Maybe we have not gotten transmog because they are afraid of revenue lost.Would costumes have less vaule if you could say transmog all gear into any motif ones.

Transmog what...armor to armor only excluding costumes.
Also consider how the current transmog already works which excludes set armor drops.

If buying the costume was the only way to gain access to that particular transmog, yeah.

    This is a silly-ass thread.

Costumes would still have unique appearances.

I'd rather they forego transmog altogether and just implement appearance slots.

Not every costume is a costume of "armor". Where else are we going to get evening dresses and handsome suits?

I would definitely still buy my clothes and also transform my armor. Rpers would LOVE, to wear their (for example) covenant motif into battle and their wayrest doublet in the city. Costumes can be bound to the Q quick slot menu too for quick changes. Many of the costumes don't make sense to wear into battle if you care about that sort of thing, and the people who care about appearances are the people buying the appearances lol

Yes because I like pretty dresses instead of robes sometimes.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.

I don't buy the costumes now unless there is nothing in the near future to spend the crowns I get by subscribing.

I would really like to be able to put all those motifs I have learned to good use though.

I wish there was an option to make your own costumes. For example craft regular gear at a crafting station and combine it into a costume. Which can then go into your costume spot. So you can have a cool costume and still have the good gear, even if the good gear looks like horse crap

Costumes are more convenient, transmog money, if I want a few sets of hunding to look a curtain way I need to make them, personally I like both systems and would use both

However I do not buy motifs cause ZOS has killed the point

Most costumes in the crown store are not armor, they are civilian, joke or fancy outfits.

On the other hand most quest reward costumes and the disguise from quests are armor, including releases from Morrowind.

My other MMO is Guild Wars 2 which does exactly this. Whenever you equip a piece of gear it's skin is saved in a 'wardrobe' and can then be applied to any matching piece of gear. (Matching meaning you can only put a sword skin on a sword, heavy helm skin on a heavy helm etc.) In addition to that they sell 'outfits' which are identical to costumes, except that everyone can dye them.

I've bought several costumes in that game and honestly the main thing which puts me off buying more is the rediculous system where they all share 1 dye set - if you change one it changes all the others. Trying to find dyes that works across multiple costumes is a pain.

If transmutation was added to ESO I wouldn't regret any of the costumes I've already bought and I'd likely continue to buy more in future.

This is for the simple reason that they give options that armour doesn't. There is no armour that looks like the Evening Dress, Off-the-shoulder dress, Graht-Climber's Active Wear, Pirate costumes and Runmare Waterfront Casual Wear which are my main costumes. And hopefully there won't be because none of them look like even light armour.

I want masks without hoods so I show off my custom hair but keep the mysterious theme. Like a masquerade mask or even just the kind of bandana type face mask paint ballers use (nose and mouth covered, maybe with a lower jaw design). Would be nice if there was some kind of rebel alliance to join that had highwaymen masks.

Currently I'm using the belly dancer veil so I know they can do it if they wanted to.

    Yes, I would.

Those costumes that interest me anyhow...
I usually use costumes as "quickchange option" for "civilian clothing", while I prefer my characters armor as "adventuring garb"... thus I would always buy the nifty costumes I might want to use in RP someday, even when I had the option of customizing my charcters armor...

Of course, I also would love to see costumes to be more non-combat stuff in some way. As i keep saying:
Personally I'd prefer it if even costumes were divided into "combat costumes" with armor visuals, and "non combat costumes" like all those dresses and such that unequipped like a disguise during combat...
...well, or that wearing a costume reduced your armor to the visuals of said costume. So, no matter what you actually wore, in "dancers silks" costume you'd have no armor whatsoever, and in "wizard robe" costume only your light armor would be counted, and in "thieves leather" costume your medoium armor, and only in "knight armor" costume you'd get heavy armor protection as well...

I understand the poll as asking if Transmog was ingame would it affect my buying habit of Costumes, since concern or arguments have been raised on the forums that fear of losing Costumes sales could be a contributing factor for Zos not looking at adding the long asked for feature.

My answer is yes, I would still buy Costumes in Crown Store regardless of the possibility to Transmog armor to any of all the motifs my character has learned. And no, it would not affect my purchases of Costumes in Crown Store at all, and I've bought a considerable (imo) number of Costumes.

If they're afraid of losing revenue on costumes (which is unlikely because people will always want full costumes they can pop on from time to time), they can always make the transmog system work on a token system, where you buy a token for say 100 crowns which allows you to transfer the appearance of one item to another. Win/Win, we get our transmogs, they keep getting revenue.
