Retirement in ESO

I have been in this game for a long time, spent most of my time in pvp but I need to work (farm mat, do writ, sell stuff) a bit to support my living in ESO.

I accumulated a lump sum of gold and start to think if I can retire from work (farming) while my saving can support what I want to do. Meaning I don't need to run around to do the dailies, selling stuff in guilds for half an hour before I head to Cyro. I just play as I want and dont need to worry about money (gold).

Assuming I will play for another 5 years. My cost per month is around 200k and need 15M to retire :s I still need to continue to work (farm)...

Have you thought about this? How much gold do you need in order to retire?

You could do a partial retirement and PvP in IC... use the tel bar stones to buy alchemy satchels..

If I contemplate playing ESO in 5 years I might as well do this now....

retirement is possible in Dungeons and Dragons Online and i have tasted of that.
but i have not seen retirement in any other MMO, if retirement is possible in ESO then i can only think it could happen by earning that 15 million, as you suggested. (which sounds like some very serious hard work)

What do you spend gold on each month that adds up to 200k?

I play as I want and don't worry about gold. It just sits on in my bank unspent.
I actually have no need for gold except repairs and mount training, so I am curious.

While it's a nice thought and I applaud your forward thinking, ultimately there is no amount of gold that will sustain you indefinitely because there will always be more features and items added to the game that will require gold-sink.

A better strategy is to save up real life fake currency (ie USD) and strike a deal with a North Korean prison complex wherein you pay them a stream of USD and they pay you a stream of ESO gold farmed by their inmates. Then at least your RL investment can earn a return to beat inflation and sustain your ESO gold requirements.

Ok I am kind of confused, if you pvp then you should get gold from the rewards and also at the end of the campaign rewards. Also you can use your AP buy gold jewelry and sell that in pve.

I've accumulated enough gold to not have to "work" for gold anymore. By doing the content I like and getting rewards, drops etc I can sustain most of my expenses. I occasionally flip items on guildtraders for gold, but that's only if I have a few minutes while I wait for a trial or dungeonrun to start.

I am independently wealthy in eso. I do some farming, but it’s minimal and I only do it when I want to — I find it fun sometimes. I have friends whom I taught to farm, and suppliers who farm a ton of stuff. I buy their product at discount prices and then sell it on my guild stores. My friends and suppliers get quick gold, happy to move product and help me as a friend, and I take the long term profit by waiting for everything to sell on the end consumer market. I clock in sales as a top trader across the two best trade guilds on NA/PC while putting like a half hour into it every few days. Lol

I have all the gold I could want to spend on theorycrafting, I give a lot away to close guildies and friends, and I’m kicking off weekly 2 mil tournaments in Legend next weekend.

I earned a bunch of gold farming and trading aggressively in the past, and now my money works for me. That’s eso retirement if I’ve ever heard of it.

I’ve retired for the most part, and purchased myself a house on the hills. I used to chase after becoming #1 on the PvE leaderboards, and being a legendary PvP’er. Nowadays, I just do VMA to test out builds and farm materials. I fish and do quests, with some DPS rotation practicing every here and there to make sure I don’t get too rusty and out of the loop. I tidy up my island/resort, and make sure my stronghold is always prim and proper. Times are good, and I’m hoping that things continue to remain as such.

So in that case, plan accordingly. Start off buying yourself a rather grand and luxurious home. Then, proceed with doing whatever needs to be done in acquiring said furniture. Then, simply go about handling your business in decorating said home. Of course there are steps in between those that I listed, but they all vary from person to person. And only you ultimately know the answers to the blanks which need to be filled in.

I've got 20 million in the bank, I do my writs on 14 toons a day and once I hit 30 million I'll reduce that to one toon a day and 'retire'.

Hmm... If need to sell thing to support my life, worry about which one will sell, that is not a retirement, i guess

I have 5 crafting toons and 3 Millions only. I limited myself to 3.5 minutes per toon to do writs everyday. Another 10 minutes for me to look around and put stuff in guild stores. To me, this is painful.

You "worked" harder than I am, and I guess the wealth is directly proportional.

I have a home with roughly already 3 million in it minus the cost of the home. Its the Mathiisen Manor. I like it but its not where it needs to be lol.The gold furnishing items this week must be selling like crazy though
