To be fair, Daedric Red is kind of a tricky one, I should probably have used a different red. I don't have any really good reds, though.

@Incognitius not necessarily, Daedric Red is a special weird red that won't show up as a good red in certain lightings. A better test would be Ruby Throne Red but not a whole lot of people have that.I'd say that Magnus Setting Red and Dragonstar Red would be good tests, though, even though their secondary colors are like purple and junk.
When testing dyes my go-to colors are- Legate Black (good substitute is Coldharbour Ash Black) : If it looks gray it will take ALL dyes poorly except the lightest shades. Easy test for trash-tier dye compatibility.
- Ruby Throne Red (good substitute tends to be Magnus Setting or Dragonstar Red) : Easy test for god-tier dye compatibility. 100% of the costumes I've tested that take red well take all colors well.
- Ophidian Jade : good greens are about as rare as good reds and take well to costumes with just as poor a frequency. Another important test color. No good substitutes for testing purposes.
- Julianos White : Important because even some cloth-looking items just can't do white to save their life, for some reason. For some reason leather and certain cloth objects just aren't allowed to be white, even though that's not how it works in real life and certainly not how it should work in a game with magic costume paint.
- Colossus Brass : new test object, closest thing we have to a rare-tier yellow. Other yellows are either more brown (like Dominion Yellow) or have weird other tints (Akatosh Scales Gold, Transliminal Violet)
- Covenant Blue : Honestly this test color is complicated, because it's not actually blue. It's more purple. But if it shows up as especially purple then it's a good bet it's going to change other colors in undesirable ways as well. Good blues are hard to find still.

I bought the male version for myself, but it seems I've been 'had' again. The silver isn't dye able. So if you're going for a gold colour scheme (as I was for this char), you're out of luck. xD
