Pretty much this.
I gave up on trying to be viable in PvE on my MagBlade compared to other classes. They all just pull higher numbers by default.
Does it make my magblade bad that I don't run the same dps as a sorcerer?
No.
Does it make them desired in a group?
No.
user name checks out for a Sorcnice reference.

Hey now! Mordenkainen was a Wizard! Not a filthy Charisma caster.

And you still haven't addressed the fact that magblades will be 100% countered by templars next patch. Literally 100% as ALL our (average at best) damage is reflectable.
Ooo did we get wings?
Please don't tell me you're referencing the awful skill known as Eclipse that almost no Templar uses o:
Every Templar will use it now b
Ooo I totally skipped over that buff because I never expect it to be a good one. Thanks o:
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Eclipse will now grant the target 7 seconds of CC immunity ... even though it does expend stamina to break free. Targets with CC immunity are unaffected the the reflect debuff
So...
Templar: "Eclipse!"
NB: "K. Cloak"
Templar: " ... "
NB: "Thanks for the CC immunity! I need it now the Wrobel gutted my stamina management."
This. It's been that way for awhile so not sure why the OP is so worried about the 'next patch'

OP isn't a templar so it's understandable to be concerned at the ability when looking at in a vacuum. Doesn't have the experience to realize how inefficient it is. Or with the variety of threats we face in cyrodiil, just don't have room to slot such a specialized niche spell that is really only good against magicka nightblades. A sorcerer, who this spell used to be really good against, can hit us with curse, mage's fury, crushing shock, and even a lightning heavy attack. There is a reason why templars don;t use this spell; and it's not because our opponents can just CC break it.
If this were a game like WoW where I could cast any ability, then things would be a different as there would not be an opportunity cost for using Eclipse.
