Devs, could you guys take a look at the Vampire Lord gear set?

I ask this because the existence of War Maiden armor has taken a bit of steam out of the value of Vampire Lord armor...

Vampire Lord armor gives 400 Spell Damage to Vampiric abilities (which are overwhelmingly Magic based damage; there is one exception, but its very rarely used [Baleful Mist is Poison based damage]), but War Maiden gives 400 Spell Damage to all Magic based damage abilities...

It almost renders Vampire Lord armor obsolete...almost.

Vampire Lord armor does reduce the cost of Vampiric abilities by 5%, but compared to what War Maiden gives, this 5% reduction is a bit lacking...


Is it possible that Vampire Lord armor could receive a little 'something' to set it more apart from War Maiden?

I see 3 possibilities that would not be overpowering (atleast not in my opinion):

1) Add a bit to Vampire Lords Spell Damage buff for Vampiric abilities (maybe around 50-100 more Spell Damage)...
2) Add to the Spell Cost Reduction of Vampiric abilities (maybe around 3-5%)...
3) Get rid of the Spell Cost Reduction and add a 1-2 second duration buff to Vampiric abilities with the 5th piece bonus...


I hope you guys atleast take a look at this...

I am a big fan of Vampirism in this game, have created a Vampire themed character https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/357409/the-vampire-lord-magicka-templar-build#latest, and wear the Vampire Lord gear proudly...

So could you guys atleast take a look at this?

    I'm not sure that the problem is the set... but rather the vampire skill line. Or lack thereof.

    Altho an extra 2 seconds of bats would be pretty sweet.

    Yeah until there are more abilities in the vampire skill line the Vampire Lord set just won't be really that useful.

    I agree that the Vampire Lord set is too weak. It *could* be a really cool set, but it's not. Make it something worth actually using in PvP and overland PvE.

    If you look at the set in isolation, its fine...

    The stats it gives are good and the 5th piece bonus is good...


    The problem is that War Maiden is stepping on Vampire Lords toes (so to speak) as War Maiden buffs Vampire abilities to the exact same degree that Vampire Lord does (with the one exception of Baleful Mist...which is rarely used as Elusive Mist is far superior).

    Not only that, but War Maiden buffs all Magic based damage abilities by 400 points making it clearly superior to Vampire Lord as the 5% reduction in Spell Cost for Vampiric abilities isn't enough to off-set wide range of abilities War Maiden buffs...

    Thus, Vampire Lord gear needs to be buffed so that it isn't so far behind what War Maiden offers...


    As for the Vampiric skill line needing a few more abilities, you will get no argument from me there...

    I, personally, am fine with what we have available though as (compared to Werewolf) we have full access to our Vampiric abilities at all times whereas Werewolves must assume Werewolf Form to access theirs...

    I think the two choices are balanced in that regard...

    As a full time vamp since launch I never bar Vamp skills, all 3 of them are poor skills.
    I think this set should get an additional ability on its current state to apply life siphon on ALL attacks from player (not just vamp ones) but only IF the player is a vamp.

    I would be very pleased if they did that...

    If they did that, then they could get rid of the 5% Spell Cost Reduction; adding a 2 second duration to all Vamp abilities would be very acceptable...

    Heck, I'd be happy with a 1 second duration increase (which would be very significant)...

    Or they can just do as they´ve done with all other sets that buffs specific stuff: 450 weapon/spelldamage.

    @TheDoomsdayMonster Baleful mist is magic damage. You're looking at old info.

    Honestly I would like to see vampire cloak to modify mist (since it's a protection set). Make it so we can get 50% of our magic regen and 25% of outside healing while in mist form. This would pair well the other vampire set and make using vamp skills more valuable.

    Vampire Lord should stay mostly as is, but give 200 spell damage to all other sources of magic based damage. So war maiden is still better but wearing this set isn't only benefiting 2-3 skills at the expense of every other skill you have.

    Vampire kiss (crafted) should be overhauled. I recommend: 4% healing done, spell critical, spell/physical mitigation, when you cause damage with vampire abilities restore 7% of missing resources. This would function similar to the heal on drain where the less resources missing the less effective the return is. This would work through mist.

    Before yelling OP, realize vamps in PvP will ALWAYS be subject to 10k+ damage crits from prismatic glyphs and that's after battle damage. WW are only subject to that while transformed. We need vamp skills be a realistic way to mitigate our weaknesses vs every other skill being more worthwhile. These make those wanting to use vamps skills on their rotation to have sets that make them more reasonable.

    Maybe final point is that the vampire sets bonuses to vamp skills should lessen the higher stage you are. This will keep vamps from being OP by having almost no weaknesses in stage 1, but huge benefits from these sets.

    "Whilst under the effect of vampire abilities, gain x mag and stam when hit, this has a cooldown of 1 second."

    This would constitute being in bats, channeling drain and mist form. Something like 400/s would make it useful but not completely over powered as it wouldn't completely counteract the cost and the drawbacks of using them.
