Some players like to only play one character

Hi,

I see a lot of people in topics like "Class Change Token" and "Faction Change Token" saying that we should only play another character for that.
I understand that lot of players like to play 4 + characters at the same time, one character for crafting, one character for PVE, etc.

The thing people don't seem to understand is that there is another category of players who only play one character. Why only one? I don't know all the reasons, but personally, I play only one, because I follow this character like if it was me in an alternate univers or like in a movie. I also use this character in PVE, PVP, Crafting, etc. I like to just focus on one task, do everything in an area and move on to something else with the same character. I don't want to switch over and over again between multiple useless character. That's not how I play... In Skyrim I only have one character and in other MMORPG as well.

So please understand why some people want a simple class/faction change token. If you don't want to use this token don't use it. Simple as that.
Also, even in real life you can change class (job) and faction (politic or army), so why not in-game?

Thank you

With my "One Character per Class" method of playing I have a bit more leeway in this. But I do understand the OP. I used to play a long time with just a single character before making another one. There are people who attach themselves to those they create. Our characters aren't just DPS numbers with a pair of legs.

I like to play a few different characters but I can understand the pull of just one as well. Really improving the class performance to a fine art, and getting the muscle memory perfected so you can play the class in your sleep at peak performance.

Isn't that weird from rp point if view though? Like, you're following that one character like it was you...and then BAM suddenly "you" change looks, gender, homeland and transform into a fire breathing pointy ear instead of lightning shooting lizard (just a random example) o:

I have one main it's all I play I think I'm at 185 days play time on it. But I have other characters that I lvled to better understand the classes I'll fight in pvp.

My main has high pvp rank all crafting and motifs and every weapon and skill line maxed out in the game. This is what keeps me from really playing anything else, it's a lot of time and work and gold to max a character out like this(pve and pvp)

I would love a token to be able to change class would save a lot of time. I play a mdk dark elf but would love to switch to a high elf sorc. I have a sorc but again I would need to lvl abilities get mage guild undaunted up and eh it's a lot.

I'm playing one character also , this is due to the fact that i'm maniac,

I can't support the idea to get achievement on reroll ... cause I know that i won't even try to do all other achievement on this reroll, like Master angler ... Monster trophees ... 50 quest in this or this area ... when i open the achievement tab of my char i'm like " oh this is so clean ... all blue bar are practically at 100%" , while on my reroll when i open this tab i just disconnect to log on my main and do more achievement.

personnaly i'm a mag sorc but i would like to play magblade ... not because i think it's " OP " or anything else , just because the gameplay seems better.

i have something like 26 700 achievement points with my main, it's also because i spend a lot of time on this character ... 3 years.

If you change the fundamental aspect of the character it is no longer the same character but a different one. You want a new character but don't want to put in the effort to have one.

Yep I play one toon 95% of the time. I rolled a thief for TG, and rolled two healers and got them leveled, but I hardly have time enough to play my main, the game is so vast there is just too much to do on him alone. I know many in the same boat.

Personally I think each should play as they like, be it many characters, or just the one.

And I also think that both class change and alliance change could be good additions to the game - as long as they came with enough limits and drawbacks (including a high price in crowns) to prevent overuse.

Though as I keep saying, I also think that alliance change should not be done merely with a token that pops your character over to a different alliance, but with a guild sized DLC that has a "spycraft" theme, with a "loyalty called in question" questline that puts your character before a big choice in the middle (or first quarter, or whatever) - stay loyal and find the real ttraitor who framed you, or defect to greener pastures elsewhere while dodging the agents sent to bring you in? And then progressed down either of those two paths, depending on your choice... bonus points for including familiar faces (hey, who wouldn't slam a porticullis shut into Razum-dars face while hopping on a boat bound to morrowind with Naryu?) Such a DLC might have you revisit old and familiar regions all over tamriel (especially regions used only once during main questline, and then never revisited), with a new region in neutral territory wherre spies gather to spy hard... (kinda like cold war vienna or berlin for example) - possibly a post mainstory isle of stirk?

And it could include nifty titles to reflect your choice... like "[original faction] Loyalist" for those who stayed true or "[original faction] Defector" for those who ran... and should -definitely- include some PvP effects, like defectors earning only half AP for six months, and being worth triple AP when killed by members of their original faction...

And I guess there could also be a crown store token to bypass all the questing for those who really dislike questings... which unlike the DLC might be viable for multiple uses for serial defectors...

So, for some reason, you want your character to forget he was a Saxhleel DK tank in EP and become a some of other 72 genders Bosmer sNB in AD. That is twice as non immersive as changing race.

Its not though, some grow attached to that 1 character possibly comes down to where you started in the genre, mine was swg where we had a single character per account and you could change setup at will so sticking with 1 character became the norm for me and its just something thats carried on since.

Id gladly see a class change that involved grinding up all the skills even resetting you to level 1 so you had to do the 1_50 grind again.

Im happy with templar but it would be nice if the option was there in the future as I have enjoyed stamina healer warden on my 1 alt and would love to change my templar across to warden.

Have only one character. Don't want to waste my time leveling Undaunted, skyshards, books, titles, ton of achivements. Not to mention quests... So in this case, "roll another class" statement is 100% dumb and stupid.

I prefer to play one character because frankly, I hate to redo stuff on others. It feels like I'm wasting time redoing stuff, while I could been doing new stuff on my main character. Like farming motifs and such. There is enough to do still, and I got enough skillpoints to be a crafter as well while doing my pve / (sometimes) pvp stuff without trouble.

One character players are just lazy, don't want to relevel any other skill lines etc again which everyone else does.

I only play one character and i'm not lazy , i could make a magblade and grind skyreach / dark anchor like everyone ... this is not the problem at all, the proof i have a stam sorcerer , a mag nb , a mag dk , a magtemplar , ALL of these char have mag guild/fighter guild maxed and half of these reroll have done 100% of AD quest. the problem come after that ... i just don't enjoy to play reroll cause they don't have as much achievement as my main ( yeah i know what you will say " you are just lazy to make Master fisher again ... trophees monster ... motif achievement again " and yes it's the case , just the fact to imagine that to enjoy these char i will need to do 3 years of achievement again ... is horrible. ) ... but you can't understand.

btw , i'm not " everyone " some players just play for pvp meta , if they read that the sorc is OP on the forum ... hop they delete a char and create a sorc ... farm skyreach quickly .. gold a stuff and they have fun , and if 6 month ago the sorc become bad they just delete the sorc and make a new char ... somes players like to be noob cause they have fun simply by activate the HM of a dungeon again and again even when the lead they them to stop. somes players only play for RP, somes players like to have the ugliest char with the worst name possible , there is a lot of different players on this game.

There's no point in having more than one character, if swapping takes 45 minutes of game time away.

I got around the issue by re-skilling to do PvE stuff; and then re-skilling back again to do crafting.
I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.

Always just one character in mmo's Its called roll playing myself. I always research the classes and races of any mmo before i decide what to play. Its an old school way of doing things most mmo players today don't have a clue about.
