TES3 Morrowind is an all time favorite of the series, and after taking a break from it for a few years i've pulled it out, did some research to get it working again on windows 10, installed graphical mods and a few plugins, and now im reliving the best times of my TES life! I can't count how many hours i've put into this game before, and all the nestalgia is incredable!! Who else is doing the same??

Only discovered this game many years after release and played a bit but I kept getting murdered by assassins the first time I went to sleep. :'( I do plan to play again this month though.

I have the original set of discs and the separately sold expansion discs. Would like to play the Steam version with 16:9 ratio and all the new improvements but I can't abide paying twice for the same product.

Isnt it dirt cheap on Steam though? Youre not paying twice for the same thing, youre paying for a version thats optimized for newer machines, and its not nearly retail price anymore.

MOI. I first played loooong ago, loved it of course. Now, again, can't stop playing *** it. :#

Story and immersion were so good... It makes me feel a little sad that today games can't achieve that level.

Thats how i felt with Oblivion, i was getting into the scenery and story, but it just felt so clunky, not to mention the really dated character models. I know there are mods for that stuff, but i had already gotten into a modded Skyrim and i just got too lazy.

Such an amazing game. I started playing it long after I got into Skyrim. Hard to get used to but totally worth it. I loved exploring that part of the province. When I saw Balmora in ESO's version my jaw dropped. It looked exactly what I expected and wanted.

Use the graphics extender, you can increase the aspect ratio to 16:9 and increase all sorts of things, regardless of what version. Ill post a link to a useful tutorial someone made for setting up some of the crucial extensions for the game, MGE included

I loved it at the time, but the graphics, interface and gameplay are just WAY too old.

But if you ARE going to play... check out this link I found for tips to optimize the old Morrowind.

@Cêltic421 im sorry i dont think you get it. Yes there will be new dlc but its not much of old morrowind. Its just another typical ESO zone like Wrothgar but (in my opinion) with story i liked less.

You are missing out on what is probably the best Elder Scrolls game ever made or will be made.

No hand holding and a story that is actually really good and keeps you interested. Not to mention all the lore books and places you can explore.

I can understand not having time - but saying "You're not missing anything.." man you have no idea what you are missing.

You are doing a disservice to yourself not playing it through at least 1 time.

Old game? Yes, but it still puts most modern RPGs to shame to this day.

What is interesting about that picture of Balmora is that it is looking right at Red Mountain. You can't even see it because it is obscured by the white fog.

Always wanted to play Morrowind, got it as a kid, have the whole original collection. Including a disc with Construction Set, and a disc for each expansion.

Installed Morrowind at least 7 or 8 times...

Never played longer than an hour, never got further than the first town, the first cave, and that weird guy with the "flight" spell scroll that falls from the sky. And maybe spent 10 minutes in Balmora, out of pure curiosity.

I liked the music, i like the atmosphere, the whole game looked more than appealing really... However...

Reason why I quit every signle time? Couldn't get over the combat, chat started to give me serious headaches 5 minutes in, and when I finally reached Balmora i just stopped because the game literally was making me angry as every NPC has the same generic crap to say and i didn't know where to go as I also didn't want to do the main quest line until I explored everything. And to think I only wanted to find more quests and lore, more things to learn and explore. Nope.... Didn't work, cuz i had to click on every single topic over and over and over and read everything over and over and over to make sure i'm not missing something.

I've tried mods before, i've tried making the game more "playable" for me. Never happened.

Until someone makes a mod for TESIII: Morrowind that will change the way you talk to people, pick up quests, etc. I will never finish it, even though I'd love to as i feel like i'm missing out on a lot.

(And just before some fanboi tries to bash me for being spoiled, spoonfed, handheld abomination.... I played games like old Might and Magic, King's Quest, Wizardry, later Gothic and others... There were no quest markers, no simple dialogues back then, no pointers and a Journal was a thing everyone used in every game.

Morrowind was just NOT made for me. It's sad.

15 year old game, draw distance was not that far  I might just have done the overhaul mod pack install wrong but I did put it on highest draw distance. There might be a mod that gives it more but I don't have it

It's true... when I reinstalled it I thought "These graphics are so outdated there is no way I'm playing more than 1 hour".

If you give it a chance, you begin to pass that because the atmosphere is so well done that you don't see the aged textures anymore. IDK, I think is lovely. You know what I like more? The fact that you can't quick travel or mount hahaha. Yes it sounds like a pain but it helps so much for the immersion.

There are a few mods which allow you to change resolution. There is the Morrowind Extended Graphics mod, but I prefer to play vanilla and use FPS optimizer for just a higher resulation

    http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:FPS_Optimizer

Also, the steam version is very cheap these days. But I don't know if it supports higher resolutions since steam isn't known for it's support for older games (GOG does a better job). Even the steam edition might need mods but I am not sure 100%.

@IcyDeadPeople, if it's a huge issue, you can always disable Tribunal, at least until you've got a handle on the game. The Dark Brotherhood Assassin can be a handful at low levels. This is especially true if you're playing off the original disks, instead of one of the later repackaged releases.
