True white dye for cloth

asa67dragoneb17_ESO
Anyone found a true " white " color to use on cloth/leather armors? I spend alot of time, trying colors, but everything is too " grayish " or even yellowish.
I know, that some armors show same dye a bit differently. So I`m gonna say from the start, I`m searching dye for Mercenary motif.

P.S. This conquest of the " ideal " colors, destroys me mentally. We need option to preview them...srsly.

Julianos white is normally pretty white but depends entirely on what you are dying.

Julianos' White & Llamae's white(?? the one you get from Vampirism lv10).
Palatine white is also kinda cool - but it's a bit more "creamy" if I remember correctly.

Julianos is from one of the trials, nAA iirc
But yeah, its whiter than lamae
You just going to stand there like a lemon?

Well Julianos will be hard to test...damn triels, I wanted to avoid them completely...so you can insert here heroic voice with " You`re not prepared ".
Well, I guess only Lamoe left for me, need to get my vamp alt to rank 10 then, and hope about that color working properly.
If anyone tested colors on Merc motifs, would nice to hear from you people :3

White on merc... that's a switch. My hubby prefers light merc as a uniform of sorts for most of his characters and mostly dyes it black (usually coldharbour black) with either grey/metallic or occasionally a gold/metallic for some of the fittings.

    Looks really good.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

My idea was to use true white + dark black. With silver metal parts. In my head it looks good, dunno how it will be in reality XD
Plus, this way some monster helm sets, would look " tolerated ".

Lamae's and Julianos are both very white, however the specular map for both is a sort of shimmery blue, so on leather, or cloth with a specular map (Daedric Light legs for example) there will be a blueish shimmer. On Leather it looks ok, but on cloth it looks a bit plastic wrappy.
Be aware though that on leather, it looks like blue and white, not just white, and on some leather it doesnt even go white, but more a light tan with lighter highlights and the blue sheen.

The whitest matte white is Birch White, from deconstructing stuff, iirc, and while more on the creamy side, it has no specular color, so is just a flat white.

In order of whiteness, Julianos, on a matte surface, is by far and away the whitest white. Lamaes is the second whitest white and birch white is the third whitest white. Again, all on matte surfaces.
Birch white would make the best platinum/white gold/silver metal, as it has no secondary color specular. However lamaes and julianos whites on metal have a sort of blue shimmer to them that looks quite magical, if a bit stark (somehow they seem to up the contrast on metal, probably due to the blue/white combo on low/high points respectively)

The problematic armors I have found for dying white are as follows:
    leather elements of glass armor
leather elements of silken ring armor
    cloth elements of daedric armor
    cloth elements of ebony armor
debatably leather elements of ebony armor (the blue/white is much MUCH more pronounced, which looks cool but isnt really white)
leather elements of Hircines Veneer armor

the best armors to dye period are the blue racial motifs. They tend to take dye really well and clearly, I suppose to make up for their lacking overall design. The only exception to this is bosmeri stuff, its mainly leather and instead of dying separate leather pieces, theres a kind of gradient that doesnt dye well as one of them has high specular, the other has low, so it tends to look off with light colors.

I realize thats a bit of a wall of text, but I was quite obsessed with white dyes for a while and whenever people ask about them, I feel it may be useful to share the fruits of my research.

    TL:DR
Lamaes is nearly as white as Julianos and will suffice for most needs, but Julianos is noticeably whiter.

    Well lets see......

    • Julianos White is the very brightest white with a bluish tint

    • Palatine White is the very brightest white with a brown/tan tint

Immaculate White is the brightest white in ESO, and has no tint.... but is also Crown Store exclusive, requiring you to buy Dye Stamps costing 200 Crowns each during the event going on right now. It will only be placeable on your second costume dye slot only.

    Hope that helped.

Julianos white is the best white for light mercenary armor. I used that exact combo after testing every white for a long time before switching to the black hand robe in...well...black.

Julianos white is a little beige on the robe portion, but it’s as white as you’ll get on merc gear. You can see it in open combat at the beginning and middle of this very old video to see what looks like in game.

Also, didn't realize there were good white dyes stuck in stamps. That actually gives me a reason to consider buying one. (Never thought I'd say that.)

The white dye they're talking about was part of Midyear Mayhem (or 4th of July, I forget which). Normally, stamps do not include unique dyes. The exception is, some of the holiday events have included new dyes, which... I really wish they wouldn't do that. At least unlock those dyes for everyone with the appropriate achievements after the event is over. As is, there's some cool dyes you cannot use on normal armor.

Hey, thanks for clearing that up, Starke.
I agree with the sentiment on the fact that it should be unlockable. I'm always for options for earning something yourself. Especially if it's happening around holiday events I'm surprised they don't just make it a part of a holiday achievement.
Still, it's good to know that it's a thing that exists and something I may wanna keep an eye out for.
