Forced to double slot pets and why?

Wishing the sorc pet work as templar BoL, then perhaps it's easier to create a templar and cast breath of life.

By the way, do the sorc pets survive bossfights like the walls and balls at Kena, or Bogdan shockwave?

If you have to slot it it's not "free". It's still taking up two slots then. Also the basic damage is nothing to write home about, it's the familiar pulse combined with daedric prey that makes it strong. Both the pulse and daedric prey cost Magicka. So again it's not "free". Toggles are just bad design in a game with only 10 skill slots.

Maybe you should stay on commenting about NB tanking in end game raids and leave Sorc threads alone.

Maybe try reading first next time. He wants pets to not despawn when bar switching, I'm talking about his idea. Even without access to pet skills you're still getting 10% magika without a frontbar slot.

Wrong. You get regen on the bar it's slotted. Which NBs get as a class passive. It would not be OP at all if pets were no toggles. Maybe if you're concerned tone down the passive effect and increase the on cast effects. Done. Everyone is happy.

I was talking about necropotence not regen. I forgot it changed from 10% to 4k.

Pets are like 90% immune to aoes, basically only thing that kills them is hard hitting targeted attacks or some special stuff like Treeminder's totem at ROM. I mean they do sometimes die to aoes but significantly less often than players do...I don't think my pet has ever died to orb of spite on Veli hm for example XD

To OP, as been pointed out, pets are a toggle which makes their presence on both bars mandatory, like something like Bound armor for example. Now it is a bit different because pets have their own active skill along with actual "summon and forget" part too, so you could argue the 2 bar part is leftover from old days when pets had none...but changing it would probably me more trouble than it's worth. You seem to be suggesting pets shoud get auto resummoned when switching to bar with them but how'd that work? Their summoning is really expensive, not many will want to spend that much every bar swap just to have to spend moar magicka to use pets after that. Also that'd mean they get auto unsummoned when wep swapped? So no familiar dot on main bar? That'd make familiar useless in favor of (argueable) minor convenience for a sorc healer.

If they just let pets stay and do their thing but no way to activate their active ability when on a bar without pet skill, it'd be a very noticeable buff to sorc, especially in dps department - something that sorc frankly don't need. If you make the pet a timed summon...then it'd stay when bar swapping alright but it'd be a colossal nerf, they'd have to rework the whole system to alter that while still keeping pets viable at all: lower summon cost, reduce or even remove its cast time, maybe have its active ability activate along with cast...it'd have to be a whole different system than what we have now.

Another way would be to remove cast time along with active skill and just make pet summon=pet active and after performing it pet disappears but...then they'd just be an ugly skin for bol/your average dot. What we have now is actually pretty interesting and unique; yes there're tradeoffs such as having to spend 2-3 slots on a single pet and having to resummon it sometimes, but they're powerful enough(probably even too powerful right now, familiar def is. We'll have to see how much he gets nerfed though) to compensate for that and they're no longer "cast once and forget" passive skills.

He wasn't asking "I wish pets were a healing spell", he was saying that he wished they were similar in strategic function to spells like BoL - i.e, something you keep on your back bar and pull out when needed.

Personally, I have no valid opinion, I've never run a pet sorc. I'm just trying to clarify some of the apparent miscommunications. /shrug

No one is mentioning how Warden gets this luxury, fascinating

Just make every pet function like the Warden's Netch. Make it so you have to re-summon it

The gear must be double spotted. As for the netch, it works more like the NB pets, short duration which is why the don't need to be double bar slotted. They need to be recast regularly. But my guess is you see the difference.

Maybe make the Sorc pets only last 20-25 seconds and we have to recast them. That woile be a change where they could be on one bar only.

Yeah, but he was speaking specifically in the context of the pet's active ability (which is a heal comparable to BoL) as he wanted to have a sorc healer. So I guess he was looking to be able to switch to his back bar, have the pet automatically appear (without cost possibly) and then use the active ability to heal people and switch back to his main bar.

    Because everyone would backbar pets?
You're essentially giving them 2 free skills at that point.

I don't understand what you mean? Say if I wanted to use the sorc pet like bol yeah? Why can't I back bar it? Why is it any different from a templer back barring bol? I guess what I mean is the pet ability and the active pet should only be active whilst you on the pet bar, I don't mean back bar it press it and it be active on both bars.

Because bol wont attack ennemies after you switched bar

I would personally prefer it if Sorc Pets worked like the Netch or the NB Shades. I refuse to give up so many slots for a pet, I need those slots.

I have bol on the destro bar to for instant access, have had limited success with bar swap to interrupt sweeps or dark flares.
    Block works well however.
More practical over time effects continue after bar swap, toogle effects does not, had sorcerer pet lasted 30 seconds you could single bar it but you had to spend magic to refresh. Forgetting to recast and it would go away.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Your pet is up as long as you have it on your active bar. skills like bol have a short duration. Make the duration be the same for pets as it is for skills like bol, and sure you can have it stay up (for a few seconds) when you switch bars.

Would be cool if Sorcerers got a passive that granted them a free bar space that could only be filled with a Toggleable skill, and had to be the same one on both bars. The class is forced into double barring at least one skill between Bound Armor and Pets, and often has 4 of their 10 slots devoted to toggles to remain relatively powerful in PvE.

The other day, my friends and I were talking about wouldn't it be nice to have 3 morphs of skills; we were yakking along the lines of "magicka, stamina and PvP" (yes, this is a SEVERE oversimplification).

I wonder if there would be any interest in a 3rd morph for sorc pets (or similar); the two they have now, and then a third, which would be a 20-24 sec single bar summon.
