Thoughts on back barring clever duke?

Well, not my favourite set either because it has a low uptime & kinda starts controlling your potion usage... it also suffers from the same issue many destro/resto builds do: you "lose" a good 4p when you weapon swap back to main bar.

It's one of the biggest reasons I decided to ditch Eyes of Mara (which I still think is a great set for sustain): you just don't benefit from the Summerset 2H changes.

But if you do decide to try out Alchemist, let me know how it works out. Should be some pretty nice leaps after you pop a potion.

Edit: on a build with infused potion cooldown reduction enchants on jewelry Alchemist could be really solid... I'd need an argonian mDK to try that out tho :P

The infused jewelry with those glyphs already crossed my mind but I’m also not argonian haha. I’ll mess with clever tonight though and see how it does. I think the big leaps will benefit out numbered situations.

    Not really, no.

I like Triune because you do need a sizable health pool (25k+) to survive certain burst combos.

There's an argument for going 3x Swift for even more mobility, but I feel that's excessive with Empowering Chains & Race Against Time.

Other than that, there's Protective which usually is an excellent trait as you get 5,5k mitigation from 3x (more than Brass 5p), but as this build uses Healing Ward for defense it loses value.

So it's really either Infused for maximum damage or Triune for bigger health pool (and extra stam for blocking/dodging).

Infused was where my head was going. Our mag pool sits in between 34-37k depending on second sets, was curious if infused would out perform arcane in a cp environment. Especially if my second set ends up being clever.

@DDuke why use willpower resto instead of Torugs? You lose a slight amount of back bar damage but Torugs gives a larger healing ward

Nope, you get very slightly higher tooltip with Willpower resto (6783 & 2912 heal vs Torug's 6779 & 2910 heal).

That's in noCP with Major Sorcery & weapon dmg enchant active.

    In CP:
    7219/3099 Torug's
    7254/3114 Willpower

Barely any difference tho, so it doesn't really matter. I guess if you get resource/scroll buff etc Torug's becomes better.

I’ve slotted wings as dduke suggested. Helps counter the countless sorcs and snipers that are roaming about. Other than that it’s kill or be killed.

    I've always ran wings.

Iv just tried this build out yesterday with Overwhelming, BSW & Skoria.
    Is it worth having 3 x well-fitted, 4 x Impen?
Iv found myself roll dodging a bit and it’s been working fine.

Also what would you consider as an alternative to Overwhelming? Lich? Wizards?

Looking forward to your updated build!

I like well-fitted, it's a really underrated trait (especially for builds with dmg shield based defense) - helps a lot with sustain. I might give it a shot when I have transmutation stones, but I haven't tested it yet on mDK. It's especially good in BGs where the crits are less scary & less frequent (so Impen loses value).

At the moment you could replace Overwhelming with Sloads and it'd probably work out better even, but since it's getting nerfed next patch I don't know if I'd craft it right now.

I think Riposte would be my second choice as it makes you a lot more tanky (which also helps with sustain as you need a lot less Healing Wards then), but you're going to notice the difference in dmg.

    Thanks man.

Have you given much thought to Jourvands guidance? Purely as a back set?

It would literally buff everything on the back bar.
Race against time, healing ward, volatile Armor, molten Armor. Might be an interesting alternative sustain set?

Still haven’t had a chance to try clever, but riposte would be an interesting choice for group. Rip Xbox servers though, can’t even log in.

    Could be very nice, yeah.

I haven't tested it myself though (missing the resto staff for that), but on paper it looks good and doesn't hurt damage too bad as you can back bar it without losing a good offensive 4p and can then just slot 2x willpower jewelry (buffing max magicka on both bars) for example.

Same as before, except since I don't run Embers anymore I keep FoO on main bar & Race Against Time on back bar.

    I.e.
Empower Chains, FoO, Elemental Drain, Fossilize, Flame Lash, Leap
Volatile Armor, Race Against Time, Healing Ward, Molten Armaments, Reflective Plate, Life Giver

@Lloydmp jorvuulds is terrible for any build using healing ward since it delays the burst heal

Healing ward isn’t really what’s healing me, I mean it does but you get heals from lash and embers and in fights the shield isn’t lasting enough to get that burst heal.

Hmmmm.. I’ll try it out on PTS and see how it feels.

Thanks for the info though Lexxy

With dropping embers, how are you finding your skoria procs? Noticing any difference?
I’ll try front baring FoO tomorrow and seeing how it plays.

I also tired dropping Overwhelming for wizards today and noticed the drop in dmg right away.

Switch to S&B back bar with igneous and DB and use spell pots. Maybe throw some protective jewelry on if you feel too squishy. With cauterize + DB healing isn't an issue so you can focus on weaving since you have to give up a slot for igneous. I sit at 23k phys resist before a bloodspawn proc in light armor -> no protective jewelry.

    Not really.

Healing Ward is still the best shield because it isn't health capped.

Just slot Mist Form, cast Healing Ward then cast Mist...Mist form 75% damage reduction applies to your Ward so you can LOS and get most of the heal from it. If you want to be even more trolly slot Pirate Skeleton :)
