Polluted loot tables, drop rates of desirable items so low that more people give up than actually acquire them.

Shouldn't a "festival" be more fun and less of a reflection of one of the major flaws of the game?

I give it 7/10 branches this year...

Got everything last year luckily, so only need the v2 masks, the 2 furnishing plans, and 3 finished furniture. Farming/grinding was a huge pain, due to everything from last year PLUS the branches being added to the table

Liked the new house, and that it could be purchased with gold coins.
Had some cool luxury furniture during it's two weekends.
Didn't like the amount of branches dropped.
Didn't like that it missed a week on it's lore start date.
v2 masks were a little lazy.
    Lacked more finished furniture.

Pretty good, plenty of fun but not heavy on rewards
What I like about this event, and the mid year mayhem, is that your rewards are based on actually playing the game. Not some pointless and repetative quest like jesters fest and whatever the winter one was called.

However this year feels more like a rerun than an event. Lack of any real progression and still no change to ambiance made it feel a little cheap.

This is my first Witches Festival and it was fun for the first weekend, but after I got achievement and new masks, it became just boring. I would love to see how NPCs are celebrating this festival with pumpkins, magic tricks and all this *** happening at medieval festivals. But I must admit, I met few awesome people and have joined to my first guild, so it's good event to get social. Oh, and I like furnishings. Halloween atmosphere is what this event lacks of, even when you are in Glenumbra.

This is what the event is truely missing. Theres absolutely no change in behavior or environments. If these are big enough holidays for us to have events. Youd think it would be reflected in the game world beyond these Quest Hubs. Instead thats all we get.

Last year, the Witch's Festival was my least favorite holiday event. Really grindey and the drop rate on rewards is ridiculously high. This year was more of the same.

I think it's all about what your expectations are going in.

Mostly, I enjoyed this event this year and last year. For this year:
    • LOVED the spooky cabin, really enjoyed furnishing it, and I've never been into housing (bought another house, furnished, but never built one out from scratch)
    • Liked the addition of two masks
    • Liked the new furniture items *and* the sticks (they have a lot of possibilities, and were better than the Jester banners that were all the same... I want more actually)
    • Liked the double XP to go back and level those last few skill points on my alts (heavy armor hit 50!)
    • Liked the extra fishing bait and mats
    • Liked that most of what you could get last year returned this year. Makes me glad to know that if I have to miss a holiday that I can check it out the following year.

I do wish there was a unique title (or color... like that orange color!!) to unlock for this year. I am of the opinion that the holiday events should be supplemental, but not the be-all, end-all of everything you do while they are live. I more use them as a reason to veer towards particular activities when I'm on. I would have loved another motif set to get, more furniture or patterns, etc., because Halloween is my favorite... but I don't think it makes sense, overall, for the holidays to have so much new content that it is difficult to get the old drops in the next year.

    Anyway, was fun!
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

This was my first Witches Festival Event. I didn't mind it. Loved that I had double XP points which gave me the motivation to create a new character and level him up.

However, the branches were quite annoying.

In my opinion, this year’s witches festival mainly suffers from the unrealistically low RNG that seems to be Zenimax ‘ standard policy nowadays. It completely squeezes the last bit of fun out of the game, especially for those who already participated last year. Playing ESO feels more and more like assembly line work.

    + New and semi-new items
    + New housing

o Being similar to last year’s event is okay. I understand that it would cost too much to come up with something completely new each year.

    - Horrible RNG
    - Bad timing (Clockwork City, several times maintenance)
    - 3 minute timer
    - Most festival related items can only be found in the crown store
    - No decoration in the cities. Last year, they were at least full of skeletons, due to the fact that you needed to drink from the cauldron to get the XP buff. This year, it doesn’t feel like a seasonal event at all.

Countless hours of boring grind during a festival is no fun and when a game is no fun anymore, people stop playing it.

For luck I just needed the 2 new masks (just for the sake of having them, I would never wear such ugly stuff) and the recipes, the style motif and the achievements with my new warden. With all other chars I already finished the grind last year.

Actually I was pretty happy that there were no new achievements ("loot 1000 plunder skulls"...) and I was finished early and could spent my time with more important things (pledges, transmutation, Clockwork City, Asylum raids etc.).

The "loot 1000 plunder skulls" is actually meant half-serious. When a company like Zenimax finds it a clever idea to bring up a daily quest where you need to collect 5 ornate armor items, then you aren't that far away from the "looting-1000-plunder-skull-thing".

For me, all the dressing up is by far the best part of this festival. This is my Reaper Clown:

    45IryXq.png

I love seeing all the creativity that other players put into their costumes and home decorations.

I guess the festival is like most things in this game; the more effort you put into it the more fun you will get out of it.
