Unable to log in 4/23 - error 200 PC/NA

I've made it past that error, but still am having trouble actually entering the world from the character select screen.

Same issue as yesterday. Error 200. Can't load announcements. I can log onto EU server. I can log on to NA server using a VPN.

Just had this issue, switched to EU server, back to NA and it worked fine afterwards

Still can't log on to PC NA, ran the repair and still nothing.

Logging on to PC EU is fine. I periodically have been checking PC NA since 5:30am EDT (current time 9:09am EDT)

This has been going on since at least 5pm last night 4/22

Can not log on to NA server. No error message but can not retrieve announcements. No problem getting on to EU server.

no idea why, but restarting my pc fixed mine. had the same issue here just 5 min ago.

Same error booted me last night. Still this morning keeping me from logging in.
You'd think that ZOS would have some sort of announcement, but nope. I gotta waste my time only to discover they haven't fixed anything

Seriously! Because I can't find any answers I feel like I'm being ignored. If someone would pop in and say they are working on it I might feel a little better.

I'm happy ~enough~ playing on PC EU but I sure would like to come home.

Right now I'm thinking if this is just foreshadowing of things to come in June.

Here's a fix that works for me, worked the last time this was an issue a month ago. The discussion is linked as well, it is from a ZOS helper type.

Close both the game and the launcher
Open the game installation directory
Open the folder named "Launcher"
Inside the "Launcher" folder, there is a folder named "ProgramData"
Rename the "ProgramData" folder to "ProgramDataBackup"
Open the launcher and download update
Click "Play"

fyi the "error 200" issue has been a longstanding problem. ZOS is aware of it. No "workarounds" are necessary or reliable. It is a server issue, not client side. Very frustrating but if you keep attempting to log in you should eventually be able to. It's luck of the draw on your attempts.

I have been trying to log in for 30 mins. No luck. I have rebooted computer, tried the EU servers. This is extremely frustrating and what is more frustrating there is no information on the problem coming from ZEOS. Shame! No good selling point for future on game or Morrowind.

I don't think all of that is correct. For me at least, and it sounds like others, using a VPN is a reliable work around. I don't think it's a client side issue, and I don't think it's a server side issue, I think it's somewhere in the network. If it were a server side issue it wouldn't make sense that most people never see it and others have it all the time, when it's happening. And, for some of us at least, it isn't a luck of the draw type thing. It's a persistent issue that is there until the cause, whatever it is, goes away. Last time it happened for me was early March, started on Saturday and was fixed on Monday, not fixed by the maintenance, but soon afterwards. Probably the guy who knows how to do it is off on weekends.

@Sangsar for clarification let me say it is "a problem on their end" not the players end. I guarantee you that if you receive the "error 200" msg and can't retrieve announcements that if you keep attempting your log in it will eventually work. I've personally done it numerous times just this morning. No "workarounds or fixes", so I stand by my "luck of the draw" comment.

I'm not sure how you can guarantee that some fix will work when you don't know what the problem is. I've been trying to log in for almost 24 hours straight now and it doesn't work for me. "Could not retrieve announcements." Can log into EU server. And can log into NA server with a VPN. That is a work around if anyone wants to try it, I'm not the only one it works for. That is why I say the problem is likely in the network somewhere, when I log in with a VPN I'm using the same client, logging into the same server, using a different network connection. And it works.

I think there are 3 types of users with this problem: Most have no problem at all. Some see the Error 200 sometimes, but it goes away. Some of us haven't seen it go away at all over the past day.

Quick look at a map of internet outages across the states indicates that there is some internet backbone trouble in the middle of the eastern seaboard, where I believe the zenimax servers are located. This could very well *not* be zenimax fault, but a routing difficulty. This does happen, and there's little we can do about it, as the internet providers do not invest heavily in infrastructure. Just be aware, when a server location is having problems, there is often nothing that can be done but wait it out and try again. It might not be the server owner's fault, but the infrastructure around it.

@Sangsar perhaps you misread my post. That is exactly what I'm saying is that there is no "fix" or "workaround. Any success you may have had is not due to anything you did, as I obtain the same result doing absolutely nothing but re trying. I'm not looking to debate you on this. Was merely trying to save some people from wasting their time and experiencing further aggravation.

No problems for me logging in recently - until game crashed on me around 10:40am PDT this morning - then unable to login, Error 200. I'll wait a bit and see if it comes clear. PC/NA.

Update: still unable to login at least 25 min later, even after a reboot. Quite unusual. I expect it's a login server-side issue (or network problem somewhere).

Cant log in again error 200 last night ... by restarting my computer it worked .... but this morning its a no go ... Still error 200
