Regular PvP-ers - What's the biggest reason you run in Cyrodiil?

I'm curious to understand what motivates people to play regularly in overland PvP (Meaning Cyrodiil, not Imperial City)

I know more than one answer may apply, but what is the biggest reason you regularly play PvP in Cyrodiil?

AP has been pretty meaningless since Thieves Guild, campaign score hasn't been a really compelling reason (for me) to do anything since 2015. Friends are cool.

Pretty much just to have fun, since I really don't have a use for any AP or gear you get in Cyrodiil.

I enjoy fighting other thinking players. When I first started I was into killing npc's, but that got boring after a month. I then gave PvP a chance before I "quit" the game, only to become addicted to it. So now here I am still, even though I haven't really PvP'd for the last 2 months or so, I haven't quit. Just a tiny break from the game. Still log on every day to sell and stuff.

I don't think anyone would ever pvp for AP or end of campaign gold... If they did they are stupid because you can earn 10 times more gold outside of cyrodiil.

I like PvE more but PvP is a nice way to break up PvE time when waiting for new content. Also you can pickup some nice equipment with AP and doing daily town quests. The Akivair motif is pretty $$$ if you're trying to buy it with gold, better to farm AP and get it that way. But mainly I like the PvP guide I'm in and we have fun running around in Cryodiil.

Cyrodiil hasnt changed much in three years. MMOs are social games. if you dont play it to have fun with your friends, whats the point? you arent going to gain world notoriety or epic fame. what maintains the drive? its got to be your friends.

I usually find it more relaxing to run around solo compared to playing in a group. No objectives, no obligations, just wander around and kill people or get killed.

Well, compared to the first year or two of ESO there are finally at least some useful things you can buy with AP now, like monster helms and stuff that you can sell for gold.

I play just to have fun anyways, but whenever there is something good on the golden vendor I tend to play a bit more that weekend, enough to buy a few monster helms.

Unfortunately a lot of the sets keep repeating. Would be nice to see a second golden vendor added to IC who sells different items each week for Tel Var or something.

Unless you're going for a 100% gold gear setup, end of campaign rewards have been completely pointless ever since they removed the chance of getting Master weapons for being in one of the top spots.

the gold is important to me...i'm no "master" merchant - so, one of my primary sources of income in game is the end of campaign rewards and selling the gear i get from rewards for the worthy...

I spend at least 200k each month gearing up for cyrodiil...having 8 characters reaching tier 3 rewards (for each faction) helps greatly...

but, the reason I spend a good amount of gold gearing up is because I love the opportunity to compete with and against other players...

it's a constant challenge that has stayed fun for me for almost 2 years now...

This is a pretty accurate representation of what I do. I used to solo resources when I was getting 25 AP for them because it ... gasp ... helped my alliance. Now that I get 1500 AP it's just an added bonus.

When soloing I try and get 1 resource per life and fight anyone in my way to said resource. Sometimes it ends in a humiliating defeat. Other times I fill up a kill 20 in 4 minutes because I ran into a Zerg fight.

I only use those magic pots for PVE. It's been a long time since I had to buy any reagents but it's safe to say that I probably burn through 100 columbine in a month due to PVP.

If you're not running immovable + health + health regen + magic (or stamina) + magic regen (or stamina regen) you're at a severe disadvantage.

Between that and my Invisibility + Speed I average probably 20 potions per hour in PVP.

the pots from the siege merchants in cyrodiil aren't too bad, nor very costly - but, yeah the immovable and invisible pots are super useful...

personally I waited over a year before I started using pots and then another six months before I finally leveled my alchemy to be able to make them - they definitely help give you an edge in fighting...

Edit: the biggest challenge though I have at times is deciding how much time do I feel like investing in "gearing up", and, how much time do I feel like just playing...

Had an example of this two nights ago when I was fighting with 2 random EP at BRK LM and had a 3v3v3, and that's been my only fight like that(without getting zerged by any faction) for about 30 days of PvP. Yes, 1 organic 3v3v3 per 30 days of PvP play. It used to be at least 1 per day, not even joking.

I feel more alive in Cyrodiil, I feel more dead in PvE. Cyrodill is where I feel belong. Plus that rush of adrenaline in Cyrodiil and the never ending surprises. However given my differences in my alliances issues that I'm currently struggling and even more so, due to the upcoming Campaign changes.

It's a bit awkward whom you don't know where you truly belong. Alas, I only bought the game was due to Cyrodiil. It's what I wanted. The open wilderness is a vast, all 3 factions zones in Cyrodiil speaks to me. That vast lake surrounding the Imperial City is amazing. Plus also, I fight for who I am, regardless of the alliance I'm helping. Most of all, to have fun in Cyrodiil.
