"We Hate You Nightblades" - Season 3 Episode 1

Another set of patch notes, another downgrade to nightblades and in particular magicka nightblades.

No sign of improvement for this class to be a decent enough healer, the sap tank died a long time ago and now just more stupid decisions that affect the class.

In case you dont know:

Shadow

  • Manifestation of Terror (Aspect of Terror morph): This morph now fears up to 6 enemies per trap, up from 2, and the trap no longer triggers if a crowd control-immune enemy walks over it. Enemies can also now see an initial projectile marking the trap’s location.
  • Mass Hysteria (Aspect of Terror morph): This morph no longer fears an additional enemy, but only fears the same amount of enemies as the base ability (2 enemies). It continues to inflict Minor Maim as a morph effect.

Siphoning

Agony: This ability and its morphs is now an ally-targeted spell that heals them over time and damages you for 50% of the amount healed. We also renamed this ability to Malevolent Offering.
  • Malefic Wreath (Agony morph): This morph now grants Minor Mending when it deals damage to you, and has been renamed to Healthy Offering.
  • Prolonged Suffering (Agony morph): This morph now decreases the amount of self-inflicted damage dealt to you to 35% of the amount healed, and has been renamed to Shrewd Offering.

^^^ WTF IS THAT???? The skill was pretty much useless before but now you can KILL YOURSELF FROM IT??

I dont know what anyone thinks of this but the 1 chance to improve magblades with a better Agony skill just got thrown to trash and the hysteria nerf is just as ***-ing stupid.

Tip to ZOS: Have at least ONE of your developers and testers actually play a mag blade and be good at it.

The speed of the crippling crasp projectile is still ridiculously slow, the 100 magicka returned per light attack from siphoning strikes is pathetic, shades is still broken, sap essence still costs way too much and the list goes on. Of course I cant ask for all these changes but to NERF the class is just so stupid.

Magblades in PvP, especially as DW, already have a hard time as is. This just makes it worse.

The change to fear.... It's just another low blow to the DW magblade playstyle. Was hard enough to play it as it is - now one of our main tools of shaking opponents is not as effective anymore, making things even more difficult

This change though is fantastic. Can't wait to try it. Love in on live.

I'm not that terrified of changes, but Mass Histeria was fine without nerf. Could we have at least one meaningful buff for Nightblades to finally be good at PvP not only with one shot ganker build?

All the changes lately and nerfs to NB or general changes that affect NB far more (stealth dmg, undodgeable, etc)... it's so easy for everyone to kill you on a NB. They didn't want you to feel left out so you can kill you along with everyone else killing you!! See - it's balanced now!!

    Tip:
In order to buff NB you need to pretend (on forums) that you are a sorcerer and NB are too easy to kill.
Maybe then ZOS will listen.... :/

I just lost all hope... seems like it is some sort of tradition (like duck - hunt) to nerf NB every single patch....
And yes - I don't believe that someone complained about NB being to strong in PvE. Mass Hysteria (the skill that is useless in PvE) - but strong in PvP is getting nerfed. The one of three actually useful NB PvP skills is getting nefed.... why ? ?! :'(

In general, I like the changes coming next Update. The Nightblade changes, however, made me wonder if I had time travelled to April 1st.

Zenimax should know their nerfs are buffing zergs and destroying solo + smallscale playstyle in cyrodiil. I think they don't really care or they are happy of the current state of pvp.
The game mechanics and their counters has been heavily simplified already, and we have even more undodgeables skills and no counters added in patchnote of update 16 today. Ï dont understand the logic behind that.

The Agony change is awesome. This will help me keep sorcs alive so they can do more damage.

Thank you. I will now queue up as a healer.

In what vet dungeon would Malevolent Offering ever be useful?

Either the dungeon is easy and my normal hots + Ward are sufficient healing. Or the dungeon is hard and I, as the healer, need to stay the f*ck alive so casting an ability that hurts me and heals somebody else would seem dumb.

It would be a useful skill IF the tank was the only player getting hurt and I needed to keep him alive.

I swear ESO group content must be designed by one team and the items/skills designed by another. And they don't talk to each other. In the harder group content all players need to put some work into keeping themselves alive (besides just keeping out of the red), unlike many MMOs where its only the tank that gets hurt a lot. But the items and skills are often designed around the tank being the only one getting hurt and therefore healed.

Let's change Talons to 2 enemies and see how people feel.

Or perhaps only 2 allies of a Templar can activate Ritual.

This is the most baffling skill I have ever seen the developers create. And that says a lot. Why would a magblade, wearing at least 5 pieces of light armor use a HOT that damages themselves for 50% of the amount healed? Why not just equip a resto staff and not damage themselves at all?
This skill would be questionable even for a tanky class. And magblades definitely aren't tanks.

Op this is a exaggeration. For 1 nobody uses agony unless you are use the unblockable meteor combo other than that its the worst CC

Nightblades are not meant to 1vx if you look at all passives skills etc its all about being sneaky and bursting and getting out. Stam nb in particular

Mag blades just happen to he the choice for bomb builds because it has few good skills that cater to it.

These nerfs wont have much impact. Plus this makes WEREWOLF fear better which it should have been in first place.

Then leatn how to use the skill when you should?

As it is now looks like an interesting, and potentially strong skill, as opposed to the almost never used one that we had before. Fail to see the point of complains, even more so when it's evident you haven't even downloaded the pts.
