Are you generally happy with the current state of ESO?

This of course includes the states of server, community, prices, nerfs, buffs, generally everything you could think of!
If you can, please explain your answer.

Im sure a poll like this would help the developers of the game to know which features to aim and what would work best for the community through your opinion and comments. Let's conclude on what we all agree on in terms of the current situation of the game.

I do enjoy playing it but I get really frustrated at the little bugs, game crashing in cyrodiil, game crashing in Vivec, activity finder not working, sitting and waiting for 20-30 seconds for NPCs/crafting stations to load, lag in dungeons and trials (this got exceptionally worse with HOTR patch), UI errors when i try to open my inventory, the list goes on and on. However I still enjoy playing the game so i guess I have to say mixed.

Its not all bad and due to having the PC experience and Xbox One experience it definitely depends upon the platform.

Consider on PC you can play, play with add-ons, and use PTS and give feedback and play with builds, etc.
You can use Steam or just go directly to ZOS.

Xbox One offers, in my opinion better voice options consistently and the gamepad UI works well with the console OS in most cases. There are a number of issues ZOS hasn't resolved but....that's their issue at this point not ours.

Both have positive and negative impacts on crown store, QoL updates or lack thereof, ESO Plus concerns and benefits as well as the popular bugs and trouble shooting monthly occurrences.

Overall, I'd say this game begin for me on both platforms as a 9/10 in each of their first years.
on PC it still retains a 7/10
on xbox one I unfortunately would give it a 4/10 today

The ongoing issues matched with unresolved issues and developer annual decision changes with and without paywalls and with or without going back of what some conceive as confirmation somethings being done and later finding out....not so much

I'm lurking for November to see whats what.....but that's my point of view

    PC NA.

Cyrodiil is fun, if not a big learning curve.

Overland is getting better and better written. Long forgotten are the days if "LOOK OVER THARE, IT'S MUR-EEEEEEL."

Dungeons being added nearly quarterly, great change of pace.

Game breaking bugs usually addressed with good pace. Usually.

    Room to improve:

Bot trains, sometimes it's like a running joke. A simple "there was one here once, maybe have a GM here once a day for an hour or twice a day for fifteen minutes" would solve a lot of botting issues.

Rating: 85-90. Digging this game, just got sucked into divinity the last few days.

    Mixed for me.

    Pros:
    • Visuals are good.
    • Some of the base game content is interesting. Housing was a nice addition.
    • Guild trader system is unique

    Cons:
    • New content slow to arrive, often small and can be completed in a day. Anything with a new zone is about every 6 months.
    • Furniture cap is strangling the potential of housing
    • Too much limited-time-only Crown store items. Easy to miss or bad timing
    • Double-paywall for Crown-exclusive furniture. First you have to buy the DLC/Chapter and then pay crowns for furniture from that DLC. Big negative for me since paying for DLC should unlock all the content, furniture especially because the furniture models are already created for the DLC content
    • Nerfs or significant changes without any warning. For an example, see Mother's Sorrow set nerf vs what was originally promised

I like questing and exploring but my main is finished with that and redoing them on a alt stops being interesting quite fast. So I'm waiting for new content. This is of course not really a fault of ESO but more of MMOs in general. Devs can't keep up with content demand. I accept that so currently on a bit of a break from ESO.

Addendum: I really, really loath the heavy influence RNG has on rewarding actions in this game. Depending on how that trait change thingie works out I may just quit altogether. My time is too precious to do repetitive tasks over and over and over again.

I love the game and most of what is going on with it. My only issues are the whole crown shop model. After the Linchal Manor being $100 I feel like they are getting really greedy with their cash grab system. I think one of two things need to happen, 1. decrease cost of crowns, or 2. decrease crown cost of items. That's my only complaint really I mean there are some smaller complaints but nothing I feel like typing or concerns me greatly.

    - Cheating in Cyro due Miatt's addon and private addons.
    - Lag in trials even with an up to date new computer.
    - Stuttering in some rounds at Vma.
    - Crown store items wich are not obtainable in game by playing the game.
    - The constant nerfs.

best mmorpg on the market. no other competitors in its genre.

I truly believe that and have since launch.

lag is an issue. could be my addons. could be my HDD (as opposed to having an SSD). Could be my processor (i have a 3rd gen Intel 3570K 3.4GHZ)

but as you can see its not all on ZOS. gameplay, lore, story, character customization etc its all perfect.

not too happy with the limited time offerings of the crown store but i dont mind the crown store exclusive items. wish there were more incentives in pvp. but its still fun and it keeps me logging in.

My current state of the game is BAD.
Not really. If the last few friends I log in to play with quit playing, I probably wouldn't stick around. It's not end of the world bad or anything, but a lot of issues that bug me aren't being fixed or are getting worse.

The crown store keeps getting worse and worse with their methods (yes, a company should make money, and they do, but I don't want to feel like I'm being held upside down and shaken for every nickel in my pockets). And yes, it's cosmetic - MOSTLY - but if you enjoy cosmetics in a game, then that doesn't mean it's still not being handled in a rather cheap way by them with the overpriced homes, the large amount of limited time offers and the gambling crates (which at this point their just needs to be a law against video game gambling with all the companies starting to go that way - also think there should be a law against selling fake currency to buy stuff in games with). But it would be nice to see a company actually show they can make money without abusing systems like that.

Game balance. I don't think they know how to balance the game or they don't want to. We used to think it was b/c they didn't play their own game and they've shown they do. But if you've watched them enough or played against them in pvp, you can see the reasons they can't figure out balance. They truly do not understand min/maxing and then they get advice from so many sources - even "respected" streamers offer advice that is some good and some bad - how do you know which is which? You just have to play all parts of the game enough and be able to see what people are talking about in complaints or be able to see through the complaints based on a player frankly, not being very good. I thought for half a second, with the knock down removed from frags they were making a smart change. If you know the game well enough, you know that's a good change for balance despite any amount of sorc complaining. And the heavy attack meta has made pve even more boring that it already was. The amount of changes they keep trying to make against tanky builds in pvp makes tanking less fun in really challenging content (though some of that is also from feeling like a design team doesn't communicate with skill changes team as one designs content for the way the game is and the other is always currently changing the way the game is so they don't quite match up.)

PvP. Laggy zergy mess? Endless loading screen? Out of balance gameplay super obvious? BG's implemented poorly? Yes to all. It's not about pvp truly, it's about AP farming. Even full 24 groups half the time don't even want to fight and just want to farm stupid stuff by pvdooring keeps or flipping resources and when most groups do want to fight its mostly when they can kill with trample damage (by greatly outnumbering enemy so they can literally light attack opposition to death). Even when Vivec was a laggy mess last night, we tried Shor and it was pretty much dead (during primetime) and both sides we fought there had groups our size or bigger (we had 4 people) and both whispered us saying they didn't want to fight us or asking us to flip emp for them so they could flip emp later. Not exactly the best experience and BGs are boring so we just logged for the night after trying to deal with lag in vicec one more time. Frankly, the skill gap in pvp is because the game is designed badly, which makes people not realize how good or bad they might be sometimes and makes 99% of the feedback worthless from any player that falls into that category because their complaints aren't based on what the game can or can't do, but on what they can or can't do.

Frankly, zos should just bite the bullet. Make 3 campaigns + Imperial City and start including IC in the base game. Allow people to port straight to IC if they want and don't include them in population. The 3 campaigns should be divided into the three sections of cyrodiil based on the alliances (the AD, DC and EP sections of the map - just sections, I wouldn't necessarily make them controlled by that alliance), Get rid of emp, create something like a warlord for each territory and have that be some sort of substitute. You could create one or two major castles in each zone and have the other old castles being ruins now (could even fill them with deadra, imperials or some other objective). You could also create slightly different rules and/or goals for each zone. Let people home in one, but freely guest to any others. It would make the map smaller, taking out some of the horse simulator and concentrated the already shrunken population into a third of the area it's in now (i.e. make it feel more populated without raising the pop caps). Knock group size down to 12. Scale AP based on amount of players on objective (so a 12 man group taking an unguarded resource would essentially get nothing except the built in tactical advantage of owning a resource/objective). You would earn most of your AP by actually fighting other players (the "P" in pvp). Get rid of AoE caps. I would fundamentally change how siege works, making it more effective to use as it's intended against keeps more than players and have it take longer to set up). Take a look at the overabundance of snares in the game. Add more small scale objectives (caravans to raid, the gates and bridges everyone fights at already, etc - but these only stay small scale if you scale AP, otherwise its just another zerg farming goal.) and other changes they won't bother with I guess.

BGs is just meh. Get rid of the 3 way fight. It works for cyrodiil (almost) but not for that type of content. Should be one group vs one group. Sure, have a random version that is always 4v4 and rotate through types for people to solo into (could even make it not queue-able by a full group) but then allow people to set up custom matches. 2v2, 4v4 or 6v6 and pick the type of game they want to run in. I mean, we've watched COD/Halo type games do it for years successfully, it's not a secret formula. And BG's should be part of the base game, it shouldn't have ever been behind an expansion paywall.

I honestly don't think they will put a lot of work into something already in the game other than just tweaking balance between classes or changing rulesets in PvP. Their devs are going to be working on content they can sell, not fixing content already out to us for free.

    I would say good but....

Mud balls, why in the name of sanity can’t we opt out of those things the same way as duelling?

I like many people have intense social anxiety, a condition where the primitive part of the brain overrides the conciouse part and causes us extreme psychological reactions to seemingly minor events. I avoid pvp because if I die there the anxiety reacts as if I am litteraly going to die, being hit by mud balls elicits a flicker of the same enraged/terrified response which can quickly become intolerable. And no, willpower and tablets don’t work, at least not for me, this beast can be managed but it cannot be eliminated.

Murder of npcs is really starting to get to me...

Why can’t it be instanced to the player in the same way as crafting bags. For example if you are in your inventory you see your charecter standing and looking at you but other players see your charecter rummaging in a bag. I find doing writs very relaxing but now there always seems to be the sound of some poor soul drowning in their own blood. With all the horrible things on the news do we really need it in eso as well? If you instance it those who want to do it can still participate but those of us that don’t can have the streets busy with npcs like they used to be

I like the game a lot, I've never played a game so much before. But... except for vHoF there isn't much to do. You can work on your build and dps and maybe grind vMA or material, but other than that... I mainly just log in to do writs and raids.
You can try to do achievements, but it's hard to find people for group achievments. PvP is not playable a lot of times, at least for me.

I would love to see some other challenges... to be able to find really rare pets or mounts (like in other MMO's) or to get them for completing something, not just titles. More 'real' events, where are actually some challenging things to do.

Overall I like the game, but I think there is so much more potential.

I'm glad ESO is still going, I like my guild mates and the games build craft and mechanics. I only PvP and the Cyrodiil map has become very boring, Battlegrounds were a failure. Had a few months off this year to play other PvP games and just do other things. I'll keep coming back as long as my guild mates do but I'll definitely be switching full time to a title coming out in the next 1-2 years and I suspect half the guild will too.

A big PvP overhaul is required imo. My spare time is precious and there's too many nights where performance issues and zerging just ruin my experience of this game. I can't even play on school nights because queuing takes half an hour and infinite load screens, which can happen any time, put you to the back of the queue again.

There's no money to be made from PvP I get it. What's the sub for then? Make Cyrodiil sub only, after an overhaul ofc. Bloody hell, make it whatever cost I don't care just make it good! Do something Zenimax about PvP!

I accept the reality that it is an MMO and I avoid playing all year round. I really don't want to play daily anyway. One month a year feels better. I'll be happier returning when next chapter drops and I'll play Clockwork City in the same month with a sub.

I'll also hop in for events, but minimally -- just to do event stuff.
