So just had this linked by a friend and read it over. https://legends.bethesda.net/articles/introducing-twitch-drops
At Bethesda we believe in the power of Twitch. From Battlegrounds in The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, to “Let’s Plays” in games like Prey and Fallout 4, we love to watch our fans stream all of our games.

Today, we’re happy to announce a new partnership with Twitch in the form of Drops. Drops allow any user who has linked their Bethesda.net account with their Twitch account to get free stuff in the Bethesda games they’re already playing, just by streaming or viewing a stream for that game on Twitch. The best part? All of this is free! To get started, simply head over to Bethesda.net and link your Twitch account.

We’re also rolling this out for the Bethesda events and programs we livestream on our own channel. The first of these events will be Bethesda’s E3 Showcase, which you can watch live at twitch.tv/Bethesda on June 11, at 9pm PT. During the Showcase, we’ll be distributing Drops all evening long for The Elder Scrolls: Legends – including card packs and in-game currency. If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out Legends, it’s a free-to-play strategy card game on iPad, Android Tablets, PC and Mac, with a mobile phone version coming very soon. Download it now so you can take advantage of all the free Drops on Sunday!

Wednesday, June 14, after the Bethesda E3 showcase, we’ll be rolling out Drops across all Legends streams on Twitch. But Legends is just the start of our Twitch integration. Our vision for Drops is to allow anyone who is streaming or viewing a Bethesda title that is powered by Bethesda.net to earn Drops. We’ll share more details in the future about supported titles.

Drops are just the beginning of our partnership with Twitch, and we’re incredibly excited to offer this up to our fans who watch content on Twitch, as well as the streamers who play our games and entertain the millions viewing their content. Make sure to link your Twitch account with your Bethesda.net account today to take part in the opportunities starting this Sunday, June 11, and keep an eye on Bethesda.net for more information on our Twitch partnership as we support more titles and Twitch features.

Erm... yeah I don't quite know how I feel about this.

I mean it's great advertising and promotion for the game, great rewards for those who stream the game. However with how I know ZOS this is going to end up as exclusive pets/mounts etc. isn't it?

I guess I better start looking into how to stream on a 1.2mb upload connection. :smirk:

Do we know the same ZoS? :D Last thing I would ever expect from ZoS is free rare/expensive stuff.

My assumption is these will be pretty rare and ordinary drops. Like 1 card pack a week for TESL if you spend watching 20hours. Maybe rarer.
For ESO (if it comes to it) I can see them dropping crown crates or some basic packs (like crown potions, 5 crown packs and rarely even mudcrab)

It will be interesting to see how it develops that's for sure.

I mean I won't give ZOS too much abuse as we don't yet know if they'll take this on seeing as they're technically a separate company from Bethesda.

Seems to suggest it's for Legends tho so....

In ESO forums....not sure it changes anything but hey they're doing Facebook Live for ESO now

    In other news.....
Xbox is now using Mixer instead of Twitch. I mean you can watch things via Twitch but the native broadcast method is no longer Twitch.

    Shrug

Legends yes, however the thread was aimed for us to be tinfoil hat speculators on if ZOS/ESO will also adopt this.

I'm going to suggest no impact for eso unless it's PC only excluding Steam. I don't think or believe ZOS would be interested in giving away digital things for consoles other networks outside of their own.

Now if it's physical items.....shrug but overall Xbox may as well be excluded as Mixer is the dominance now.

Noted, also an insightful because of the Xbox information.

Bethesda announce it like it would happen across their games.

Yet we see "Bethesda" when the game is loaded. I see "Bethesda" in the bottom right of this web page as I type. We hear ESO announcements in the Bethesda presentation at E3.

If there are games other than ES:L where drops make sense, it is ESO and maybe Fallout Shelter. In ESO, the crates are the natural way to implement this.

So, I linked my twitch to bethesda... But currently that means nothing as my Bethesda account isn't linked to ESO, is there a way to do this? Or would they pop up in the form of codes?

Would be nice if we got a ZOS response on if this is planned on working with ESO, and an eta if it is.

I think they will pop-up in the form of codes that we can redeem in our ESO account, like Blizzard did with Overwatch's golden lootbox a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't the exact same system, it required Twitch Prime, but still.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I would love to use twitch to stream eso on Xbox one but am forced to use mixer instead due to the Xbox one banner covering all skills completely, and it is opaque. Mixer lets you move it twitch does not. You need to see when ultimate is ready so even if you have your skill placement memorized, twitch just simply is NOT compatible with eso on Xbox one. Whomever is involved and can get that fixed should. I have been trying to notify both twitch and Microsoft for a while but ims ure Microsoft is biased toward their own product and isn't interested in updating the twitch app so there you have it. Please fix this

Question: I see that the release says:
Beginning on May 21, should you make any ESO purchase via the Games on Twitch store and have a linked ESO account, you'll receive a free Twitch Crate.

Wha? What Games on Twitch Store? My store link takes me to Amazon for stuff like T-shirts...I am confused...help please? Is it some kind of thing only available during a live broadcast? I only use Twitch lightly; I am not a Twitch ninja...thanks!

EDIT: Found it; it's only in the web version of Twitch and not my desktop for some reason; and only items are for PC/Mac, so beware.

I'm not going to automatically hate on it...it just seems the thing to do on these forums and it gets tiring and boring....and more than a little insipid.

If it is done well, it would actually give folks another reason to support their favorite streamers....if not Oh hell who am I kidding?

The outrage mob will hate it regardless.

    Exclusive items.

This means you have to watch Twitch streams if you want that exclusive, it's not a reward for those who normally watch Twitch but a task for everyone who wants specific looking mounts now.

Also will ask for lock, because necro. Official thread is a better place to talk about this: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/412868/official-discussion-thread-for-twitch-drops-more-are-coming-to-the-elder-scrolls-online

If ZOS really cares about twitch viewership, and wants to advertise their game via twitch views. They need to start supporting the PvP community.

PvP is what gets the twitch views, not drops. People want to see dynamic content and that can be evidenced by the other games that are most popular on twitch at the moment. The twitch community was at it's strongest when we had several high profile streamers, that started their twitch career playing PvP.

Sadly lag, balance, and general neglect has hurt the community and forced a lot of streamers to move on to other games with less issues. ESO has always had the potential to be an e-sport and get high views like other PvP games on twitch but some obvious and major changes need to happen first.
