EP vs. DC - 4K Damage Difference - One Character Is Doing More Damage - Identical Builds

While testing, it was examined that a Templar from the DC Alliance did a consistent 4K (approximate) less damage than an identically built character with less passives (due to not having the trees fully leveled) from the EP Alliance. This was tested in and out of Cyrodiil on players, NPC's, and target dummies. CP expenditures were verified to be identical. Gear was identical. The EP character was lacking some passives. The only difference noted between the two characters.

Has anyone else encountered this or something similar?

If this is done in Cyrodiil, are you taking into account scroll bonuses along with those passives??

Yes. No faction had a damage buff when the testing was done. That was the first thing I thought of too. Then, I learned that the results persisted outside of Cyrodiil.

I need to also add that the exact same skills were slotted on both characters as well. Forgot that bit.

Post your Combat Metrics screenshots here so we can look at it. Post your Super Star character sheet as well. I'm sure it's something silly you're overlooking (like no mundus stone on one toon, a missing glyph on your weapon, etc.).

Are the missing passives irrelevant to the DPS? Eg some destruction staff passives give more penetration and as such more DPS

The rub is that it isn't my characters. I'm posting this for a friend that has potentially discovered some strangeness.

Mundus is the same. The gear was actually all transferred through the bank. It's identical gear because it is literally the same gear. All available skills (active and passive) are identical. Same food as well. I also asked to make sure Continuous Attack wasn't active on one and not the other. Player verified that buffs were identical.

Here's a twist. The EP (doing more damage) does not have the second point in Twin Blade & Blunt yet. Both characters were on Dual Wield bar for the test. The test was simplified down to Dark Flare spam on the same target dummy. The EP hit consistently with 28K max flares. The DC hit consistently with 24K max flares.

In everything applicable but Twin Blade & Blunt. The character doing more damage is missing the second point in this passive.

Unless the skills are all maxed out and it sounds like they are not, then skill level would effect dps. For instance, if both players are level 4 in a skill but not maxed level 4, then they are probably not both at the same level in that skill. That would effect dps.

What platform and campaign, is it reproducible everywhere? 4K is massive and I've never seen any evidence that I'm doing on average that much less damage than an EP player. We definitely need some hard evidence.

The DC has 50 in Dawn's Wrath. The EP (higher damage) has 49 in this tree, almost 50. The tooltip amounts were identical.

NA PC server. It was tested on a combat dummy in a Homestead instance.

I will ask him for any screens he can provide. My characters are all DC, or I'd be attempting to test this myself with Combat Metrics. I really believe what my friend is saying. He has no reason to lie. This is definitely an understandable request though.

    All is a lie.

Or maybe, you is a troll?

The person I'm posting for, coincidentally, didn't want to come to the forums. I can't imagine why he wouldn't. Can you, hmsdragonfly?

Regardless, he is going to upload screens to our Discord channel later today. I guess the lovable trolls will have to go sleep under their respective bridges until that time.

I don't know what the screens are. I haven't seen them yet. Hopefully they will contain the desired information. Thank you for your constructive/creative input concerning this topic though.

Well it would certainly be interesting if this is true, although I have to imagine it's some overlooked variable as there are so many. Looking forward to the conclusion.

could this be battle leveling in action?

despite character being max level some skills/skill lines are not so could the 1 character still be receiving some battle leveling to 'compeensate'?

idk just throwing an idea into the mix!

It's literally impossible for us to say! I know that there was a recent issue discovered with mitigation calculations arising from how CP were placed between the new ironclad and hardy stars. But I believe those that discovered this also checked for discrepancies with the new master at arms star and found nothing.

I guess it could simply be RNG procs or something, IDK.

I had a health discrepancy recently between an AD and DC character. They are set exactly the same, had similar CP, skills, attributes, etc. I ended up stripping both of everything. All CP, skills and attributes set to zero, stripped gear, but there was still almost 1k difference. Then realized a ring got missed :D It's amazing the silly things that can mess with numbers that get over-looked.
