Climbing system for ESO. Possible or impossible?

Climbing system is not a stranger function. Many modern game apply that system successfully . I'm not an IT man, but I realize physic engine Havoc has been used inside ESO, I hope that in the future Zos can apply climbing system for thier game. This will help enhance gamer's experience alot . It's my obinion

I can think of a couple of complications.

A lot of the models have "icy tops" so that we cannot stand on them. If we try, we just slide off. Any system that supports climbing would have to fix that. Additionally, there are probably a number of models that have no collision on top, and may not even have a top to them, if we are never to see them from that angle. (This is also a problem with flying)

Climbing would allow players to bypass restrictions placed in the game to prevent objectives from being easily obtained. A lot of quests and dungeons (all types) would have to be reviewed to make sure that they were compatible with climbing. (This is also a problem with flying)

I am under the impression that Havok is not really used as the game is being played. I was under the impression that they used Havok to "pre-calculate" the physics.

Nothing insurmountable, to be sure, but probably costly.

The climbing system in ESO is similar to the climbing system in other Elder Scrolls games.

    Or a levitation scroll ;)

I'm afraid I take some of the obstructions personally - they were put there just to frustrate me because I'm on the wrong side of the cliff and now I will have to backtrack for miles. I particularly detest the jungle zones for this* because you don't always know you're blocked off because of all the trees... until you reach the cliff and then it is a frustrating ten minutes going back, then even further in the wrong direction until you can find a break and then come all the way back again.

    * And for the chirpy, cockney bosmer.

True! Morrowind was like, "Walk all the way back to Balmora because I walked down the wrong foyada? Screw that! I'm a mage!"

    *casts levitation*

"Ah, this is the way to travel. Floating serenely in the air...why don't I do this all the time?"

    "Augh! Cliffracers!"

To me, what is worse is going to an obvious place that you should be able to get through, or climb up, only to find out that some unnamed developer has placed a transparent wall there, or the model they are using has a collision box that is way too large. Rather than making the terrain look impassible, or better, fixing the world so that there is something there to explore, they drop in a barrier to keep people out.

I actually commended them on Vvardenfell. In too many places, in too many other zones, they have arbitrary walls to prevent access to areas. Except for the mountain, Vvardenfell has tons of climbable areas where they have not plopped transparent boxes to keep you off the furniture.

I have been too busy this fall to fully explore Clockwork City's climbing opportunities. From what I have seen though, a lot of it looks like it is open and they don't have child locks and gates in place.

While I do not pretend to know how precisely ESO is coded, implementing any sort of climbing system would mean:

    a) Reworking all the maps to introduce "climbable" terrain.

    b) Reworking character animations and, if appropriate, controls for such.

    c) Adjusting content (quests, whatever) to account for the climbing system. [Can an encounter be bypassed? Can a boss be killed safely from up high? Can monsters climb terrain? Etc.]

I suppose if someone gives Zenimax $100 million in spare cash on the condition they put in a climbing system, they might do it. If I were such an individual, however, I'd keep the $100 million and, if I were really, really interested in climbing within a video game, spend $50 of it on an Assassin's Creed title.

Sadly unless stuff and dev team drastically changes i really dont see an eso 2 maybe fallout if they can pull a defiance mmo style third and fps gameplay with a way to vats without stopping time (figure it would work like an ultimate build up target high accuracy and dmg)

Launch zones have invisible walls all over the place, back when the game was designed to be Dark of Age Camelot 2. Only after they revealed the game and suddenly realized players wanted to play an Elder Scrolls game did they start designing zones with more freedom in mind, along with a first person view option and being able to travel anywhere at any level.

So if you like climbing things, go to the newer zones. Older ones you'll run into invisible walls constantly. Newer zones are much less restrictive on that front.

Fallout MMO as destiny combat, BDO level sandbox, limited leveling/sets. Instead progress to top maxed out power armour/armour/weapons. No classes. Progression gives active buffs to combat to increase skillcap instead of raw stats. Cosmetics microtransactions only. Would be perf.

It would have to be an animation, and emote if you will. Kind of like a mini cut scene. The physics system in the game wont allow for a more parkour feel... Even though I personally think adding a parkour style of play similar to Black Desert would be amazing!

    It just wont happen. :(
