what is the most nerfed class since launch?

I'm not going to include warden in this one because A: it just recently came out, and B: it has not really been nerfed or buffed since then.

also the order I put the classes in the poll is based on poll colors ^_^ but DK and NB could not both have red so it went to DK as purple seemed to suit NB more then DK :P

but what do you feel is the most nerfed class over the games lifespan? and how closely (or not) do the class(s) match their launch counterparts?

The horrible nerf to Surge by giving it a cooldown crippled Sorcs' ability to heal while fighting. The entire shield stacking meta that everyone hates can be traced back to this nerf. The nerf to Bolt Escape was just as bad, if not worse. The EXPONENTIALLY increasing cost of Bolt Escape is considered by many to be the worst nerf in the history of MMOs.

I don't know... I mean I want to say Nightblade but they were garbage on launch, then went up there as OMGWTFPWN then got bought back down again.

I mean you could technically go back and look at every patch note release and look for who has the most negative balance changes overall, but most of the balance has been warranted for classes.

Pretty simple DK at launch was easy mode with in built I win button. No other class was like that and DK has had nerfs so DK.

If the question was which class has had the most significant changes then Temp because the skill changes have made it a very different class to play.

If the question was which class has had the most ongoing problems with skills not working as intended then tough one between Temp and NB but I would probably go NB.

    TLDR Nerf Sorcs :p

I think this goes without saying

But for good reason way to OP pvp and pve at the start.

They went way over board to the point they had to buff us but at the same time we still get nerfs almost every patch even when they buff us. "This is a buff" crap

Well, before 1.6 NB were bit trashy to say at least. Then they got buffed and band wagoners hopped in.

After 1.6, it's been more or less constant downhill for Nightblades.

DK's and templars have had their share of nerfhammer too, but tbh, gods were next to DK's before 1.6.
    NB enthusiastic:
    1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
    2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
    3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

    Go dominion or go home

NB is the most buffed class. People probably forgot how bad it was first year and a half. People couldn't level up past veteran rank 5, because they couldn't kill mobs with their garbageblades.

    DKs on the other hand...

I had to vote DK because of the sheer ult spam and invulnerability back in the day.

    crits generated ult

ults on DK restored all resources (way more back in the day)

combine with bat swarm or standard, sheesh

there were DK's that simply didn't slot any offensive spells (except maybe talons) because they could keep ult up 24/7.
some people still instinctively run from batswarm because of those days.

those old fashion stat numbers though :P

and yes the vamp ult did cost 35 in that vid

    I have to say: Templar.
No other class had skills removed and replaced (Blinding Flashes anyone?) or "reworked" in such a way they actually serve different purpose (if any)
On top of skills nerfs, their passives have also suffered the biggest nerfs of all classes: they were the most impacted by the Major/Minor system, as some of their key passives became a part of that system , unlike any other of the original classes.

Sure DK seemed OP at launch, mostly due to the exploit of some bugs (I mean: 35 Ult cost for Batswarm was never intended, I personally never had that cost on any of my vamps) and the way Ult Gen was reworked impacted DK the most, but that doesn't count as a class specific nerf (it was a change on how the game works, for every class).

Sorcerer suffered the most infamous nerf of all, with the increase of Bolt Escape cost (who thought of that?).

DK is the most "tweaked" class: they review the numbers each patch, but no huge structural nerf to the class playstyle (except maybe chains don't pull people out of keep walls anymore).

NB was buffed in such a way that some nerfs were then required, so I'm not sure that counts  .

    My class

    Pretty much that.

Hint: the following statements are done based on my own research of what happened throughout the game, since I started later on.

I would have said DK, but they had godmode status at launch, so it took quite a bit of nerfing (in part necessary), while NB was pretty much "just kick them from the group no matter what", so technically they had more buffs than nerfs.

Unsure about sorc status and overall powerlevel at launch so no comment (even if I'm aware that the "0 ult batswarm was a thing at some point").

Templar, from what I've seen, has been (mostly?) nerfed slowly over the ages, with very few buffs inbetween. They didn't quite have the power of DKs, so ultimately they haven't been nerfed as much, but I'd be lying if I were to say that templars are good in open world today. They merely just started with less power than DKs.

    ----

    That said...

We're merely comparing the state of different classes between launch and now, but ultimately, only how well classes perform now matters. I'm not much into the "I got nerfed / used to suck before so I deserve to be buffed regardless of current balance" mindset.

Definitely NB.... I guess due to PvP complaints... Currently NB is only a "shadow" of what it used to be (no pun intended ;) )

I remember the times when NB had "Purge" (negative effects removal) build in one of the "Shadow Cloak" morphs... it was so useful..
I also remember time when "Siphoning Strikes" was a toggle and was extremely useful for tanking...

NB was nerfed to the point when ZOS had to nerf global mechanics (that NB benefits the most)....
It takes longer to go to stealth and 25% base stealth dmg bonus was removed (as always - due to PvP complaints)....
NB were forced to use proc-sets in order to have any sort of effectiveness... but guess what ? the proc-sets were nerfed too... (I am not saying it is bad, some proc-sets were too strong, but there was no buffs in the slightest to compensate that).

They nerfed surge, they nerfed shields, they nerfed streak, they nerfed ultimate which was a not so secret nerf to overload. Then they put out necro which made sorcs OP again. How did they fix that mistake? They nerfed crystal frag. Then next patch nerfed necro.

Changing a class? How many pets did you see before one tam and how many are there now? A change no body wanted btw.

Imho it's wrong to allocate nerfs and their effects to a class. Assigning them to a build (stamina/magicka) / role and PvE or PvP would be much more precise, because those are actually subclasses which differ a lot in playstyle.

All got the stick here and there. NB maybe the most, but it's a bit better now since last patch.

The sustain nerfs hit all hard, maybe magicka more than stamina.

My special addition: Magicka PvE Warden DD. It needs no nerf. It came into existence as a total nerf.
Sometimes the prey turns and nips us... it's a small thing.

So let the snow flakes and unicorns dance alone until they melt or vanish from existence, we will finish up with those smart enough to stay in the glowing circle of love.
