please delete my accidental necro post

It is too late, the bone phone has been activated.

Honestly, forum necromancy's only a problem when people get temperamental about out of date info. I had someone go off on me once for making a comment about there being no reason not to be a werewolf, because of the stam regen. Someone came back, yelling at me because, "no, you need to have the ultimate slotted, so you give up a lot for that," nevermind that the post itself predated that change, and when I wrote it, you did, flat out, get +15% stam regen for being a wolf, with no downsides.

On topic, if you had something new to add to the conversation, it's fine. People might give you a little flack, but the only problem is when the revived conversation has nothing new to contribute, or has out of date information.

That would go a long way towards explaining why weresharks are so rare, to the point that some aren't even sure they exist.

In the game we are playing there are npcs who turn into werebears upon receiving Hircine's gift. Specifically a Bosmer woman whose husband you have to help. So, there is lore already established for werebears at least.

I hate to add to the thread necro, but which quest is this? I haven't stumbled upon it yet, and I'd like to.

Beasts of Falinesti. It's not as exciting as it sounds from that description.

WW was awesom while it lasted. Now it is a poop. Only use case is RP. In PvE & PvP you are only limiting yourself. Even if you run a dedicated WW build - you are still weaker than a non-ww simply because of a couple of reasons:
    - You only have preset of limited skills.
    - No Ulit.
    - One bar.
    - Almost 0 group utility.
    - Only one morph (Some one runs Pack Leader ? :/ ).
    - Skill cost is way too high compared to effectiveness of the skills.
    - Very limited build options (orc sorc, or nothing, for PvE additionally you have to run Blood moon set, otherwise your DPS is poop).
    - Very limited roles (PvE it is pretty much only stam DPS, no option to run tank build).
    - Lack of snare removal / immunity or purge kills WW in PvP.

Now, if we had different types of Lycanthropes (werecrocodiles, weretigers, werebears etc.) that would be awesom. But I am afraid that there are a couple of problems with it:
    1. If this would function as a visual & sound "skin" for WW that is fine, but undoubtedly it would be VERY heavy monetized (Only a VERY rare drop from a crate or it would cost 15000 crowns etc). So it would be very inaccessible.
    2. As a separate, different world skill - It is very unlikely, since ZOS can not do one were-creature playable (sledge hammer balance approach). The new skill will be most likely SUPER OP for the 1st month and then nerfed to the ground.
    3. As an "upgrade" - once you have WW mastered, you could simply switch it to a different were-crature via daily quest NPC.

^ Personally that last option seams best for me, even if it would be a part of a DLC. And that would be fine. You have base lycanthropy unlocked (WW) so you can switch to different type, making a whole skill tree more flexible (basically it would change the preset skills to different one, more specialized. For example one will be focused on tanking, one on solo play, one on group play, one on stealth play etc.

WW skill line is hard to get. So forcing people to cure themselves just to "maybe" gain a different were-creature skill line is not a good idea.

I know this is a necro'ed thread, but I would like to point out something to everyone here: The different strains of Lycanthropy are not race-specific/race-exclusive. A High Elf or Nord could turn into a Werecrocodile or a Werelion just as well as an Argonian might turn into a Werewolf or a Khajiit might turn into a Werebear. It all just depends where you obtained the curse/blessing from. If you got scratched by a Werewolf, you'll become a Werewolf Lycanthrope, and if you're scratched by a Werecrocodile, you'll become a Werecrocodile Lycanthrope, simple as that. The misconception that different strains of Lycanthropy are race-exclusive most likely comes from the fact that different Lycanthropes prefer to live in certain areas of Tamriel, such as Werecrocodiles in Black Marsh and Werelions in Elsweyr/Cyrodiil.

Apart from that, I would personally love to see different strains of Lycanthropy, though as Werewolves already got a bit of love back with Wolfhunter, we need to get Vampires some updating first. I'm not asking for Vampire Lord (I would prefer not to have it in ESO), but just updating the base Vampire with some new skills is a good enough start.

@Benzux, that's mostly correct. Werecrocodiles are believed to only occur among Argonians, and Werelions are similarly believed to be restricted to Khajiit. It's also possible that neither strain actually exists. (Something the existence of Argonian Behemoths tends to support.) Or that they haven't jumped races yet, for whatever reason.

While the vast majority of strains are not race restricted, it's possible that a handful of the rarer, more "mythical" strains might be.

@starkerealm Possible. Until we see the different Lycanthropes in-game, we cannot fully know of their existence, and the rules that apply to them. But, we can safely say that the more "common" strains aren't race-exclusive, given how Argonians and Khajiit can turn into Werewolves.
And, in the end, Lycanthropy is a Daedric-borne supernatural disease: it is likely that it doesn't have "restrictions" at all.

Anyone can be infected by the non-exclusive races. So absolute confirmation on Werewolves and Wereboars.

Two strains have only been observed affecting a single race. Werebats (Bosmer), and Werebears (Nords).

In game literature indicates there are additional strains. Werevultures, Werecrocodiles, Weresharks, and Werelions. The text seems relatively credible and doesn't outright contradict any information we have. It stipulates that some variants of lycanthropy are race specific.

Can we make ww viable for pvp and pve before we go full roleplay mode and ask for different ww skins basically?
