Roll back your nvidia driver to the previous one, it will fix the problem, as i said above.
oh, are your a developer?
i dont see the zenimax sign on your nametag soo .. my comment was intended for a zenimax employee here on the "PC Technical Support" and i put my comment here directed right towards a developer and zenimax tech guy.
Lol, well myself and others have tried to help ya, good luck in your arrogance dude.
what you are suggesting doesnt work for me, it does not fit my situation.
and, how does insulting me help this situation?
As said, there recently was a hotfix for some nvidia users who had issues, never mind many who had issues with the very recent windows update, so get the hotfix or rollback.
There was no insult to you, the way you spoke to Anotherone however, was arrogant.
I merely called a spade a spade.

your advice has nothing to do with what i needed for help. infact it made the problem worse.
and yes there was insult,

my issue, is with eso tech, i came here to this section for tech advice from a developer and specifically even said that.
i looked and and attempted the ideas suggested here but they are not what i need help with.
your insult and then claiming you are not insulting me has nothing to do with my technical issue its just adding frustration to an allready frustrated situation!

So i will enlighten you, though i should just let you suffer. I had this problem....do you know what i did? I contacted ZOS customer support. Do you know what customer support told me? " It sounds like a driver problem with the new release of nvidia drivers, here is nvidia support link. Contact them about the issue to see if it is . IF you need further anything from us, reply to this ticket"
So do you know what i did then? I contacted nvidia support. Do you know what nvidia support told me? " It sounds like the new driver is causing conflicts in some games." Once i confirmed some other questions in that email about my computer and if i was having trouble with other games i got the reply i stated above in my first comment. That is the solution to Win7/8 64 bit. If you are running something else you will have to find the similar driver to roll back too.
However, that is the solution and it lies completely with nvidia and has ZERO to do with ZOS. FYI you are posting on a forum, if you want private assistance, fill out a support ticket....like i did. If you want solutions that worked for other people this is where you go. The ZOS employees on this forum are not your own personal support team. That is not their job. That is why their is a support link on the website.

Thats not what this forum is for. You need specific tech support fill out a support ticket. This forum is more for self help and help from players. You also need to, if your contacting support generate a report using the launcher to include with the ticket. So actual support can determine what is going on with your pc. You want general help, post your problem here. You want tech help, fill out a support ticket. However if you have the problem stated in this thread and its recent( within the last couple of weeks) then 99% chance its an nvidia driver issue.
I updated my Windows. Didn't bother with GForce or Nvidia. Restarted and was able to log in to ESO again.""DirectX 11.3 and 12 are included with these Windows versions. There is no stand-alone package for these versions of DirectX."

Just in defense of @dwemer_paleologist, I had this same issue. Worked fine last night, logged in with "DirectX not compatible" window.
Every one told him it was a Nvidia issue. He said that solution didn't work. Why give him grief? Yes they got offensive, but I kinda don't blam them, as I was P****D when I couldn't log in today!!
TLDR: No, it's not 99% Nivida Driver Issue. The issue with the error was "Your DirectX version is unsupported. Get Help:".
I will post again the MS Windows quote:I updated my Windows. Didn't bother with GForce or Nvidia. Restarted and was able to log in to ESO again.""DirectX 11.3 and 12 are included with these Windows versions. There is no stand-alone package for these versions of DirectX."
Note: There are sometimes several solutions to a problem. Just because your answer wasn't the right one doesn't mean the other person is wrong.
My 2 Drakes: If Nvidia updates don't work, go to your Windows update as this is how you update DirectX... Huzzah!
