DirectX Issue

I've seen there's been old threads about this that were closed and the mods suggested to open a new topic,

The Problem:
hzzynezaen4m.png

I get this error whenever I put my computer to sleep, wake it up and want to start the game (via Steam) or sometimes even regardless of sleep state, e.g. after playing it, playing another and then going back into it.

The error message suggest to check my DirectX version but that is always the latest, currently 12, while the article talks about 11.

This error started appearing recently after some patches.

Temporary solution:
Reboot the computer

Try updating the graphics card drivers, that's what worked for me.

They are already updated, so wasn't able to do that. I did reboot my pc, tho and that seemed to resolve the problem this time.

The newest nvidia driver (397.31) causes conflicts with ESO. I was going to tell you that you need to roll back your driver, but i just got this from Nvidia about 2 hours ago

    "Hello ,

    Thank you for your patience.

We have released an hotfix driver to fix the issue with 397.31.

    HotFix driver link : http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4661?linkId=100000002342089

Looking forward for your reply to assist you further.

I've been getting this issue as well over the past few weeks (and over multiple driver versions, which were always the latest available at the time). So far the only thing I've found that solves the problem is to reboot, as the OP stated.

Installing the new 397.55 hotfix (posted above) works perfectly for me.
