Maintenance for the week of December 23:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 23, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 23, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 14:00 UTC (9:00AM EST)

Does it matter which destruction staff I use with Netch's Touch?

Topic. I'm guessing it's fine, since tool tip says that it works with shock damage abilities, not shock damage.

To get the most out of the set, it's best to use the lightning destro because of the AOE lightning does.....at least in pve lol

Set wise? No it won't matter. Must be a lightning staff though.

If you want to use another type of staff maybe look at Spider Cultist.

Thanks guys. I wasn't really going for Netch, but for some reason I got 3 divine pieces, 1 infused and flame precise + infused resto staves. That was all between just 3 runs or so. It's too bad about the flame staff though, I don't really want to farm the lightning version so I'll just farm one more netch piece elsewhere. Thanks.

One can use a fire staff as long as a lightning staff is used for WoE and any skill other than Force Pulse.

Lightning is best for the Netch set because it boosts AOE damage where the inferno just boosts single target. Since a great deal of the lightning attacks you use with that set are AOE you'll get a better benefit out of the lightning staff

Edit: Not sure what you'll be pairing this set with but using a 5 piece Spider Cultist set is really good with Netch. The boss specific weapon drop from Fungal Grotto 2 is a sharpened lightning staff. It's far easier to farm than a Netch lightning staff. Just a suggestion

It adds 100 spell damage to your lightning attacks. The other 3 bonuses are identical to Julianos. They probably come within 1% of each other in practice. If more than 30% of your DPS comes from skills that are not lightning Julianos will pull ahead.

I'd say it's really just a matter of if you want a pet build or not. Both set ups are high damage. I've completed vMA and several vet dungeons with both. You'll get a higher magicka pool with Necro+Netch but higher spell damage with the other. I like Spider+Netch for trials since pets can be a little erratic. Spider Cultist double dips really nicely into your Wall of Elements, Destro Ultimate, and your heavy and light attacks since they'll be both lightning and destruction staff skills. So if you have a Maelstrom lightning staff back bar and Spider front and you drop WoE you get the increased spell damage and light/heavy attack damage from the enchant, a damage boost from Netch and from Spider, and a damage boost to the light and heavy attacks from Netch and Spider all just by using one skill. Pretty sweet. You just want to make sure your bars are set up to fully utilize lightning

This is a great idea thanks. I actually don't like pets much. Here's a Pro/Con I see with Netch + Spider setup, correct me if I'm wrong:

    Pro:
    - Simpler mechanics (no pet) and rotations by focusing on Destro skills which are typically used heavily anyway.

    Con:
    - Non-destro skills suffer a bit. Notably Lightning Splash, Mage's Fury and Shard.

By shard do you mean Crystal Frag? Yeah, that's pretty on point. You'll still get the damage buff from Netch on Splash and Fury but lose the buff having Necro would give it. In exchange though you'd get a big boost to Wall of Elements, Destro ulti, and light/heavy attacks which for me at least balances out quite well. Especially if you heavy attack for resources and light attack weave your other skills. I also find that removing pets from the equation lets me use Bound Aegis and therefore simplifies my rotation a bit.

Also, if you were talking about frags, give destructive clench a shot instead. With Netch+Spider you'll get bonuses to that attack from both sets which make it more powerful than frags.

You will get the most out of it with a lightning staff, only other way to get shock damage abilities are the sorcs class abilities. So to use this set you really need the lightning staff.

force plus does fire, frost and shock damage. There's some odd sets out that do shock damage. Though it's advisable for dps to have lighting staff.
