Rivenspire.

So, I've reached the point in the Rivenspire quest line where I need to advise King Emeric as to who should be crowned ruler of that realm. I can pick either Baron Alard Dorell or Countess Eselde Tamrith. However, despite not being able to find evidence that either has a current living partner, I am unable to recommend that they wed and assume rule as King and Queen together.

Have I missed something, or had Zenimax online missed something instead?

I mean... obviously if the option isn't there, then it's not an option. The two characters, as I recall, hardly got along as it is. Why would they want to get married?

I was kind of hoping for a "how about both" option originally, too. The way they bicker, maybe romance is on the horizon eventually, who knows. She is such a dingbat but she has a good heart and surely that has to appeal to that practical old sourpuss jerk on some level.

It was either him or a overzealous religious fundamentalist who were it not for my intervention would've killed her own sister in a heartbeat.

Dorell is overly aggressive and isn't thoughtful (though neither is Tamrith), but at least he's not a fundie and has a sense or honor (e.g., how he handled the aftermath of Northpoint).

It may surprise you that different people have different tastes. Not everybody thinks and feels exactly like you. Some people find this very scary and intimidating and try to stamp out any signs of diversity in society...

    hilarious!!!

I mean, i get this was likely tongue-in-cheek, but i am always amazed at how little some folks know about the actual history of marriage. For most of its history, marriage has been a financial and political union first and foremost with the notion of marriage for romance alone (or even at all) being a rarity until quite recently.

Key is there are more than likely countless historical examples where just such a thing happened or more where they grew to tolerate each other.

I took 3 characters through the whole quest lines (back when it was Gold and Silver and VR14 was max level). On one character I played the nice guy and let everyone live, then on the next I played a Nord Playboy that only let women live, and on the last character that I took through the quest line I played a mean vampire elf that wanted everybody to die...

I usually pick her to lead the realm because I figure she will be more sympathetic to vampires now that she has a sister that is one.

I put a lot more thought into the final decision on the mages guild quest line though.

Yeah it would be nice to have that, but I think it plays along with the story, that they don't really like each other. Also maybe they have a story line down the road where they end up fightning and starting another "Ranser's War".

I think the bigger oversight is leaving out the option to choose Gwendis and validate House Ravenwatch as a Rivenspire noble family.

IIRC I went with the Baron my first run through; the Countess said she wanted to be Queen to help people and I couldn't help but think, 'But you don't need to be Queen to do that. In fact all the political minutiae will probably actively interfere with that.' And yes, the anti-vampire bent when one of the other major (and arguably most useful) houses is nothing but vampires played a factor too.
    Acrolas wrote: »

IMO if we're going to go that route, it should be Adusa not Gwendis - Adusa seems to have more (un)life experience, where Gwendis just got through her...vampire apprenticeship or whatever you want to call the test where she manages to push past the fact that ninety percent of the people she meets are potential food.

Verandis would have been the best choice, if he'd been available.

I go with Baron Dorell because he seems most reasonable. Countess Tamrith is just to uppity and religious she reminds me of people I've known in real life who I prefer not deal with. She does have a few good aspects but the bad far outweigh the good for me.

I usually choose the Countess, mainly because the Dorell Family represents a direct economical competitor to Emerics House. With acess/control to the Sea and a merchant fleet, and probably enough weight to throw around in the covenant, they are a Ranser bound to happen. Also the Baron is married, while the Countess might be wed to a ally or offspring of Wayrest or even Sentinel.

My vampire actually picked Dorell, because Tamrith's comments about the Light and Arkay got really old in the end and she was fine with killing her sister for being turned. Dorell was less hostile towards Verandis' condition in the beginning too, he seemed like the more vampire-friendly choice to me.

Honestly though, they're both pretty irritating. The thought did cross my mind that I'd prefer to put House Ravenwatch in charge, but I don't think they'd appreciate it and I'm not sure the people would appreciate it either.
