First i want to apologize up front beacuse i will use harsh words in this post.i am begging for understanding.
Yes, iam angry for good reason.
ESO developers you give us option to farm raw materials, right? Thank you for that.
We are using that option all the time.i hope in future or next patch we wont need to pay for that option, beacuse is very like it.
Finally i get¨ high-end¨ equipment for my magica DD sorc and like any others i want to upgrade to legendary all my armor and staffs.
But that seams like misson impossible.Couple of days i am farming rawhide.1400 Rawhide Scraps!! FFS!
And what do you get when you farm 1400 Rawhide Scraps = 5 Dreugh Wax.

This is my skill level in clothing branch, so you dont need to ask. oh, do you have enough skill level and did you put skills in unraveling? yes i f.... did

Guys in Zenimax you have great game, thank you.But let me ask you is this fair to players like me and others players who bought this game and all DLC to nerf extraction of raw materials so hard?

That seems like some rough RNG. Not too far off from my average of one temper per two hundred materials refined. It sucks. Then you go look and there are thousands upon thousands on the market. Somebody has better luck than us.

Looks like average drop chance. Nothing to see here.

And 1400 raw hide is no big amount. If the drop chance was increased, tempers would get completely worthless.

I tested difference on 3 chars. For testing, I used 200 rubedite tier raw materials each test. I didn't take notes on green/blue tempers I got in process, but I can say there is a difference in purple ones I got. When I get more of raw materials, I might sacrifice some for science and post results.

This test was not way too representative, since I had just 200 of rubedite tier material to use per testing, so the accuracy might be wrong. But from what I saw, investing points should be helpful.

Do writs, you get a gold temper about every couple of writs at higher level. Does temper droprate perhaps also depend on tier of material? Been a while since I refined anything but cp 150 stuff.

The odds to get golden upgrade materials when refining is 1/20, therefore you were a little unlucky by gettin only 5 instead of the expected 7.
I'm not sure if farming raw materials is the most efficient way to get legendary materials. Alternatives would be crafting dailies, which have a 25% to get a legendary if done with maxed crafting. If you worry about the materials used, approx 50% is covered by the surveys and the other 50% have to be farmed. For clothing you can only do the ones requiring leather, that can be bought really cheap (2k/200 on PC EU).
Im doing crafting dailies on 9 chars in less than 30 mins per day, which gives me 2 legendaries of each profession per day on average. You might want to look into some addons like the lazy writ crafter to speed things up.

Don't stress about getting your gear upgraded to gold immidiately after getting your first "High-end equipment".
It's a bit unlucky but not uncommon to get 1 or 2 in 1000 sometimes you get more though.

It's all RNG which can be very frustrating but it's not unfair since it's same for everyone.
I used to refine in batches of 1000 raw mats for tempers a while ago and sometimes i got 1 other times i got 9.

I have changed my ways now i'll quit refining right after i get a one gold upgrade material. If i haven't gotten any after 10 refines i also quit and try again later.

It takes longer but it gives me the most profit out of my raw mats or at least i think so which is good enough haha.
I understand somebody that needs them to upgrade something right now doesn't want to do it that way.

Put points in tannin expertise before you upgrade though.

yep, rng sucks some times. I remember farming 1.2k ore 600 silk and 300 wood and when I refined it all I only got 1 alloy but on the other hand today I had 20 raw wood and 20 ore in my invent and decided to refine it just to free up some invent space and I got 1 alloy and 2 rosin.

Sometimes i get like 6 wax from 600 scraps, other times i get 6 from 1.5k

The part about the raw mat level, it doesn't make a difference.

Why don't you just sell them? That's what I do atleast, don't need all that hide, or other stuff, buy the items I need.

Don't base your impression on just one refining session; the other day I got 21 Tempering Alloys out of a lil bit over 3k ores...

And got two more other with writs, topkek.
