They need to be available for AP or awarded to PvP players in some way.
ZOS needs to throw more of a bone to people who solely PvP (I am not one of those people, I do both). But as it is now, players get very little for playing PvP vs playing PvE.

I expect it will much rarer, more in the area of 1 in 50 runs will net you enough for 1 retrait. I believe this new system is more of a supplement than a replacement for farming a set.
Example, I remember farming BSW. Must have run it 150-200 times because i just couldn't get the legs in divines (spoiler, i did eventually). I had the rest of the armor easily within the first 100 runs. Its situations like that i believe the new system will come into play. I would have earned 2 retrait crystals in that first 100 runs, could have burned one on the legs and would have been done.
We'll see how it shakes out, but if my scenario is correct, i would say 1M is a more reasonable price tag. I rarely PVP and i have 2.5M AP sitting in my bank. About 2M of that is from the last double PVP event.

If they make it too easy to transmute... then they will be killing off gear grinding... now if drop rates were low then essentially the grind will be for two things... both the item and/or the crystals...
@sevomd69
Killing off gear grinding is good, though. Why would choose wasting our time instead of enjoying the content, or heaven forbid needing to play for fewer hours? I think there's a certain amount of content hours per content type that they need to keep going to make sure there's a healthy community size at all hours, but anything beyond that is absolutely pointless.
At least for me... gear grind is what keeps me interested in a game...the sheer exhilaration of getting that divine valkyn helm after about 200+ runs... its like skooma on meth... for example... I loved Diablo 3, until my buddy taught me the dupe glitch... and gave me a billion gold... then I just lost interest in the game because there was nothing for me to strive for...
BTW... don't care about leaderboards and such...

That would get rid of this stupid having to carry around two types of armor for two different types of content problem. I hate that I have to carry two sets of the same armor (Impen for PVP, Divines for PVE).
End of campaign rewards with more for each placement in the leaderboard tiers could be something to help push people to compete for the top on single characters again.Takes-No-Prisoner wrote: »As some one who PvPs I mostly agree. However, getting transmutation crystals via rewards of the worthy, end of campaign rewards would be a nice gesture.
If you keep it to only the gold/purple tier it also means more work for people who want to get them on every alt.

I dare say the players who get shut out most likely are those that don't really need them...
Takes-No-Prisoner wrote: »I think gold tier rewards would be a good solution. The purple tier is easily reachable if you play a couple of hours PvP per week, especially on buff campaigns. Having your char within the top 2% is harder and avoids it being a straight handout. The players who prefer PvP reach this threshold easily anyway.
True, but, not everyone can PvP that hard or as long as the guy who can stay on 24 hours a day defending his Emperorship ya know? Needs to have some more accessibility to get guy who can only really play on weekends and some week nights.
The top 2% are normally the best 40 players or so per alliance depending on campaign population for the alliance. During the PvP event I did get gold rewards on rank 68 though still. Nothing to do with having to be on 24/7.
Awesomeness. Thanks for sharing.Gilliamtherogue wrote: »Creative Design (Rich Lambert) said they'll also come from RotW and End of Camp rewards.

This is an absolute lie and so far from the truth its actually appalling. The "best 40 players" are almost always solo/small scalers, not zerglings, thus their ap gains are much lower.
Or let us buy the things with Master Writ vouchers? That would be awesome...

Yesterday I was #8 on the EP PS4 Vivec NA when I went to sleep, when I woke up I was down to #50.
My next session I will climb back up but for those that can't log in every day it is much harder.

ESO is a PVE game with a PVP add on. If you don't want to run the dungeons, you won't get the transmute items.
This game was not developed for the PVP minority it was developed for the PVE majority.
They should not be purchasable by any means, writs, AP or gold.
In order to have a minimal impact on the economy they should BoP as are the weapons and armor in these dungeons and trials. Weapons and armor can only be traded with people on the run within a given time frame.
Should these transmute items be trade-able?
If they were what impact would that have on economy?

Without PvP the game would have nothing to do but fight mindless robots.
I am pleased to see that the devs are dropping the stones in PvP.
