I'm not sure how ESO is NOT a MMO... but the guy above me explains better why.
    Toon list:
    PC NA:
Chip Ahoy: Magicka Templar khajiit WW healer and crafter of metals, clothes, leather and wood
Rose Scale: Magicka Nightblade argonian WW DPS and 'evil' toon (steals stuff from barrels)
Snip Ahoy: Stamina Dragonknight khajiit WW tank
Walks-Through-Corn: Magicka Templar argonian Vampire tank and also cooks food
Snowy Kitten: Magicka Sorcerer khajiit WW healer and also makes glyphs
Valerie Ahoy: Stamina Nightblade khajiit WW DPS/tank
Mixes-With-Mud: Stamina Warden khajiit WW DPS and also mixes potions
    Tyrenan: Magicka Warden khajiit healer
Always-Brings-Light: Magicka Dragonknight argonian WW DPS
Howls-At-Moons: Stamina Warden argonian WW healer
Giggles-At-Everything: Stamina Sorc argonian WW DPS
Hugger-Of-Griffons: Stamina DK argonian WW poison focused DPS and ring/necklace crafter.

Wishlist from ZOS: Chestnut Unicorn mount and the Lilmothiit race, would definitely pay 10K crowns or even 20K crowns for it.

Cite your sources for "the majority of your players solo".

Then go stand in line behind the "why are you locking an event behind PvP?", "why do you force questing for events?", "not fair that event achievements require dlc", "my local laws don't allow me to participate in the contest, shame on Zeni for being compliant with laws and denying me free stuff" complainers.

Don't need "sources" when common sense works just fine.

Why do you think Craglorn failed? Why do you think all overland content was leveled out and made easier? Why do you think the only content in the game that requires groups is mainly Vet dungeons?

If the majority of the players grouped, the majority of the game would require groups, as it did before all the players started leaving, resulting in them having to change everything, remove subs as a requirement, and Matt Firor declared the game wasn't an mmo .

    It's not rocket science, amigo.

Edit: By the way, everyone repeating the "It's an mmo" when it has been declared by ZOS that it is not, as well as the "Go play Skyrim" folk, are only resulting in me laughing.

Questing in groups is different from doing dungeons in groups. People who like questing usually prefer to take their time, read everything etc. Everyone does it at their own pace, so group questing isnt a very enjoyable experience.
This scenario is completely different. If you played this game for a while, you've probably already done the dungeon quests.
Also, if you dont want to participate in the event, just skip it. Its not like you're going to get all manors and crown store items for free anyway.

And what if a "solo" player is kicked out of the group (via random dungeon finder) because someone decides he or she's not "champion enough"?
MMO means just that... lots of people play the same game, and are IN the same game, at the same time.

Chances are, they will be grouped with other solo players.
In any case, you can ask in zone chat and group with someone (at least one player) and queue together... Then no one will kick you because it requires 3 votes.

I think the whole point of this is to encourage people to start doing group content.

Many people who are afraid now of doing it, and joining groups will give it a try and some of them will probably like it because pve group content is actually much more fun and chalanging than solo.

would be nice to be able to group up. I have tried and waited for over an hour to group up and never do. So I stopped doing this. Has this been fixed?

“We don’t even use the term MMO with The Elder Scrolls Online anymore, because really it’s not,” game director Matt Firor says. “MMO was a term coined in 1997 with Ultima Online, EverQuest, and Dark Age of Camelot – we are not that game.”

    https://www.pcgamesn.com/the-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited/the-elder-scrolls-online-MMORPG

Go look at the basic definition of MMO...

    M - Massively
    M - Multiplayer
    O - Online

    ESO is, arguably, massive.
    ESO is obviously multiplayer..
    ESO is online....

To be frank, Firor was pulling crap out of thin air when he said that.

    D - Download
    L - Load
    C - Content.

Morrowind doesn't equal DLC? Yes I know off topic, but since this is Zenimax and we are going to go by your terminology to defend Zenimax, only fair. :)

Just because something is Massively Mulitplayer Online doesn't mean it has to be. Heck if even 25% or even 1 % play the game as a single player experience then it's not 100% Multiplayer. Doesn't Multiplayer mean working with other people? So we can see that Elder Scrolls Online can also be a single player game that requires online connection. So Elder Scrolls Online is NOT a true MMO then going by your definition. :)

Ooh this is news to me, also some normal delves can be solo'd, I'm looking at you FG 1

Yeah, if it required just running a dungeon that'd be fine.Tying it to dungeon finder however means group or no soup.

yep, this is the part that gave me pause, personaly. mind you - i have done random dungeons before - leveled my templar through them in fact, so I can get through this event ok, via combination of full on pugging and running some of the dungeons with my guildies (yes, I'm going to attempt this on more then one character per day) .

but it still kinda sucks that it specifically requires groupfinder and what's more - it requires random group finder. which means that DLC dungeons are very likely and honestly? I'm not at all a fan of those things. personaly. but random is random :/

so I feel you OP, even if the "its an MMO, group or gtfo" gloating contingent - does not.

would MUCH rather this was tied to quests in general. so could be soloed. OR allow to do specific dungeons rather then random (and before the - why do it on more then one character and low level characters don't get DLC dungeons - I have high level characters. and while extra entry into sweepstakes is one a day, the box of mystery is one per day per character)

dear ZOS. pushing people into content they do not enjoy by trying to entice them with shinies, doesn't make those people enjoy the content. they either force their way through it, ruining the fun for people who actualy enjoy the content in a process. or they get fed up and leave.

I would assume its an incentive to get people to use the feature after they've made some changes...or am I the only one who thinks logically?

I think you're right but the snark wasn't needed.

See this sort of attempt in other MMOs as well and I've no issue with it. Some folks are just shy or reticent about grouping and/or PvPing and it's nice that offers are made to encourage that. I don't even care if content is"gated" since I *could* partake if I wanted.

    And here's some extra perspective...

So called "solo" content (apart from Main Quest line or alike) or events can be played in groups...whereas events "meant" to be "group activity" (like the latest ZOS' "invention") cannot be finished by a solo player.... So, I guess, understand OP's complaints. If someone plays solo...in order to participate in this event has to group... does not have other option.
I guess someone, for whom "multiplayer" means "me and my folks", does not understand that some may not be happy about ZOS locking some rewards..or events behind "Hey, you have to group man if you want to participate".
    It's simple as that...
    PC/NA
    - Redguard StamBlade dps ["bowtard" crafty girl who likes spinning with daggers too.]
    - Breton SorcMag dps [She's got an identity crisis, but I believe in her.]
    - Dunmer Templar dps/healer [she's a healer, then again she likes inferno staff too...]
    And..
    - High Elf SorcMag dps [It's quite possible his daddy was a Nord.]

All you have to do is act like an npc and the mean people leave you alone, or silently judge you.

Just give your character an NPC like name like Miles Bossley or something.

This is a common tactic most other MMO's use. WoW gives you extra rewards for queuing as tank or healer, for example.
Like I said, you don't like grouping up, then don't. No one's saying you have to group. BUT...if you want to earn the reward, you'll do what needs to be done to earn it. In this case, it's joining a dungeon finder group. If you're not willing to do that, how have you earned the reward?
We just had a event that was largely able to be solo'ed in the Witches event. Now, it's time for a group event. Not everything in a MMO is, or should be, solo friendly. As much as you're trying to bag on "its a mmo, group or gtfo" thing, you are doing the same thing from a solo perspective.
There is a middle ground, and that means not everything is going to be for everyone. And if it's not for you, you miss out on the reward.
Again, that's your choice, and that's the fair thing to do.

I was rather disappointed by the format of this sweepstakes..

A lot of people are excluded due to the country of their residency.

Why not have something in-game EVERYONE can enjoy.

From what I understand the IN-GAME DUNGEON EVENT also has restrictions applied? Am I wrong or can everyone participate?
