously and wander, and dither and poke around. Some days I barely engage in combat what with all the other things I have going on.

Even still, I somehow manage to have enough gold to buy what I need. And that's with deconstructing most everything. I imagine I'd have a fair bit more if I wasn't doing that.

As long as you can use gold instead of crowns, this system is free. A fee in gold means nothing.

I really don't get why people whine about such things?

Yeah the gold sink part is fine, that's what it was on WoW that's what a healthy MMO economy needs to combat inflation. However, I'm wondering if it's going to be one outfit per character unless you unlock more, or one outfit per account unless you unlock more. THAT is what worries me.

You get one outfit per character for free

I appreciate that they are finally adding this, but I'm severely disappointed that it is not tied to crafters being the ones to supply the service. It seems that Blacksmith, Clothier and Woodworker are almost useless. Most people wear dropped sets.

You didn't honestly expect them to make it for free, did you?

Housing storage is welcome...I just hope I can remember which residence I stashed things in. I would appreciate some sort of joined personal vault across all homes to avoid that.

Off topic, but I can answer that from the stream.

Each chest from the collectable menu is the same chest in every house you own, and you can rename them appropriately such as 'Laundered Countess Treasures' and 'vMA Weapons'. Every home you place that particular chest in will have access to the same contents. So it's not 8 chests x however many houses you own, it's 8 chests total accessible from any home you own, so it really IS like a shared vault.

The prices varied from 100 gold per item to 2k gold per item and it was shown and said on yesterdays Live stream, depends on the rarity of the motif. This thread is in Shakespeares words "Much ado about nothing" and in my own words worry about it when it gets here, there will be loads of info coming out of PTS beginning next Monday

I don't even know what to say.

A system based on IN GAME CURRENCY in the lootbox and microtransactions era is the last thing I expected to see people complaining about.

I was pleasantly surprised to know it is gold-based. I never expected it not to be offered exclusively through crown tokens.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Outside of crafters needing to buy bulk supplies or the achievement furnishings, Having alot of gold isn't really that necessary compared to other games, so I'm fine with gold being used. (Alternatively, I would've also been okay with Transmute Crystals being renamed "Transformation Crystals" or something and being used for both Transmog and Transmuting services.)

That is an interesting question, but my guess is that Outfits behave like equipment, not costumes, as far as Dyes are concerned.

Yes, for the Telvanni motif. It is 100g per piece for the base motifs. Numbers might change before it goes Live, though.

I can't help but think that someone influential inside ZOS does not like crafting. It sort of seems like it is the redheaded stepchild. When they introduced Furniture, they could have really expanded and enhanced it, but they sort of just bolted it on the side in a way that really didn't make a lot of sense. They nerfed resources so that crafters are less effective outside their level bands. Dropped sets have partially replaced crafting. It really seems like it is a side feature, an idle hobby, for the player, rather than an integral part of the game. They haven't outright killed it, but they also haven't done it many favors.

Outfit system is a minor nerf to crafting. While characters cannot craft in a style they don't know, they get to look the part. There isn't much for crafters in this update. The furniture boxes cannot be crafted. There is no need for a crafter to do Outfits.

This game really needs a crafting overhaul, but not until they get someone in there that can advocate for a worthy RPG crafting system.

They said something like 100g per piece of the most basic styles (like Breton) and 2000g per piece for the most intricate styles (like Telvanni). We’ll know more when PTS arrives. I’m hyped! It won’t be a huge gold sink even in the most extreme cases. If it’s too pricey then ignore it - you didn’t lose anything lol.

@Llogwey has an incredible website located here where you can view every piece of gear both in their style sets and individually to help make these costumes!

I do not understand. Does OP want this completely locked behind the crown store?

If not gold, then what? Besides, I do not see in the OP the gold cost. It may be merely a few thousand gold with is something anyone that has been playing for a couple months should easily have.

Besides, the game hardly has gold sinks.

16K for the most pricy outfit, much less or less rare styles.

Gosh I hope this is satirical. Aren't weapon dying and make-your-own-costume the most requested cosmetic features? And now that they're coming, it's not good enough because it's not 100% instant and cost-free?

Games are the favored realm of the entitled.

I should've known there'd be a catch. They can't give us something we really want without putting in a way to make us work for it.
You will have access to one unique outfit that you can customize using gold, but you will also be able to acquire Outfit Change Tokens and additional Outfit Slots from the Crown Store, allowing you to have a variety of outfits ready to go at a moment's notice.

So basically, everyone who's been playing the ESO economy and have millions because of that have absolutely no need to fret. Those of us who don't, and scrape by with whatever gold we come across are gonna feel the pain, and will resort to spending Crowns. Wonderful.

    Just like real life?

Just more of the "have-nots" being jealous of the "haves". Just like in real life.

It's respectable to see someone admit their mistake. Honestly, no sarcasm. However, I think the general lesson we all should take from this is perhaps we shouldn't try to start a crusade based on assumptions. These forums seem really rich on those right now, even I as someone who disapproves of 9/10 things Zeni do find it ridiculous.

    2k x 7 = 14'000 k lets say 10 characters - already 140k just one outfit per character...so i think thats really expensive to be honest...

Honestly that should've been Housing. Each one are hundreds of thousands if not several million in gold. But at the same time to buy with gold you also need a corresponding Achievement and I think people just can't be bothered so they buy it the fast way. And then are still stuck with the "I have so much gold with nothing to buy" problem.
