Two-hander instead of DW

I just leveled up a Stamplar and I’m using 2H Bow. My bar looks exactly like that but trap and POL swapped. I may try switching them like yours.

Using VO Hundings Master 2H Maelstrom Bow and my sloppy terribad self barely getting 25k on 3 mil skeleton. I am pretty happy with that though.

The StamBlade is much stronger with DW, I tried 2H but class execute I think trumps 2H by a good deal.

Maelstrom bow doubles endless hail quite literally. Masters 2H is super strong on trash, though I don’t think 2H in general adds much on single target. Maybe swap in Ballista. It does crazy single target damage.

Change the build a little for what you want to do and even within certain content. 4 Man, Maelstrom and 12Man Trials all need slightly different setups. PvP is its own different beast. I would note that Bone Pirate is for Cyrodil what VO has done for Maelstrom.

I've used 2h on all classes in trials for fun sometimes (even did vHoF on a 2h stamblade), and what I can tell you is that you can definitely do nice dps on it, bus it's just less than DW, sadly. Since they removed the possibility of critical hits on the cleave of light and heavy attacks it got worse, because the only thing that made 2h useful was the higher cleave damage it had.

From a dps-perspective. I'd range the classes in the following order:

    1. Stamblade, since they have so many nice class abilities including a spammable that gets empowered by the heavy attack bonus.
    2. Stamsorc, they just put out the highest raw damage, but the rotation with wrecking blow feels boring and clunky.
    3. Stamplar, also nice class skills that enable them to do decent damage.
    4. Stay warden, had high hopes for them, but was disappointed by how bad they performed.
    5. Stamina DK I didn't think they'd be as bad. But the problem is that 2h heavy attacks take longer than dual wield ones, leading to less dots that you can weave in between so the additional dots don't do a lot for you.

    Hopefully these come back. :pensive:

Has the "two-hander counts as two weapons for gear sets" announcement for Summerset made a difference in anyone's opinion about their relative value versus other weapon choices?

People keep saying "now 2h will be viable finally" as though the only problem was that one missing set piece. So perception has changed slightly but once all the SS dps build guides come out with DW/bow, it will be back in the same place.

For myself, nothing has changed. I use asylum axe+vMA bow so nothing would change. I might dummy parse a little better with briarheart axe + monster set but in real world I think the ulti gain may still be more helpful. In fact, now that ZoS is giving 2h this "buff" they will now be even less likely to buff 2h.

2h is fine And vet endgame ready but at a dps loss, not a big enough loss to change the outcome of a trial but PvElitists won't give it a fair look solely for that reason. Also, if you think DW wins on survivability alone you either don't know how to capitalize on 2's brawler - the best stam dmg shield in the game - or the Stam element of your raid doesn't know how to manage mechanics and stands in red b/c it thinks parsing their epeens are more important than playing the instance as it lies.

Slightly related note: 2h is way more fun to pilot imo

But brawler shield needs many ads to be strong. In a long boss fight with no, infrequent or spread out ads, it only blocks 1 light attack from your health.

2W is stronger than 2H single target, and 2H is slightly better in AoE than 2W because of skills and passives, not the fact that you can equip a full monster set with 2W. A 2nd piece monster set never adds more than 3K DPS, but those passives and skills do a much more.

They need to add in a 2h lance that gives weapon crit, equivalent to daggers from dw line.
