It costs 40 transmute crystals? I really hope these aren't rare drops.
Before I attempt to watch this at work, did you determine if they always drop from pledges, if they drop from just running a vet dungeon not via random group finder or a pledge? How many stones does a geode break into?

While I'm not sure if pledges always drop them, Gina mentioned that, in a future PTS, random vet dungeons will always drop a transmutation geode (which I guess will contain some number of crystals).

@Nyghthowler
Recently it was announced that cosmetic changes are planned for a future update.
My question is does this consume a trait token in addition to the crystal? To be blunt do i need nirncruxv in inventory to transmute to nirnhoned?

@STEVIL It does not consume trait stones to transmute.
The transmutation also does not change the underlying item trait. Instead, it overrides the innate trait with a new one. This means that a transmuted item cannot be researched, and I expect that a deconned transmuted item will not yield trait stones of the overriding trait (though verification is needed).
On the technical side, ESO's itemization system gives every item/trait combination a separate item ID. For example:
- 71155: vMA fire staff, defending
- 71156: vMA fire staff, sharp
- 71162: vMA ice staff, sharp
So instead of all vMA fire staves sharing one ID and having the trait be a separate field, every possible trait for a vMA fire staff is its own separate ID.
When you transmute a defending fire staff into a sharp fire staff, this ID does not change. So instead of converting your item from a specimen of 71155 into a specimen of 71156, your item remains a specimen of 71155, but with an overriding trait applied that suppresses the original innate trait.
So if someone links a transmuted sharp item, you can look at its item ID and determine what the original innate trait of the item was (and still is).
It means that I can tell the difference between a "real" divines Skoria vs. a "doctored" divines Skoria, and for someone with a touch of OCD like me, that's rather irksome. I would've preferred a system where the item was truly changed, rather than dressed in a new trait costume.

So what I'm reading is that if you mainly solo, "&(^% you"
This surprised me, i always assumed traits was an field of gear not an new id.My question is does this consume a trait token in addition to the crystal? To be blunt do i need nirncruxv in inventory to transmute to nirnhoned?
