Guild Tabard System - What Are Your Thoughts?

Is it surprising to you that people don't wear them? I loved my guild (RIP) but never felt any interest in advertising that fact.

Enjoy, no judgment here. Just not my cup of tea.

I guess it's surprising to me from the point of view that I associate being in a guild as the same as being in a sports team (or any team for that matter). I see wearing a guild tabard the same as wearing a team uniform. It encourages a sense of unity, pride and belonging. I never considered the fact that some people may not want to advertise a guild they love.

Thank you for sharing your opinion and opening my eyes at the same time! (sincerity not sarcasm) :)

I believe we should be able to wear our guild tabards over our costumes/skins. This would make them more usefull.

I am happy with the guild tabard system and believe it does not need to be changed.
    Real suggestion.

It shouldn't be a tabard at all but instead an optional customized dye station option for costumes and gear that toggles on/off

The cosmetic gear is always going to outshine tabards unless tabards are mixed into the motif system which should mean, do away with them

How players think of the tabard system does not necessarily affect if they will wear one or not.

Personally, I like the guild tabard system, however, I am not interested in wearing one. I like the costume or armor I have on costumes and are not interested in having a tabard over them. It is very likely the same reason a number of player have. There is a reason costumes are sold in the crown store.

Thank you for your insight! :)

Put simply, I don't care. I'm only in guilds to sell or because I happen to like the members or GM. I have absolutely no loyalty to any guild I've been in and only stay because it allows me to sell or to chat to people who I happen to like.

I would like other opions like armbands and cloaks maybe let give the guild the option to buy a guild costumes and have maybe have 5 versons per guild and use crafting motifs and make one them selfs to show off your guild

These are some really cool ideas that could also add another layer to the guild and crafting systems. B)

I'm usually in skeleton, drauger, jester, and now 6th house robe. But didn't know about guild name showing. Will start wearing mine.

When you equip a tabard your guild name shows up under your character name. I think it also depends on whether nameplates are shown or not. We all learn something new everyday. Or so they say! :D

As has been mentioned, the icon selection is outdated and sucks. The graphics are subpar. The colors are limited, dull, and suffer the same issues as the dye system (they don't dye correctly), they can't be used with/interfere with costumes and armor. The system needs an overhaul.
People should be able to choose a shield emblem, small waist flag option, full on tabard after purchase so they can choose how it interacts with their armor/costume and not just be stuck with a giant intrusive apron.

They need to correct the way the colors apply and add more options. They library of symbols needs improvement.

The guild tabard system could definitely benefit from your suggestions! :)

There should be options imo. Not just a guild Tabard. But also a guild banner man flag, or a cloak. Also options to include said guild rank as part of title.

Like for example a rank in my guild is Herald. So the title would show Herald *insert name* <of Wolf and Raven>

I wish it could be worn over costumes. Most drop sets are damn ugly, so even on raid nights more than half of the party is in costume, preventing us from wearing the tabards. Shame for ugly gear outweighs pride for guild :D

Actually, costumes in the appearance tab do not overwrite the Tabard AFAIK.

I'd wear my tabard a lot more if it actually showed my armor underneath. Any dlc armor sets just show as black quilted armor under a tabard.

I'd appreciate that issue fixed and guilds should have the option of having guild heraldry shield costumes, guild homestead decoration banners and guild heraldry barding on mounts.

Not holding my breath though. ZOS seem more interested in coloured hair and PVP 'balance' nerfs on PVE than on giving players what they want.

I definitely would to see these ideas implemented. Here's hoping ZOS can see the merit in these changes. :)

I like the guild tabard idea, but I stopped wearing one because so many random's pester me for invites. I'm not able to invite, most of my guilds are at 500 permenantly, and if I tell you who to message about getting on a waiting list, most people just whine.

    1. wearable over costumes.
    2. Able to display in housing (preferably tabard design ported to a variety of banners).

Other than that I'm pretty happy with them.

Guildies need incentives to wear their tabbards, but I as the guild leader take the initiative to create as many as possible. Some in game ones would make life easier. I'd also like a guild CAPE since I'm GM. Kthx

I believe in-game incentives would not only be a great addition to the guild system but would also go a long way to foster guild pride and representation. Should capes be a "GM only" feature? (jokes) :D

I wish I had an option to hide the actual tabard when I am wearing only my armour.

A costumes hides the tabard, but we still represent our guild with the name underneath our psn name (in my case, being on ps4). I'd like the option to have it this way when I am not wearing a costume.

Beside the other great ideas listed, it would be great to offer players other ways to display your guild haraldry. I've already seen ideas heraldry on shields, capes, and other equipment, but I think it would be cool to have guild emotes (like planting a flag in the ground for your guild or waving one above your head... the planted one would disappear if you move... to prevent flags being left all over the game). Those emotes could be tied to guild rank.

Tbh, the tabbard system is meh. If I wanted to look like a character wearing spandex I'm all ears but I don't.

I wear a unique costume so these would get me to change that in some way for or another.

I love that the game gives me the option of wearing a guild tabard. I'm always a fan of more appearance options.

That being said, there are two reasons I don't like ESO tabards that ultimately leadS to me NOT wearing them:
    1. The tabards are shaped like Old English (medieval knight) tabards, and are extremely dull, and unoriginal. They remind me too much of WoW's tabards. Just bland. It doesn't even look like "CLOTH" material.
    2. All the guild icons suck. They are simplistic looking, lack detail, and there is not a single Icon that appeals to me so much that I'd use it to cover my highly detailed, badass looking armor.
    3. P.S. I would rather have had CAPES. I would never take my cape off.

Seriously, bland, and not worth covering your highly detailed armor. In such a highly detailed game in which we can see the stitching of various clothing, the tabards do not look like cloth. They look like a sheet of paper.

Whether I’m chilling in town, exploring Tamriel, or fighting the Dominion and Covenant hordes in Cyrodiil, I’m always amazed at how many players do not wear tabards. Sure, there are many who wear their colours loud and proud, but around 50% (from what I see) of players appear ‘guildless’. Why is this? This led me to critically think about our guild tabard system. I came to the conclusion that there may or may not be a simple answer and perhaps there are multiple factors that contribute to the current situation.
