No matter what, most players are still going to be shut out of getting those transmutation thingies.

Actually getting players shut out from something isnt always bad, not everyone should be able to complete vetTrials since they are a sign of skill and understanding the mechanics ect.

might be a bit harsh to say, but BIS gear is nice to have, but has no impact if you cannot play your class on a very high skilllevel.
So maybe 70% of all players dont even need them, since it makes no difference if you have for example a Precise Weapon or a NIrnhoned one, for players who arent in the top tier. The Dmg loss / gain is probably not worth it for them to get a retrait.

Not the popular opinion, i'm sure, but i really hope they do this whole trait change nonsense in a way that doesn't absolutely crush the in-game economy.

But its zos so it'll probably be implemented in the worst way possible lol

Maybe this is just my optimism, but i think this will create a stronger and more knowledgeable player base.

There will be more rookies entering vet dungeons and there will be veterans running them with these rookies when they need a pug. This is an opportunity to teach and become a "mentor" of sorts to the newer players who want to become better but are always afraid to ask. This is also an opportunity for people to show maturity and understanding on how not all aspire to be the best. There will be toxic moments there is no doubt about that. HM wont be achieved as some will expect it and get angry, lets just hope it is not that often.

    My thoughts,

ESO is a PVE game with a PVP add on. If you don't want to run the dungeons, you won't get the transmute items.
This game was not developed for the PVP minority it was developed for the PVE majority.
They should not be purchasable by any means, writs, AP or gold.

In order to have a minimal impact on the economy they should BoP as are the weapons and armor in these dungeons and trials. Weapons and armor can only be traded with people on the run within a given time frame.

Should these transmute items be trade-able?
If they were what impact would that have on economy?

Without PvP the game would have nothing to do but fight mindless robots.
I am pleased to see that the devs are dropping the stones in PvP.

Fighting "mindless robots" is how gaming started.

Where was it stated that they will be dropping in PVP, if they do drop it will be off of "mindless robots." I don't care where they drop i just don't believe they should be purchasable.

Try looking a few posts up. Rich on twitter. smh

All you people thinking its gonna be easy to re-trait gear... these crystals are gonna have a drop rate like aethereal dust or require many crystals to transmute...

Then be sold for crowns LMAO

For people who do not do dungeons or trials and are strictly in PVP now. I feel like this change needs to include an option for PVP orientated players the same way the Golden Vendor offers PVE only items.

Maybe buy for 1 million AP once a week?(AS SUGGESTED BY COMMENTS BELOW, END OF CAMPAIGN REWARDS IS A BETTER IDEA IMO) IDK, i'm not into going back to do more PVE. Yes i know thats my problem!

Yes, great idea! 1 million is a lot though, depends I suppose on what the cost is for PVE players, is it bind on equip, can you purchase with writ vouchers and if so, how many?

I don't think the point of these transmutation crystals is to generate that much of a gold sink where you are spending 200k gold / 1 million AP just to change the trait of an item. Sort of defeats the purpose.

Anyone know if these transmutation stones will be BoP or not???

Personally I hope they´re BoP, and I also hope that the weapon/gear you decide to re-trait will become BoP (In order to affect the market as little as possible)
With Rich response in mind I'd say that the crystals are either a rather rare drop (1/5 chance per dungeon) and tradeable or straight up bop. I'm inclined to think it's the first one

Obviously I meant "best by AP", not "best by skill level". I thought that was clear in the context. Of course the players at the top of the leaderboards are not always the "best" players. Though I would contest your assessment that zerging yields more AP than a good coordinated small scale group makes. I never heard Zerg Squad complaining for example. Right @MLRPZ ?

    Complaining about what ?

    EP // The Goatfather // Templar // AR44
    AD // Unforgoatable // Sorc // AR33
    EP // You Goat Rekt // NB // AR28

    AD // Goat Ya // NB // AR24
    AD // Unforgoatten // StamDK // AR 21

    and many unused PVE chars

As some one who PvPs I mostly agree. However, getting transmutation crystals via rewards of the worthy, end of campaign rewards would be a nice gesture.
End of campaign rewards with more for each placement in the leaderboard tiers could be something to help push people to compete for the top on single characters again.

If you keep it to only the gold/purple tier it also means more work for people who want to get them on every alt.

Yup! I was thinking the same thing. More crystals to the guy who gets the better ranking slot. Though, we need to not forget about people who boost using friends on other alliance colors. This is still a problem-- least on PS4 NA. It's really easy to abuse that.
That has been confirmed against ToS now though, so if people have evidence it can be submitted and bans handed out.

Umm yeah, GL with that, it's literally impossible to tell, unless you get in discord with them and record them talking about it.

I thought we are already able to earn the crystals from PVP?
Transmutation requires Transmute Crystals, precious resources occasionally received for successfully completing Veteran PvE activities such as Pledges, Trials, and Arenas, and several PvP sources such as Rewards for the Worthy, Battleground end of match rewards, and AvA end of campaign rewards. Transmute Crystals are an account wide, capped currency which cannot be banked or traded.
