For those with crashing issues (like me) what do you think the problem is?

My ESO sessions are never without crashes. It often happens in dungeons but it also happens doing other things such as logging out to character screen or just moving from point A to point B. However it seems to me that a good portion (majority or minority, no idea) of the players do not suffer from crashes. I'm assuming console players' gaming experience is more stable aside from server issues, but please feel free to enlighten us if that's not the case.

Anyway, I tried removing all addons, use repair tool in launcher, updating all drivers, using lowest settings, run updater, uninstall and reinstall ESO. If you have other suggestions I'd love to know. Also, I'd like to know if you believe if the problem is with my PC or ZOS, or both. All in all, I'm getting really tired of crashing and I have no hope that it'll get fixed..

The fun fact is is that my game tends to crash while closing the game. Also when I overclock my CPU, everything runs fine exept ESO. The problem most likely lies within the client.

Mine crashes while closing the game too, but majority of the time it's during gaming session

Since CWC my game has crashed three times when attempting to log out. This didn't happen before CWC.
Coincidence; I think not.

Yeah.. but that's what I expected. Happens every patch.

What kind of crash are you experiencing? My whole computer locks up and I have to hot the reset button.

That being said, I've tried on my laptop without any crashes in 5-6 ish hours of playtime, which leads me to believe it is something with the game interacting with hardware components.

On PC NA and I rarely if ever get a crash. I run a good number of add-ons too.

One thing you did not mention is opening ports on your firewall. Also make sure to tell your AV to allow the game. I also have no background apps running when I game.

My crashes are those with error message popping up asking me to describe what I was doing. As for your laptop situation it's probably due to your graphic card overheating. When it reaches certain temperature your laptop will automatically shut down to protect itself basically. I've owned three gaming laptops before so I have experienced exact same thing. Normal cooling fans will help you, but your laptop will overheat anyway.

I think I tried the firewall before but I might be confusing with another game. I'll try it at home, thank you. As for AV I have none. I compartmentalize my personal stuff from gaming PC so I don't care if my PC gets virus. Three PC's serving diff purposes. They won't steal anything from me and I'd just format and reinstall everything.

My laptop is the system that doesn't have problems, it's my gaming rig that does.

My game freezes sometimes in dungeons (I think it may be a graphical problem) but also in rare occasions when I'm closing the client. The most frustrating part of this is that I can't close the client no matter what, UNLESS I restart my computer. The client window takes priority to float on top of all the windows, I can't close it with alt+F4 or kill it with the task manager. Only restarting my computer will force it to close.

Can't even remember the last time the game crashed for me. It did a few times during beta.

I basically only have crash when closing the game, this began consistently happening after last patch. I VERY rarely get a crash during actual play.

Any chance you could post the non-personal contents of the autogenerated crash report?

Windows Task manager is often bad at taking priority to stay on top. I suggest the free program Process Explorer that actually stays on top when fullscreen programs freeze up, so you can force close them.

This was pretty much my experience too until the CC update. Since the update my game will freeze 3 or 4 times in about four hours of gameplay, usually in combat but not always. The screen is frozen and the game does not respond to any mouse or keyboard input. My desktop PC is still responsive and I can close the ESO window and restart the game. My hardware is getting pretty old now and I run several add-ons so I'm not trying to place any blame but these events never occurred until the latest update. That probably doesn't help you at all, lol. But maybe it might provide some insight into the issue. Hope you get it sorted.

I crash on average every 90 minutes or so on console. I have to force close my game ahead of time if I plan on doing anything "competitive"

When things get hectic (often during a boss fight in a vet dungeon) I crash back to the login screen. It then takes a few tries to be able to log back in. I have high lag (about 400) and always assumed it was to do with that.

So the fact that your unprotected gaming PC could well be riddled with malware that is slowing down and crashing the machine but you wouldn't know about it as you don't run any software that would both protect and warn you, doesn't concern you? Then I suggest you follow your own advice, format and reinstall the game and see if it still crashes.

Since CWC went live I'm getting way too many crashes per day even when closing a game, lots of timeout aswell. Hope ZOS will find a way to identify the problem. I was thinking about this could be add-on related too.

Prior to cwc, I would occasionally get an eternal load screen that would force me to kill the client, but hadn't actually crashed since 1.4 (outside of server crashes and ddos-caused outages).

Since cwc I crash at least once per day. It can happen in Cyrodiil, dungeons, or trials.

There have been no changes to my network, and the only change to my pc since last week is the ESO update. It's possible that the timing of my sudden connectivity issues with the cwc update is coincidental, but highly unlikely.

No idea. My trouble started when the witches festival kicked off. Big lag spikes, disconnections, random crashes. Run repairs multiple times, deleted the user settings file, etc. Nothing helped.

REALLY? Wow, that's new. You're right, it's probably the hardware component compatibility with software issue, which means it's ZOS actually. To be fair it's probably very time consuming to get all the kinks right for all kinds of diff hardware.

Do you mind sharing your hardware specs? If not maybe just the graphic card and MOBO?

I regularly install virus and malware software actually. I just choose to uninstall them if I think they get in the way of my gaming. I have tried scanning my PC with multiple reputed software but nothing clicked. I almost never browse on my gaming PC FYI.

My game doesn't "crash" - but there is exteneded lag for like even up to a minute.

It's definitely on ZOS's end because it started right after the last patch and only in very popular zones. For example, it happened in a delve right next to Daggerfall on the first day of Witches festival. That one was really bad so I just logged in on an alt. But it happened again on the same day several times at the Dolmen in Deshan close to the public Dungeon, and also a few days later around Dolmens in Alakir.

All these happened around 10 pm Eastern Time and the way I stopped it from happening was to just do my Dolmen Grinds a few hours later after the crowd thnned out.

I say it's on ZOS's end because there have been much bigger crowds before and this didn't happen before like last years festival or the release of 1T when literally everyone was grinding for new equipment.
