If you don't stack 18k penetration inside Vet dungeons, there's an even bigger buff provided by maces.
However, most people would rather spend their in-game money to improve a dagger and an axe up to gold quality since they give a nice DPS buff in every group scenario.

Just want to point out that twice fang is not a group buff set, it only applies it to you.

Thanks that's good to know. Twice fang is the BIS for max damage and it doesn't negatively impact mace users in the group, so perhaps maces might be a good choice for some low crit damage builds, but it still depends on the group makeup.
Maces typically deal more AOE damage than daggers and axes when grouped with people who aren't using AOE skills to spread major fracture to all the targets. They generally help lift DPS when the group isn't doing everything it can to debuff armor and lift stamina DPS. It's good for pugs, but costly to have a set of gold maces when you already want a set of gold daggers or axes. If you never plan to get into speed run vet trials, maces are a good choice.
Maces don't need a buff, they need a FIX.
