Can't you copy the install that is on the main drive to a secondary drive and then run it from the secondary drive? Just use the launcher that you copied over to the second drive and you should be fine.
I have the live server on my main HD and the PTS on the secondary drive and it runs fine.

Usually copying the live data to the PTS folder doesn't work so well, the patcher doesn't know what to do with it.
So you have to download and install it to the main drive your live is on first, and then move the PTS folder elsewhere. If you don't have enough space on an SSD to do this, it becomes a pain.

You kind of want to do the opposite of the guy in the tutorial, by moving a game from the SSD to a HDD but the steps are the same. The mklink lets your computer behave as if the game was still installed in the original place, even though the files are located on your HDD.
