What is the use for Summon Shade/Dark Shades/Mirror Image ?

The final skill in Shadow tree (NB) is Summon Shade.

What is the benefit of that spell ?

Do these shades help the character by keeping the aggro on them ?

Or are there any use for this ability ?

    Great in pvp.
    Dark shade: Summon two shade versions of yourself to attack an enemy and fight your side for 15 seconds.The shade’s attacks deal [x] Magic Damage and afflict the enemy with Minor Maim, reducing their damage by 15% for 4 seconds.Summon 2 shades instead of one.

    And Shadow Image great for PVP
    Summon a shade version of yourself to stay in place and attack an enemy from range for 15 seconds.The shade’s attacks deal [x] Magic Damage and afflict the enemy with Minor Maim, reducing their damage by 15% for 4 seconds.While the shade is summoned, you can activate this ability again to teleport to the shade's location.Summon a ranged shade instead which deals more damage, and you can activate the ability again to teleport to it.

    If you call up Shadow Image before you Lotus Fan, you can get in and do damage while the shade does damage from range, then reactivate to go back to range yourself. Useful for a magblade with no stabby weapons for close fighting.

    I used them on my old NB tank build to maim the boss and lower its damage (by -15% I believe) You also get some nice tank friendly passive buffs from casting it/slotting it.

    Twin Shades, great for people who block a lot and applying minor maim.

    Summon Shade, great for applying minor maim and for the awesome jukes. This morph is also bugged and prevents other nightblades from cloaking if they cloak right as the shade shoots an arrow.

    The Dark Shades morph needs to be a better morph. It's not good enough to just add a second shade. The shades don't do enough damage for a second shade to be considered a benefit, both shades always attack the same target (so it's not like you get to debuff more targets), and if you're fighting mobile targets then the shades are at risk of spending most of their time chasing instead of attacking.

    I find little reason to use Dark Shades over Shadow Image, which will land most of its attacks provided an enemy doesn't leave range - to go along with the added maneuverability.

    I don't really use the Shades for damage, just to distract mobs when there's a large trash pack like on Dolmens with few players.

    My Shade doesn't distract or taunt pve mobs, once I cast the shade the mob rushes at me leaving my Shade alone, and Shade is chasing mob wasting time on running without any attacks. And Shade's attack power is more like a fly biting a bull. Imo it should hit at least 2x harder to make any difference. I also read that most people in pvp don't block shades anymore since they know that shades cannot harm much. They draw attention mostly of the pvp noobs.

    this is a great skill- but bloody hard to use. i would say its one of the more advanced line of sight tactics in the game, that when done by a master, in a tower or a keep- can keep a NB alive against a zerg of 20. look up some videos on youtube. i tried it once though and got dropped within 5 seconds. you need alot of situational and spatial awarenss to do well- otherwise you just look stupid.

    Midnight - Find out when midnight is so that you can check for ww/vamp spawn.
    Goto - Adds a tab to the map pane allowing you to teleport to a friend, guildmate, or groupmate for free.

    For PvP you can perform tactical maneuvers like fighting on a wall of a keep, jumping off to the outside and when enemies follow port back to the top the wall and snipe them down while they run for an entrance.

    As a stamblade I find Shadow Image to be very useful, and way more dependable than cloak. My only gripe is the fact that it requires a target, and it gives you false activation of the teleport at times.

    As mentioned before though, this skill does require foresight, and logical placement. You can't mindlessly use this ability in combat. I also activate this ability whenever someone uses destro ult in order to reduce their damage by 15%.

    Here's me experimenting with Shadow Image in battlegrounds (2:24 mark). It's replaced cloak ever since.

    Shade poof teleports you to the nearest shade, regardless of who it belongs to. Very convenient for shenanigans...which may or may not include...you know...keep walls and things...

Does the tele to other NB shadow image (im assuming you won't go to dark shades) require you go recast your shadow image to tele again, or does the tele only cause a recast when you get to your own shadow image?

    I agree with others, they should do more damage or have a morph to reduce shield effectiveness for 15 seconds, which would be more useful than maim. Either as much damage as a Twilight/Familiar, or similar to Shadowrend. Other than distracting someone (the ranged archer will pelt you repeatedly if in line of sight), minor maim is the only thing that can be helpful, other than teleport which has uses.

    If a player is already blocking then it adds to the drain long time vets with block builds still block this. Non block builds with of course stop blocking them. But it's like a shield stack build where all your gear is for shields and someone uses shield breaker you can't just stop using your shields.

    No they a timer all timed summons just need one bar all permanent summons need double or tripe bars.
