Race Change Token Does Not Let You Change To Any Race?

Khaeon

I just purchased a Race Change Token.

I wanted to change my race for Dark Elf to Wood Elf.

I am unable to use the Race Change Token as it will only let me change my race within my faction. It clearly does not say this when purchasing the token as you can see in the picture. If it had I would not have bought it.

I want my 3000 crowns back. This is not the item I wanted as it does not do what it is advertised as.

Unfortunately, if you do not have the "any race, any faction" from the original game pre-order, you are limited to race change in your current alliance only. I believe you can also get this from the "Adventurer pack" in the crown store.

Again it clearly did not state this. I am not purchasing more tokens to correct their mistake. This should be refunded no questions asked.

Yeah you're one step behind what you need to be at to be able to change your faction's race limits. Buy that other pack and you'll be able to fully use that token.

It did exactly what it described. No where does it state you can change to any race either. It simply says, you can change your race on one character, which you can.

Simple common sense would tell you, you can't change factions, so if you don't have any race, any alliance, you will be limited.

Just contact support. They will refund you.

You need to buy the Adventurer Pack for an additional 1900 crowns in order to switch to any race.

Common sense huh? So what you're saying is not to believe what they tell you/advertise which would be common sense? Going off of what they advertise does not mean someone does not have common sense.

If we're going to argue about the wording, then that token allowed you to change your race and appearance as stated. It didn't allow you to change your race to any race, but it did not say that did it.

It did EXACTLY what it says it would do. You can change your race. YOU are the one that added the idea that it could be to any race; that is not listed there.

Own your mistakes, learn from them and move on.

And yes, I do believe it is common sense to understand that:
    1. You aren't allowed to use any race in any alliance unless you pay for that.
    2. That because of 1, you will be limited to only changing your race to one in your alliance.

The thing is that token will allow you to change to any race...which is what it'll do for the OP if he just goes and buys that any race any alliance upgrade thingy the rest of us bought to be able to do that trick, instead of wasting time here on the forum arguing with us.

Seeing as how the race change token costs more than the any-race-in-any-alliance upgrade, it would've been a good customer experience move for ZOS to have the token bypass that restriction for that one character. If race change was super-cheap compared to the any-race upgrade, then you would have people loopholing it by creating a character and then race-changing. But with it costing as much as it does, that's a non-issue and it just seems unnecessarily restrictive.

Put that on the list for "QoL suggestions that will never get implemented", along with the rest of everything.

I made the mistake of buying one of these without realizing this as well, it really should say you can't change to any race when buying the things in the crown store. I contacted support and they were nice enough to refund it. I didn't have enough crowns for both the tokens and the "any race any alliance" thing.

It really should say "change race within alliance." Don't know why anyone's defending blatantly poor wording. People that are relatively new may forget entirely that the races are locked by alliance or assume that this does indeed make an exception. I mean it's pretty damn expensive for it not to come with such a small one-time benefit.

They are refunding my crowns as we speak. So this Adventurer pack with the "Any Alliance Upgrade" The advertisement for it is "Play in the Alliance of your choice, no matter your race" Which means I can be a Dark Elf and Play for AD.......Yeah common sense with the Race Change Token lmao. What a stupid set up.

So I have to purchase both of these to get what it is I am looking for. Use the Play in the Alliance of your choice, no matter your race so I am AD then when I use the Race Change Token is automatically assumes I have to use the AD races to change to?

Note that you cannot change alliance. But with the any race unlock you can create new characters with any race and use a race change to change to any race. Except not sure if that unlocks Imperial.

Thanks for the heads up, OP. Hope you get your crowns back. I was thinking of buying a race change and also assumed it would work for any race.

To the white knights defending ZOS on this, the item should say -in your faction unless you own the adventurer pack- No, ifs, ands, buts possible. The end. No excuse for the item description not including that. Keep rationalizing though, it's fun to read.

Stop winding up OP to those who have.

The description is highly misleading by the lack of information it gives.

It is well within the realms of possibility that this misunderstanding of product could be made.

He was no such thing. This forum is just like all other game forums, apparently, with every friend of a friend of a facebook friend of anyone who works for the company leaping to the defense of the company. Transparent white knights always funny. I had edited the post to avoid the likes of you, but apparently wasn't fast enough.

The description -is- poorly worded, and good for OP that CS refunded his crowns.

The "likes of you" just ends up fueling the fire instead of putting it out, you only came here to rekindle the OP's anger.

I was never getting hysterical lmao. Funny how someone can think they sense the tone of someone through text. Plain and simple I am right. Plain and simple they needed to refund my crowns as their advertising is misleading. There was only one troll in this post and neither of you were it.

Thanks to all of the replies, you both helped out a lot for me understanding ZOS error and how this actually works.

It's not common sense at all (especially to new players or players who don't frequent the forums/subreddit). It clearly says you can change your race. Whether or not that includes any race should absolutely be in the wording, as otherwise it's open to customer interpretation.

This game does a terrible job of explaining things to people, whether it be mechanics or crown store details.
