Hey.I have a little issue.I guess maybe its been talked before but im looking for a decent tank race/class.My friend and i are thinking of making a 4 man squad.Healer.-2 dd-s and me as a tank. But im still a bit newbie-so maybe a tank that would be like a brick wall and no hard skill rotations needed.

Any Class can be a Tank, but a Dragon Knight tends to have more of the tools a tank will use

As for Race, mine is an Imperial, but you can make just about any race a good tank.

Now, to learn about Tanking in this game, see the following website, read some of the guides and view some of the videos

    https://woeler.eu/

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The easiest tank afaik is not stamina DK but magicka Sorcerer. It's also the way in which you don't just copy-paste majority build but create some fun build.
Recommended is a Breton or Altmer, 2 full heavy sturdy traited purple quality sets Green Pact + Plague Doctor, single monster Mighty Chudan part. Gold quality frost staves on both bars, both infused with gold enchantment giving damage shield. So with each heavy Staff attack (obviously no cost) you get strong damage shield from destro Staff passive plus each few seconds another damage shield from enchantment. The more hp you have and cp in correct points the higher stats of dmg shields, so no need to use extra damage shield from abilites. Just Bone Shield from Undaunted from time to time, which is armor type's irrelevant and shields allies in group should they use the synergy (if they don't it's their fault).
With this build you don't need to use abilites other than Bone shield on stamina and Boundless Storm for Resistance and/or (whenever needed, if healer is down, absent) - Unstable Clannfear, which is a must on both your bars as well as Bound Aegis switched on.
And you just spam no-cost heavy attack to taunt and proc double shields (on my tank these are ~5k + 5k so alternately I have ~10k and 5k shield every few seconds).
With Unstable Clannfear and a lot of HP you can heal yourself and your pet instantly. My tank with 57k hp heals for amazing 20k/sec. You just need to keep your pet alive. Considering it has ~20k hp you can bring it from almost dead to full hp in a sec. Enjoy digging in your Champion Points for best stats and fun :).
And btw this one is a sorc stage 4-th vampire tank ;)

    Imperial Warden .

I am playing a DK tank for over 2 years now and playing a Warden tank for about 2 weeks . I can easily say Warden is better and will be even better next patch . I converted my DK tank for PvP and tanking with my Warden in PvE now .

    Pros :

    - Better self sustain ( Netch + Nature's Gift passive much superior to Battle Roar and Helping Hands . Whatever fight I threw myself into with my Warden , it performed better in terms of sustain compared to DK )
    - Better group support ( AOE Major Resist buffs with Ice Fortress , AOE Major Fracture and Major Breach with Subterranean Assault , Minor Endurance and Minor Intellect with Enchanted Growth , 100% uptime on Minor Toughness with Maturation passive )
    - Better healing ( Minor Lifesteal with Leeching Vines , a lot of other healing spells for allies , only class that can have Major Mending with Accelerated Growth passive )
    - Better chaining next patch ( imagine chains but with more range , applies Major Maim and can be set as a trap ((3 at the same time next patch)) even before enemies show up )
    - Better ultimate regeneration (cast Netch every 8 seconds for Savage Beast passive and Shimmering Shield )

    Cons :

    - Less tanky ( DK has block mitigation , Resistance bonuses , Healing Taken )
    - No burst resource gain ( DK has Battle Roar and Helping Hands for burst resource gain while Warden gains resources over time . Harder to get your resources up if you run dry as a Warden , which never happens but still ... )
    - No shielding ( DK saves people from 1-shots which is mostly what your groupmates will die to by using Igneous Shield )

The reason I recommend Imperial is , your sustain is so good with Warden , you don't need the Argonian passive . Always go for the highest stat race which is Imperial .

Even though I say many good stuff about Warden , I don't mean DK is a bad tank choice . I completed every content with my DK . DK is definitely the go-to class choice but I just prefer Warden even after playing DK for 2 years :)

I think DK is the best class, but I really enjoy my Orc Templar tank. Works great in all 4man vet content, including DLC.

you can probs tank a lot of content.

the real question is how well can you tank vet trials, particularly vhof.

to op, argonian is probs the best race to tank with dk or warden

TBH I have no idea about trials, I stopped playing trials long ago due to boredom and lack of heroic rewards while wasting a lot of time inside. Maybe someone will check it some day instead :).

    Khajiit.

If only because you have no racial passives that really help tanking (except health recovery... which is garbage) and need to learn how to tank without any crutches whatsoever.

    But seriously, probably Argonian Dragonknight.

That depends entirely how you build your tank.

I've seen plenty of fantastic off-balance DK builds top over 15k in heavy armor while keeping taunt (they never need healing). Heck, my DoT PvP build can tank most 4-man content and break 15k while tanking. Vigor is good for stamDK tanks and heals the group decently (especially with igneous), and magDK tanks can backbar resto if they please.

Warden is good, but I'd hold off on calling Warden better. They are roughly equal.

All depends on the tank you wanna build. Until you get the hang of it I agree with others above; Imperial or Argonian DK or Warden.

While I agree about Sorcs making fantastic tanks, I'd still list them as somewhat more advanced than a DK build.

If you wanted a "my first tank," in ESO, I'd suggest an Imperial DK, or, failing that an Argonian or Nord DK.

If you're happy messing around with some more complex mechanics, I'd absolutely recommend looking at sorcs. Though, I'd lean more towards stamina than magicka sorcs, at least for introductory content. You can always switch across to magicka when you're more familiar with the game and have the gold to respec.

I never enjoyed tanking until I started tanking on my warden. I'm primary heals on my templar, and you are right - you get some of both with warden, and good heals - definitely in clutch times when the healer can't get to you - or even saving someone else since the warden ult you can position it around.
