Four Missing Skyshards

I'm 4 skyshards away from getting the ESO Skyshard achievement. The 4 I'm missing are all in Cyrodiil behind "enemy" lines. I happen to be in the Ebonheart Pact but this same problem could apply to anyone regardless of alliance. The skyshards I need are near two temples in the blue territory and two temples in the yellow territory.

I have an online friend (in the yellow alliance) who claims that he had no problem getting the 4 skyshards that were by the red temples and the blue temples. He said that he just sneaked through the gate that led to those temples and got them. I don't see how this is possible. I've tried several times to "sneak" through the enemy gate and get attacked by very aggressive NPCs who can see me a mile away even when I'm in sneak mode.

Is my friend full of Kaka or is there really a way to reach these shards without being detected?

The only way to reach those skyshards are if the enemy gates are opened.

And the only way to open those enemy gates are for the keeps that guard the gates are captured by another faction.

On busy campaigns during busy hours, gates are rarely opened because the populations are usually well-balanced enough that capturing keeps that deep inside enemy territory is extremely difficult. They're more likely to be opened on less busy campaigns and/or during quieter hours, as it's easier for there to be population imbalances that facilitate the capture of those keeps.

Your faction need to hold the two keeps closest to the wall, this let you pass the gatehouse.
Look at the various campaigns and see if they are held by you faction, if so jump in and go for them.

Thanks guys. So my buddy who said he sneaked in through all 4 gates by himself is BSing me? He's yellow and said that he got the two red and the two blue shards when the campaign was almost entirely under red control. I'm going to call him on it.

So I'm basically screwed unless I can gather enough members of my alliance to force our way through the gates after owning the two closest keeps. That sorta sucks.

Just check out the smaller campaigns. I'm DC and was missing the two AD skyshards until the other day when Xarxes was completely blue. During the day there's nothing going on. Just pop an invisible potion when you're not an NB and 'sneak' through both gates and get them.

Or you're lucky and your alliance is going for scrolls during prime time and you can get them by joining them.

He's not BSing ... whether you run through the gate or "sneak" through it, those back keeps still have to be captured for the gate to open.

As other forum-goers have mentioned, check your guest campaign to see if the map is better for those skyshards.

If you're on NA PC, the Vivec CP campaign has had a lot of scroll takes in the past week ... so keep your eyes on the map for your opportunity.

He might not have known the mechanism, sneaking is anyway smart as you can have enemy players coming the other way to take back the keeps

As code65536 says, do this in slow hours on low population servers, look at the maps of them, some tend to be owned by one faction from time to time,

Definitely BSing you. Would be impossible to get through the red gates at least while they control the map.

As Zaria said, look at the other campaigns until you find one controlled by your faction, preferably at a quiet time. With the 2 extra campaigns still open you might get lucky on one of those.

I managed to sneak in to 3 of the 4 areas with no problems, tho the last one did take a few attempts!

Empty campaign which red is dominating should ensure gates are open. Then you can get through and get them. No other way to get them without the gates being opened unfortunately.

The gates need to be open in order to get them. Look for a campaign that your alliance pretty much owns everything. Hopefully the gates'll be open for ya.

When gates are open, just go trough and heal, dont fight guards. I have all skyshards from enemy temples on all 14 chars, it is not that hard to get.

My husband was able to use his nightblade leap at enemy ability to fly into the window of the gate and get through and leash the mobs. My Templar leap ability was not so lucky but I eventually got it when the gates were opened.

Was in Xarxes today. I'm red and red owned most of the map. But blue still held their corner and yellow held theirs. All four gates were closed. Just realized today that if you look at a gate on the map and you see the mesh screen on the gate then it's closed. Found out when I tried to run past the yellow NPC guards and rush through the gate. NO GO! I almost got slaughtered. I was able to run away and heal but I didn't give it a second try.

It doesn't work longer. When you dash/being pulled into the window or balcony of closed gate, you get 100% hp enviromental damage.

Those 4 are pain... I know it because you need to be lucky to get them If you are solo...

I tried to get them for a long time but then I was like.. pff.. it is not worth the time... then I just started doing normal PvE content....

After like 4 moths I joined as guest to 7-day campaign in a non - prime time (early in the morning 7 - 8 am) and... OMG all map was in my alliance colour.. and 0 population... and all gates open.. so I went to a trip and got them... I was just extremely lucky....

(btw. I think that this is a horrible game design to put those skyshards behind those gates... )

If you are not a Nightblade try some Invisibility potions.

He's not necessarily BSing you. Often in low population times, gates are left open for hours on end without anyone defending them and it may have been a situation like that.

On the day that he said he got all 4 shards, we were in Cyrodiil at the same time. We usually work together on dungeons and delves but since we're different alliances we weren't able to work together while in Cyrodiil. Red owned the map that day. Red was very active. He told me that he was able to sneak in through both red and both blue gates to get the shards. I don't think it was possible on that day during that time period.

I wish I could get some guild help but all the guilds I belong to are concerned about raffles, dues, donations, and traders. I have yet to find a guild that actually meets at certain places and certain times to discuss what sorts of ACTIONS we are planning to do that day. I hope to find a guild someday that actually does stuff.
