With the recent case ruling in the US Supreme Court i would question if ZOS has the power any more to forbid account sharing. I will link it in this post, but basicly the court ruled in favor of consumers in the right to use a product how they wish after purchase. While i agree you need multiple copies of Morrowind for multiple accounts. It is a wonder on how this ruling will effect the gaming community as of yet.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2017/05/31/how-a-supreme-court-ruling-on-printer-cartridges-changes-what-it-means-to-buy-almost-anything/?utm_term=.98e545834fe3

That case would have more to do with reselling the game and even changing the product, not sharing it.

As confirmed by many, many players, even though it was $40 and marketed as a separate game, this is NOT sharable. My wife can't play the content. This will by my very last purchase from Zos or Bethesda. They are now on my do not buy list along with Bungie. Time to cancel my plus membership I've had since day one. This company cares nothing about its players.

IMO the base game should not have been shareable. The game is not B2P. Not F2P because some games can be shared on consoles.

    @Giles.floydub17_ESO

It's not a matter of opinion. It's a console requirement for all developers.
PC just gouges people and this the reaction to E3 2013 for Xbox one.

Within reason family and close friends should be able to share their games. Now we've moved on from discs but still that doesn't or shouldn't invite companies to drain people

Even Apple allows music and movies and app share with games too. Steam is offering a feature too.

Within reason everyone should have some level of freedom for entertainment.

Heck we can share cars, homes, property but not a game.

    @NewBlacksmurf

It is really not that simple.

Steam - publishers are permitted to block sharing. This occurred with Ark, Survival Evolved, I believe the it was late 2015 the publisher started blocking sharing.

PSN - publishers are permitted to block sharing. Persona 5 blocked much to prevent sharing content. idk the details other than it was early release in Japan. Not sure if it continued after the world wide release of the game or the extent.

    Microsoft - idk

Regardless, as you have seems to even acknowledge, this is about the host, not Zos since Zos does not have control over the platform.

Actually it is that simple. It's been this was for consoles since forever and PC changed around 1998-1999

ARK has been on Xbox for a looong time and it shares just like all the other Xbox one games where's PC Steam had a different situation which now allows sharing too.

Persona 5 block screen and vid capture for sharing NOT access to play the game. PS4 can screen shot and record vids now that it's released

$40 is for the upgrade, meaning it upgraded one instance of the base game.

If you purchased the $60 version, it clearly indicated that it also included the base game. So with that, you could have attached Morrowind to your existing account (The ESO one, not the Xbox one) or you could have created a 2nd/new account which would have had access to base game + Morrowind, while your first non-upgraded account would not.

You'd equally not have access to any DLC's you had purchased on the first account, but not on the second.

Why should you get the content at effectively half the cost the rest of us would have to pay?

It's not a luck situation. It's literally a marketing promise made by each console. So if they're going to allow special case scenarios, both the console company and the Dev need to have an obligation to list this in some way for any and all purchases.

It was fine as the crown store clarifies it's just for you but this is an add-on on the Xbox store.

For me buy 3 copies more for make all my family like others players in the world, it's just a major purchase decision.

Ops, i talk for 3 copies more then mine.. So 4 x 40€ = 160€ = 30 hrs of game, 1 new class, 1 island = 1 year of """""DLC"""""", cause next year i have to buy another one (at the same price, with the same waste of money. and i don't count 4 ESO plus every months).
130€ for Destiny 1 with all DLC = 3 years of game FOR ALL MY FAMILY.

what is this "shareable" you speak of? account sharing is prohibited by the ESO ToS and is bannable.

Of course it is not shareable. DLCs are not shareable. ESO+ is not shareable. Crown Store items are not shareable. Did you really thing the expansion would be shareable also.

Actually, the game itself has never been shareable unless you want to use the same account, but one of the benefits of owning a 2 PS4s for your family is the fact of using the same digital game licenses to play those games. I always just buy one game and we both can play the game on two different consoles without issue. Of course it does violate PSN TOS to do this with a friend across a different network and can get you banned. I do not think he meant game sharing which is way different than using the same game license for a primary and secondary PS4 used on the same network for a family. Somehow, ESO made it where someone would need two licenses to play which I am okay with because I want to see the game improve. I can understand why these customers are upset because the game was appeared to be marketed as a whole new game entirely which is why I think there is confusion. Morrowind appears to be an addon/upgrade content for the game instead of a whole new digital game download. So I hope they decide to stick around. :)

Account sharing is sharing the same eso account not the game license which console allows.

He meant using the same game license for two different consoles but on the same network for his family. It is an added benefit of owning a console as a family. Also, if you are under the same household, I see no reason why each person in the family could not use the account to create a new character. This could also be construed as account sharing which I am sure half of eso do this.

I wonder and had not thought of this until now, but he might be able to uninstall his first digital copy hence removing that license and then download the current digital copy. It might work, but I don't know. Seems like my game just acted like an upgrade to Morrowind while the second console required a separate psn code to access new content as an upgrade. I did not know I could pay 39.99 for a simply upgrade from in-game as I had already bought the gold edition. Sigh, so now I own two 70.00 versions of the game. LOL.

Maybe sharing my situation will clarify things for some users:

I have an Xbox One account. My daughter has a separate Xbox One account that is linked to mine as a "family account" that lets me monitor her activity. Up until now, she has been able to play any game installed on our console. I installed the Morrowind expansion and it's only playable on my account, not hers, though she can still play the base game.

Now when I access her account, the game gives me a link to update her access to include Morrowind. But when I click on that link, it takes me to the Xbox store which tells me that the expansion is already installed. So there appears to be no way to give her access, other than buying a physical copy of the game AND a new Xbox One to install it on so she can play it. (I assume the console won't allow for two versions of the same game to be installed on it, and that installing from disc will just overwrite what's currently on the console.)

I was just looking up this information and came across this hilarious thread full of PC users that know how the XB works. HEY PC USERS -> If you don't have an XB1 then you have ZERO clue what you are talking about. Just move along.

As it has been stated MANY, MANY, MANY times before, XB1 and PS4 have a built-in design called game sharing or family sharing. It is specifically designed to allow single purchases of games that can be shared within a family. I don't have a PS4 so I can't comment on it but I can tell you that I have over 140 games on the XB1 and EVERY SINGLE ONE AND ALL OF THEIR DLC EXCEPT ESO IS SHAREABLE. Do I need to say it again so it's clear? EVERY GAME AND ITS DLC IS SHAREABLE EXCEPT ESO. I put it in caps to drive the point home. All MMOs, all single player, all multiplayer. Every type is shareable.

It's not an entitlement. It's not that we bought one car and expect someone to "give" us another car for free. It works completely different than the PC. This is the DESIGN. It's not cheating. It's not breaking any EULAs. This is the how it is supposed to work.

All digital games are shareable and their DLC are shareable. What ESO does that is different is they make their DLC "store purchases" which are singular and account bound. This is their design that breaks years of precedent. To make matters worse they have ZERO wording when you buy the game to state this. I got caught on this buying the Gold Edition over Xmas last year. The base game shared but the gold portion did not. I was wondering if they changed this model for Morrowind but apparently not. So like many other players, I will not be purchasing Morrowind or any other DLC as long as they keep this model nor will I be subbing.

For those of you talking about physical disks, those disks are shareable and the license is generally contained on the physical disk itself. For instance, I purchased a physical copy of Destiny. I can play it on my XB1 and my son can play it on his XB1 but we both need the disk, therefore we cannot play at the same time. So I purchased a used copy of the base game and we can both play together at the same time. I later bought the digital Taken King Collectors Ed. It came with a bunch of in game goodies as well as access to the expansions. I bought this once and because it was digital, it was shared between both XB1s. We both received all the in game goodies and access to the expansions. I did the exact same thing with The Division which requires uplay. We all know how much they suck. I bought the deluxe version that included all the goodies and the season pass. I bought it once and it shared with no problems. This is EXACTLY how it is supposed to work. EXACTLY. ESO has intentionally broken this model and even today there is zero verbiage in the store on how this does not family share.

I preordered Morrowind, and it was a physical disc, but it had a code to enter to play, and that became account locked. It really sucks because me and my gf play ESO on the same console (ps4) and so she can play the base game, but CAN'T play the Morrowind stuff.
...And it was $100.00 (has a sweet statue and a few other goodies). I paid for expedited shipping thinking I would have it the day of its release, it didn't arrive until 5 DAYS AFTER THE GAME/EXPANSION RELEASED... 5 DAYS, i was like WTMFNF... I'm pretty let down, I WILL NOT PREORDER ANYTHING FROM ZOS/ZENI AGAIN!!!!!!

Morrowind was NEVER claimed to be a separate game, people just insisted on seeing it that way cause of its unique title. It was, is, and always will be an expansion to ESO. A DLC, not its own game.
