Is this the new ESO now?

I love playing this game so much, but lately all the bugs and issues have been making this game more of a chore day by day.

I started playing this game a while ago, and maybe I was lucky but I rarely encountered any issues, my game would play flawlessly 99% of the time. Now, however, it's completely different.

I told myself that it was the Morrowind expansion - new expansion, new bugs, new issues. Lots of new players crowding the servers etc But it's been a good while since Morrowind's release and the problems are all still there. The game has since gone through a lot of maintenance but I still can't see any improvements happening.

Meshes not loading, character's not voicing their dialogue, music cutting on and off, environment sounds cutting on and off, item icons not showing, delayed sounds when harvesting nodes, invisible enemies, other players only showing up as silhouettes, game crashing sometimes if I a) use a crafting station b) talk to an NPC c) use a wayshrine d) open my bank.

I love exploring this game, to the extent where I won't use wayshrines or boats/carriages. I was travelling through Vvardenfell and the amount of these issues that I was getting in the space of 10-15 mins was so unbearable I just ignored the quest I was on and fast travelled to another zone. Didn't even bother to look for the closest wayshrine or a guildmate, just wanted to get the hell outn of Vvardenfell.

Is this the new ESO now? Where I will count myself lucky if I managed to play for 20 minutes without encountering at least 4 of these issues.

On a side-note, away from all the doom and gloom, I've just started the DB questline in the Gold Coast - loving it, can't believe I never started this sooner.

Sounds like corrupted files, ask in technical support forum.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Umm? This is ESO. This game been broken , buggy and neglected since day 1.

To OP: "Is this the new ESO?", no... IT IS ESO. It's the reality of it. This game will never improve its servers since it's been a complain for years and players been given broken promises over and over. You just have to get used to it or find a better game :/

Can I ask what your computer specs are and how good your internet connection is? I had some of these issues on my old laptop that could barely handle the game. Since I play on a newer rig I had barely any of these loading issues.

These "issues" are on all platforms. On console you get "stuck" in terrain that's not loading properly. Or end up in loading screens in PvP while in a fight or just by traveling too quick through PvE zones. Enemies showing up as black silhouettes is an every day experience.
Lag and disconnects is "part of the game experience" and really should have came in the discription of the game. LFG been completely broken since it first came out and there has never been a fix just broken promises patch after patch. BG been broken since day 1 and it literally takes 15-30min to get in and there hasn't been a solid fix for this. The ESO experience is disappointing and an embarassement.

Also BG groud finder is better than on release. If that's truely the "everyday" performance on consoles, which I find hard to believe, then I understand your sour response.

    @Diabolus1989:

Sorry to hear you're having these issues. Not sure which platform you're on. I play NA PC and have been fortunate I suppose that I've had a relatively problem free experience since launch. Perhaps a repair for corrupted files and if you're on PC you may be needing a defrag, also if you're financially able, invest in a good video card. Hope you get it worked out!

What toxic hyperbole. Take a break, eat a snickers - something that helps you get a grip.

OP - is this behavior only occuring in the new area, or in all of them? It isn't normal, by any means.

To clarify, I'm Xbox One Eu.

I know this game will always have issues, all games do. This is my first MMO, but I can only assume that due to the size of these games, MMOs are probably subject to issues more often than other games.

These issues mainly happen in Vvardenfell (no surprise there I'm sure). In other zones, it's alright - the issues are there, but they're not as often and I can ignore them for the most part. Strangely enough, I never seem to have issues in Wrothgar.

I'm still patiently waiting for these issues to subside, or to at least decrease in frequency, but every now and then they come all at once and irritate me to no ends.

That being said, they won't drive me from the game. I love the ES universe, and so far the pros of the game are still outweighing the cons.

I'm not. Need me to say it too?

OP: if you state your platform and region, people may be able to assist. If you're on PC, I don't think your situation is usual. Not that the game runs flawlessly, ha ha, but there may be things you can tinker with to ease some of your specific issues.

it has in the last year gotten progressively worse, the server issues, memory leaks, crashes, etc. on XBOX have reached an all time high since just before Morrowind.

I'm ashamed that I had to sub again because of inventory issues :(

Ditto on suggesting a reinstall. These sorts of issues strike me as corrupted files, and since you're on XBox, you can't just repair the client.

Sorry to hear you got bit by such nasty bugs. That's super frustrating! Most people don't experience that, so hopefully a reinstall will patch up what's missing in your game.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

    ^^^^ Yup

I've had my share of ESO's patcher mis behaving on PC, but after some digging I figured out what the issue was. Then fixed it myself!

PS4 I don't really have much issue either. Some lag in PvP, sometimes blue screen. But that is about it.

let me get this straight... I should delete and reinstall the whole thing again on XBOX?

anybody wanna try this and report back? I doubt it, as I've noticed performance varies depending on area... still smacks of server issues to me.

I know it's not my internet and too many others are having the same issues from all over the world. The past two or three days my skills won't even fire off, stuck in animation, cant take potions, can't get into the bank or a zone( spinning spinning spinning). Textures not rendering. Takes 30 seconds to load a bush or a rock. It's doing this in the middle of nowhere with no players around. I usually only suffer from the rendering issue in wrothgar, vivec, craglorn, etc. High traffic areas. The most frustrating is the stupid bar swap. It just flat refuses to swap. I know people will come in and say oh it's just lag. Lol....of course it's lag. But somethimg is terribly wrong with this game lately. I just wish Zos would get to the bottom of it before adding any more content. With each dlc or update.....it kills this game.

Edit: forgot to add I was on XboxOne

I've done this on my PS4. Usually I do it before a big patch hits. If you decide to do this, I would recommend running the download while you sleep. Lesser traffic, faster downloads. No guarantee it'll fix all the issues, but its worth a shot.

I also recommend hard wiring a ethernet cable to the machine like I have for mine.

I'm on Xbox NA and I have experienced this daily since One Tamriel. Progressively getting worse. Vivec City is the new Wrothgar for me, guaranteed to crash to dashboard. Though, it still happens in Wrothgar as well. LOL. I was enthusiastic about this game when I started playing a couple years ago but lately, it's problems are outweighing the fun factor. Even the recent PVP event, and I didn't previously PVP, left a bad taste. I finally got to experience the fun PVPers have complained about re:game performance. LAG, at random times, mostly when in group battles (which is the heart of PVP isn't it?) crashes, also mainly during group battles, and all the rest. SO, yes, it is ESO, has been for a while.

Side note: I recently reset my Xbox one and even reinstalled all the content. SO, fresh ESO on the HD. No effect on performance.

Unfortunately they won't get to the bottom of it. Zenimax have turned into the Martin Shkreli of the gaming industry. Let's charge 100s of dollars for cosmetic bs and not care about the core game giving players a bad experience.

The only issue I've had with ESO are random DC's. However, I haven't had those in the last week or so, your issues sound like they are on your end. If so many of you feel that these are game breaking issues, and you don't think they will ever be fixed, why do you still play? You say ZOS doesn't listen but yet you post here daily, why waste your time with that?

Well, I can't speak for everyone but as for myself, I post to share my experiences with other players in order to determine if it is an issue on my end or not. With so many people experiencing the same issues often at the same time and under the same circumstances over the years, at this time I can't conclude it to be the end users issue. At least when it comes to console where hardware is a constant, the internet connection perhaps being the variable. So, I will continue to play albeit less so until other share of improvement, this is due to an already large amount of time and money invested (no one wants to feel like the made a bad purchase or investment) and do not feel it a waste of time to contribute my experience as it can still help someone.

He's not exaggerating that much. Console performance isn't great. The NPCs not loading does happen every single time play, along with textures/terrain not loading properly. The lag is a little better, but still happens with regularity.

Not sure how many of these issues are simply due to limitations of the Xbox itself. I definitely didn't experience them on PC.

Or something else ok the local side. My first thought when he said meshes not loading. Yes. Tech support would be the way to go.

Meshes not loading sounds like corrupt files. never run into it outside of the seconds after load.

Was pleasant surprised of pvp as I have not done serious since I returned, yes population is reduced :( but was running in zerg on pop locked campaigns and only issue was 1 min loading screens. might add another ssd for eso and some other games.
PC is overkill for eso outside of not having game on SSD, i7@4Gh, 980ti, 32 gb ram.

Yes game has issues, Dungeon finder issues, no ranking in BG
Loads of small stuff: reply on mail, preview of gear on character before crafting, putting level 10 in nIcP and nRoM.
Note don't buy the next expansion if you plan to level an low level alt in group dungeons.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
