How do you feel when you delete a character?

In light of my thread on "How many max level characters do you have?" I was reminded about how many max level characters people have deleted, including myself. Even just any character being deleted.
How do you feel when you decide to do this, when its comes to the moment of doing it? What do you do?

I tend to get a very hollow and guilty feeling :D As I go through their inventory, making sure nothing in there is useful, depositing all things that I need, it feels like I am walking them to their execution...

So how do you feel when you do this? Do you feel similar, or perhaps it means very little to you, you just need that character slot for something better. Perhaps you are even happy to get rid of them :D Let me know your thoughts :)

I deleted few characters. Most of them were mules, with mule names, like Heavy Armor Mule or similar. About these, I did not feel anything. On the other hand, I did delete my 1st ever char when I was new to ESO. I made a mistake with atribute points and deleted it, because I did not know there was a way to respec points or skills. I am still sad about that.

Crushed. I hated deleting characters... felt like a betrayal, or an execution. I deleted 3 V16, one V12, and one V8, to make room for playing new characters... it was awful.

Now I just wait until new slots are open for purchase. And I recently created a new account to have room for more characters.

Sad. The longer they are out there, the sadder it is. Newly created characters can have a short lifespan, though.

Delete a character? What madness is this that you speak of? You can pry my characters from my cold dead keyboard.

With the ability to change everything but class there is no real reason to delete a character.

Now I did delete one back during release week because I typed the name wrong. But it only had 2 hours on it

When your alt walks naked one last time to the bank - sad.
Wish there was a way to retire an alt into a house. Archived as it were.

Guilty but refreshing, I like keeping my character count small, to characters that I still actively play. If I have too many that I don't really use it feels...overwhelming? I dunno. I guess I compare it to cleaning out my room of things I don't use, so it's more clean and compact. I'm ruthless.

Only concern is the time I waisted into them. Other than that....it’s a lifeless collection of pixels and achievements only.

Deleted a lot of characters. I was a bit sad to delete my very first char I created, but she had to go. Bye whatever your name was.

All deleted some character who all was mules and created functional ones. Not sure all will be used actively.

So far I've only deleted mules and alts for farming PvP related stuff.

I got a few projects I'm not sure if I want to keep but with maxed out horses it's hard to just throw them away.

I don't, plain and simple. I have no interest in having to re-level char/skills/abilities, re-research, re-stable'ize, re-quest new chars, after already doing much of that on 14 characters.

I never delete a character over about level 5, and only very rarely below that. I'm not a min-maxer so never have cause to delete an established character.

Some character's "hold the name" for me, but I wouldn't delete a character I have invested in... at least not now that name/race change is a thing; my character "Haskill" has been remade 5 times since pc early access, and every time he is a balding Breton. He has been a Dk, templar, DK again, then sorc and is now a max level nightblade. Soon the nightblade may get changed into an argonian but Haskill will be remade as a warden.

My best mate deletes max level characters whenever he fancies a new alt, but I just couldn't completely delete a character that I've worked on.

Currently I have 12 max level characters and I am saving my last two slots (probably until new character slots are released) because I would hate to choose the wrong class and ever be forced to delete a character to make space for a new one.

It depends. Most of my deletions are simply because I was testing different builds and themes to see what worked for me. A few are deleted because they served a particular purpose in RP, or because they served as mules while I steadily increased my bank space. These I have no particular problem removing and are all fairly low level (but weirdly I keep most of the names and a screenshot of them because... I don't know, weird reasons).

A couple of my characters are particularly well developed outside of the game (in my head; on paper in the form of stories) and these will never be deleted.

It really depends. If its a new character that I cant get into, its not that bad. But a level 50 character with a lot of history...thats just downright crappy at times.

Some I actually enjoyed, like my Redguard templar, Altmer nightblade, Breton dragonknight, and Breton nightblade. I was actually really sad to delete them. But I just never really used them.

Others are just holding a name for a later character/class or something, others are just bad ideas like my last one, Argonian sorc tank, so I feel little if anything over a bad decision.
